"What have you been up to? What’s that you’re carrying?"
When Fang Chenyi walked in, everyone had already finished dinner and was sitting on the living room sofa, chatting.
His mom saw the large bags in Fang Chenyi’s hands and asked curiously.
Seeing all eyes on him, Fang Chenyi chuckled.
"I noticed that nghan and you two didn’t have any purses when you ca out, and it just so happens that Louis Vuitton has a few new bags. They were having a trunk show at the Qinhuang Island store, and I thought they looked nice, so I brought them back for you all."
As he spoke, Fang Chenyi placed all the shopping bags from his hands onto the coffee table.
When the three won heard this, happy expressions blood on their faces.
Mrs. Fang and Mrs. Bai even shot their husbands a fierce glare, as if to say, ’See that? You two are a far cry from Chenyi.’
Father Bai and Father Fang both coughed, then changed the subject and went back to discussing company managent.
The three won, however, fixed their gazes on the shopping bags on the coffee table.
"Co, Auntie, nghan. These three are for you, and these two are for Mom and Auntie."
The three of them eagerly took out the purses to have a look. Once the bags were out, all three were clearly very satisfied.
Bai nghan held the pink purse, her eyes crinkling into smiling slits.
...
After returning from his mother’s villa, Bai nghan dove straight into the study. No matter how much Fang Chenyi tried to dissuade her, she insisted on finishing the remaining financial reports.
Left with no choice, Fang Chenyi could only stay to keep her company, but Bai nghan just smiled and pushed him out.
"It’s fine, I can handle this myself. It’s getting late, you should go get so rest."
The next morning, Fang Chenyi groggily climbed out of bed to find Bai nghan wasn’t beside him. He fumbled for his phone and checked the ti: 5:15 a.m.
He sat up and muttered to himself, "Why is she up so early?"
He glanced over and saw that the small night light by the bed was still on, the one he had turned on last night.
A thought struck him. ’Don’t tell she didn’t co back all night.’
He got out of bed, left the bedroom, and headed straight for the study. Arriving at the door, he gently pushed it open.
He saw Bai nghan slumped over her computer, apparently asleep.
His heart ached as he shook his head. He walked over quietly. Looking at the still-lit computer screen, he figured she must have fallen asleep less than twenty minutes ago.
He stepped forward, bent down, and with a slight effort, scooped Bai nghan up in his arms.
Bai nghan jolted awake. Realizing it was Fang Chenyi holding her, and perhaps overwheld by sleepiness, she wrapped her arms around his neck and fell right back to sleep.
Seeing this broke Fang Chenyi’s heart. He gently placed Bai nghan on the large bed in the bedroom, helped her out of her clothes, pulled the covers over her, and then shook his head as he left the room.
’I still have to take Mrs. Bai to the school today.’
He left his villa and went to Villa No. 2, where he saw his parents and his parents-in-law eating breakfast.
When the four of them saw Fang Chenyi arrive, they were all taken aback. Mrs. Fang asked in confusion:
"Well, look at you! Did the sun rise in the west today? What are you doing up so early?"
Fang Chenyi greeted everyone with a smile, grabbed a bowl to pour himself so soy milk, picked up a fried dough stick, and started eating heartily. He spoke with his mouth full, his words muffled:
"Heh heh, I have to take Auntie to the school, don’t I? By the way, Mom, nghan was up all night looking at reports and just fell asleep. Could you bring her sothing to eat before noon?"
Hearing this, Mrs. Fang imdiately gave Fang Chenyi a rap on the head. Her voice was full of heartache as she scolded him:
"You brat, how could you let my daughter-in-law stay up all night! Couldn’t you have looked at them yourself? Let tell you, if this happens again, you’ll see if I don’t skin you alive!"
...
After breakfast, Father Bai and Father Fang went to the company together, while Mrs. Fang went to take care of Bai nghan.
anwhile, Fang Chenyi called for Qi Xiaotian, and they took his mother-in-law to the school in the Rolls-Royce.
Sitting in the back of the Rolls-Royce, Fang Chenyi thought, ’Having a chauffeur is so much more relaxing than driving myself.’
When they arrived at the school, Fang Chenyi imdiately called a eting with all the vice-principals and grade-level directors to announce that Mrs. Bai would be taking over the position of principal, effective imdiately.
Fang Chenyi owned one hundred percent of the shares in this school, so no one had the slightest objection to who beca the principal.
Of course, even if they did have objections, they could only keep those thoughts to themselves.
It must be said that Mrs. Bai truly lived up to her reputation as a lifelong educator. After listening to everyone’s reports during the eting, the points she raised were almost all correct.
This made so of the vice-principals, who had been secretly unconvinced, put away their disdain.
Because it was her first day, there was a managent eting, then a school-wide assembly for all teachers and students. By the ti everything was finally dealt with, it was already past three in the afternoon. Fang Chenyi figured he might as well wait until the end of the workday to go back together.
By the ti he returned to the villa, it was past seven in the evening. His father and the others were already back.
After dinner, while everyone was relaxing on the sofa, Bai nghan handed a compiled docunt to Fang Chenyi:
"I’ve gone through all those reports. Besides Southern Airlines, which I felt was a bit off, it’s Lu Chao Technology that has a problem."
Hearing this, Fang Chenyi took the file Bai nghan had compiled, looking a little puzzled. He asked,
"Oh? What’s wrong with Lu Chao Technology? Did they falsify their financials?"
Bai nghan shook her head. "I don’t know if they falsified anything, but there’s sothing wrong with their financial data. The data for the first half of the year was relatively stable, but this month, their performance suddenly jumped by nearly twenty points. That rate of increase isn’t normal."
Fang Chenyi was taken aback. ’Up by twenty percentage points? Old Tang is pretty capable. Looks like I made the right choice in handing the company over to him.’
He smiled and waved his hand dismissively.
"There’s no problem with Lu Chao Technology. It would be strange if their performance *didn’t* rise. That’s actually the company I used to work for. The boss practiced nepotism and ran the company into the ground. So, a few days ago, I bought it and did a major cleanup. After getting rid of all the parasites, it would have been hard for its performance *not* to skyrocket."
Hearing this, Bai nghan shook her head, amused. She looked at Fang Chenyi and said,
"I really don’t get how your mind works. You have so many big companies under your control, but you went to work at a small company like that... Heh, is this the legendary ’rich person experiencing life’ thing?"
Fang Chenyi just gave an awkward smile and didn’t explain anything.
Of course, even if he told them that back then, his six-digit PIN was guarding a bank account with only a few hundred yuan in it, they would never believe him...
