Although she had transformed her bow into a scythe, this was more of a bluff than a tactic, because she knew she wouldn't stand a chance fighting physically against the strongest demon. Bloody Lily actually had one hand back, preparing with her blood a more refined and powerful arrow than the previous ones, but she needed time and, lucky for her, Belial was the kind of opponent who seemed to love being provoked, because he liked to talk.
"You only say these things because you don't know the warmth of affection. Even your creator doesn't love you, otherwise he wouldn't have sent you to your death like he did today."
Belial gritted his teeth, slightly irritated by her provocation, and said:
"Seriously, you humans never know when to stop. Honestly, it's like trying to talk to Infernal Beasts." Then, pretending to be unconcerned by Bloody Lily's words, Belial smiled. "Affection? Creator? You humans are so na?ve. In hell, our bonds are forged in eternal flames, in loyalty to our own desires. We don't need those fragile concepts you call affection or love. We are driven by power and supremacy, the strongest always mands and when one day I bee stronger than Surtr, I will kill him and take his place on the throne of Muspelheim without hesitation."
The blade of the scythe flickered and holding this weapon was much more difficult than the bow, but that was no problem for Bloody Lily. She had great attributes.
"You may think yourself superior, Belial, but underestimating the power that emanates from the human will is not usually a very effective tactic. The heat you underestimate is the same heat that drives us to fight until our last breath."
Belial, still smiling debauchedly, raised an eyebrow. "Human will? You are so fragile, so easily corrupted. Zylok was easily manipulated by that human called Kaizen. Soon it will be dawn and, frankly, you don't stand a chance against me alone. What's left for you but to accept inevitable defeat?"
Blood Lily, without flinching, skillfully turned the scythe in her hands and shouted:
"I will never surrender!"
"You're more stubborn than I thought, human. However, this stubbornness does not threaten my victory. Your efforts are futile in the face of the power of hell." Belial said and raised his left hand, thus launching a storm of black fire in Bloody Lily's direction, and this storm quickly gained not only in size, but also in width.
Bloody Lily, feeling the sting of the heat, turned her scythe into a bow again. And as a last act of hope, she fitted the new arrow made from her blood to the bowstring. This arrow was long and extremely thin, with a tip that formed a six-pointed star instead of the normal four-pointed arrow.
'Even if I die, even if this is my last nation in this battle, I need to make it easier for others to defeat Belial, I need to destroy one more of his hearts. e on, Emma, remember some part that he seemed to be protecting...' She thought as she pulled the bowstring.
In front of Emma, the black fire formed a kind of wall that made it almost impossible to see what was on the other side, but, as Belial was arrogant, she knew that he would still be standing in the same place where he cast the magic. So, with a quick, fluid movement, she pulled the string to its limit, feeling the tension build up, and when the arrow was released, it glittered like a star lost in the darkness, the sharp, single point emanating a glow that unraveled the shadows of the black fire.
Belial turned away at that moment. There was no chance of Bloody Lily containing her black fire, she was already dead to him, so he needed to focus on finding where Zylok ended up. Still, he muttered:
"That human will, even now, is still annoying..."
Literally an instant later, the arrow pierced Belial's natural armor, passing through his chest.
Bloody Lily felt the connection, the impact of her arrow echoing through the magical bond it shared with her own blood. She knew she had managed to hit a vital spot, even if it was a small opening in the invulnerable being she was facing, and that was enough to make her smile even with the black fire inches away from her.
Belial let out a grunt of pain, and he staggered forward. Blood trickled down his chest and he looked back to see if Bloody Lily had somehow managed to stop the black fire, but no, it was clear to him that in a desperate gesture she had shot through the fire. The spot where the arrow had hit pulsed with a different energy, a disturbance at the heart of demonic power.
"The bitch still..."
"Even the most powerful have weak points," she muttered, more to herself than to the demon, and knelt down, tired, accepting death. 'Looks like I'm going to die, so I'll lose my magic weapon... Too bad, dear panion.'
The black fire advanced mercilessly towards Bloody Lily, enveloping her in crackling shadows. Her red eyes shone with resignation as she braced herself for the imminent impact. Death seemed inevitable. Just as the black fire was about to consume her, a magical portal opened in front of Bloody Lily and the fire began to follow it. Then a voice appeared behind her.
"It's not time to die yet, Bloody Lily."
She turned back and a figure revealed itself, amidst a swirl of arcane energy, was Fryft, an Evolved.
Her eyes shone with a hint of experience, and the robes she wore seemed to be made of pure magical energy. Fryft raised her hands, and a shield of light formed around her and Bloody Lily.
"The portal I created won't be able to contain the intensity of these flames, but these shields probably will." Fryft continued.
"Probably?" asked the red-haired player.
"Yes, probably." She replied with a smile and then the portal disappeared, leaving them to be swallowed up by the dark storm.
