Fang Chenyi was speechless. Instead of celebrating at the five-star hotel they were already at, they insisted on going to his house.
But then again, ’Char and the others are much better cooks than the staff here,’ he thought, so he nodded in agreent. On second thought, however, it was already past eleven at night. By the ti they got back, it would be nearly one in the morning. If they got too loud, they wouldn’t just disturb his parents—they’d bother the neighbors as well.
In the end, Fang Chenyi waved his hand dismissively. "It’s too late tonight. Everyone’s already asleep. Let’s do it tomorrow. Tomorrow night, we’ll have a big feast! For now, let’s find a street food stall and grab so skewers!"
Principal Wang looked at the ti and saw it was indeed too late. He chuckled sheepishly and nodded. "Hehe, I got so excited I lost track of ti. We’ll do what Brother Fang says. My treat, let’s go grab so skewers."
The large group trooped out of the Qinhuang Hotel and, under Fang Chenyi’s direction, made their way to a night market street near the university town.
They picked a random food stall, went inside, and ordered a mountain of skewers.
At Fang Chenyi’s insistence, Qi Xiaotian had no choice but to join them at the table.
Once they were seated, Principal Wang handed a bottle of beer to Fang Chenyi and said,
"Brother Fang, we’ll be here for one more day tomorrow, then we’re heading back the day after."
Fang Chenyi nodded and said, "Alright." He then took the beer and passed it to Qi Xiaotian.
Seeing this, Qi Xiaotian quickly waved his hands. "I don’t drink, Brother Fang. I have to drive later."
Fang Chenyi froze for a second, then slapped his forehead and called the server over for two soft drinks.
Only then did he turn to Principal Wang and say, a bit exasperated,
"I’ve gotta ask, do you spend all your days just goofing off like this?"
’In Fang Chenyi’s eyes, everything this guy had been up to lately was just fooling around. Playing video gas, competing in tournants—what was the point? To put it bluntly, it was just playing.’
Principal Wang retorted while cracking open a beer,
"Brother Fang, what do you an, ’goofing off’? I’m busy as hell from morning to night. Once this tournant is done, I’m here for one more day, and then the day I get back, I’m flying straight to Tokyo. I’m a fine, career-driven young man, I’ll have you know! Let tell you, Brother Fang, even if I’m not as incredible as you, I’ve still made four billion in three years!"
Fang Chenyi just pursed his lips dismissively at that, retorting with a teasing tone,
"Four billion in three years? How co I heard your old man gave you five hundred million in startup capital?"
Principal Wang, however, looked as if this was perfectly normal. He nodded and said,
"Sothing like that. It was actually closer to six hundred million. I used that money to start five companies, and in three years, I’ve profited a total of four billion. That’s a lot, you know."
As he spoke, the skewers they’d ordered began to arrive. Fang Chenyi gestured for everyone to dig in, then grabbed a handful for himself. He started eating while looking at Principal Wang’s smug face and said,
"Six hundred million in startup capital, four billion in profit over three years... you’ve multiplied your principal nearly eight tis. Heh, that’s not bad at all."
Hearing Fang Chenyi’s validation, a smug look spread across Principal Wang’s face. But before he could fully savor the mont, Fang Chenyi suddenly started breaking it down for him.
"Xiaocong, I saw this joke online a while ago, maybe you’ve heard it. It goes: ’The son of Baida’s CEO, his dad gave him five hundred million, and he earned four billion—an eightfold return. But my dad gave two bucks. I bought a pair of work gloves, went to a construction site, hauled bricks for a day, and earned a hundred and eighty bucks—a ninety-fold return! This just goes to show, we’ve got the talent, we’re just short on startup capital’..."
After listening intently to Fang Chenyi’s story, Principal Wang’s face fell. He glumly raised his beer bottle in a toast to Fang Chenyi, then said, caught between laughter and tears,
"Brother Fang, you don’t have to call out like that, alright? To be honest with you, in my circle, the fact that I actually made money instead of squandering all five hundred million away... that’s already considered a successful career."
Fang Chenyi clinked bottles with Principal Wang. After a mont’s thought, he realized the man had a point.
As a steady stream of different skewers arrived at the table, the group drank more and more. In the middle of their drinking, Principal Wang, slurring his words slightly, suddenly turned to Fang Chenyi with a sly grin and asked,
"So, Brother Fang, I’m heading to Tokyo the day after tomorrow. Wanna tag along? Tokyo’s a great place, you know. It’s really ’hot’ over there!"
Fang Chenyi was taken aback for a mont. But, he had to admit, the idea was actually a little tempting.
’Of course, he wasn’t tempted by Tokyo’s ’heat.’ He was thinking about his last trip abroad to Paris, where he’d managed to score nearly four billion worth of valuables.’
’That just went to show that foreign "junk" could be pretty lucrative. He wondered if Japan might have even better "junk" to find.’
As if sensing Fang Chenyi’s interest, Principal Wang continued his temptation:
"Brother Fang, the reason I’m going is for an international ani convention. I don’t know if you’ve ever been to one, but let tell you, Brother Fang, they have lots of live shows there, you know..."
Fang Chenyi gave Principal Wang an annoyed rap on the head, then picked up his beer bottle, took a swig, and said,
"You think everyone’s as shaless as you? But now that you ntion it, I actually am interested in checking it out. It just so happens I acquired an animation company a couple of days ago."
Principal Wang froze, staring at Fang Chenyi with a completely dumbfounded expression. "What?" he stamred.
"What? Brother Fang, you have an animation company, too? Holy shit, is there anything you’re not involved in?!"
...
By the ti they finished drinking, it was already past three in the morning.
Fang Chenyi was holding up well. Perhaps thanks to his constitution, he was only a little dizzy and not truly drunk.
Back at the villa, not wanting to disturb Bai nghan, he took a quick shower and fell asleep right on the sofa.
He didn’t wake up until noon the next day.
That evening, Fang Chenyi had Char and the others prepare a magnificent feast. Everyone, including Qi Xiaotian and his n, ate their fill.
After the al, they returned to the villa. Fang Chenyi told Bai nghan he was going to Tokyo the next day for an ani convention. At the sa ti, he handed her the transfer agreents and other docunts from his bag for the acquisition of Xuanji Animation Technology Developnt Co., Ltd.
Seeing the docunts for yet another company, Bai nghan was at a loss for words. He already had so many, and now here was one more.
She flipped through the docunts and let out a long sigh of relief. Fortunately, this company’s market value wasn’t that high—only in the tens of millions.
"Hehe, so what do you think? If you don’t have class, you should co with ."
Bai nghan shook her head regretfully. "I’m afraid I can’t. I’m busy preparing for my graduate school thesis and graduation, so there’s too much going on at the university. I can’t take any ti off."
Fang Chenyi didn’t press the issue, but his expression suddenly turned pitiful.
"Sigh... I’ll be gone for at least three to five days, Xiao Hanhan. How about we... take care of our ’business’ ahead of schedule?"
