But he no longer looked anxious or filled with panic.
His eyes had turned completely black, and there was no whites left in them.
They looked like two deep, unfathomable, and endless voids, like gateways to sothing that did not belong to this world.
Along with that, a mantle of darkness clung to him.
It didn’t seem like so robe but like a living shroud that wrapped around his form, blurring his silhouette until he looked less like a man and more like a shadow that had gained will.
His body was still riddled with blackened wounds, and foul, deathly energy still lingered and crawled beneath his skin like a malignant parasite on the places where the gray spikes had pierced and scratched his body.
The corruption gnawed at his flesh relentlessly and spread with a slow, deliberate cruelty, eating away at muscle and bone as if savoring the process.
The stench of a thick and nauseating kind of rot and decay was unmistakable.
Ethan clenched his teeth in imnse pain until they creaked, as feeling one’s skin, blood, and flesh rotting in real ti was not a type of pain normal people could bear.
So, using this mont of respite that the dark eruption that had brought him, he started forcing vast amounts of icy mana through his muscles and veins to slow the advance of the foul, deathly energy.
Soon, frost blood along the edges of his wounds and sealed them temporarily, but even so, he could still feel the decay resisting and adapting, as though it possessed a will of its own.
A few monts earlier, Ethan had finally understood sothing he had been unwilling to admit, and it was that he could no longer hide his strength.
If he continued suppressing his elent of darkness and if he continued pretending to be rely talented instead of being dangerous, he would be torn apart piece by piece in this rciless ambush.
And since it had co to his survival, he no longer lay in restraint, and so, making the tough decision, he didn’t start to use his normal dark spells as it would be no use against such a powerful enemy.
He had to first confuse the invisible enemy before he could plan his counterattack, so he detonated the darkness within him.
The vast reserves of dark mana he had been compressing and refining within his dark dinsion for the past five to six years erupted outward and were unleashed without restraint this ti.
The release was not explosive like a firestorm or crackling thunder in the conventional sense.
Instead, it was silent, absolute, and suffocating, like the sudden arrival of night at the end of the world.
As he unleashed the strongest possible attack he had comprehended himself in all these years from his godly art of darkness, Eternal Eclipse Ascension, Ethan knew the cost he would have to bear for this imdiately.
In that single mont, he had burned through at least two to perhaps three years’ worth of accumulated preparation ant for his future ascension to the Crystal Formation realm.
The loss was severe, and this decision of his bordered on reckless, but he did not hesitate, as power and future achievents ant nothing if he died here.
Yet the sheer magnitude of the phenonon the dark eruption created could not be explained by quantity alone.
Especially if one considered the fact that an Elental-rank being’s essence mana, no matter how refined or pure it was, it should not have been capable of producing sothing so vast, so oppressive, and so mysterious.
The truth behind it lay deeper, with the first and main reason being his godly art of darkness, Eternal Eclipse Ascension.
It was a true forbidden inheritance about which no one even had the slightest idea.
From the information he had received from the mysterious but currently dormant crystal of Eterna Nexus, it was a technique that was said to have once cast entire realms into absolute darkness when wielded by beings of rank six and above.
Ethan was nowhere near that level.
He was not a rank six being, heck, he was not even a rank three mage.
And yet, his Overlord-grade talent allowed him to manifest this godly art to its fullest potential by condensing the essence mana of darkness to an absurd purity while stripping away all its accompanying impurities until only its truest essence remained.
When that impossible purity resonated with his godly art, whose ultimate purpose he still did not fully comprehend, it produced an outco that defied the logic of the power system itself.
Dark waves poured out from his heart, and at the start, they did not travel through the material world.
Instead, they slipped into the shadow realm and flowed through an unseen plane, threading through the fabric of reality like a silent tide.
Only after completing that unseen circuit did they re-enter the material realm, bringing with them an intent so profound and mysterious that it felt ancient.
It was a unique intent to eclipse everything, to erase everything, and to swallow light itself.
Below, no one could see those dark waves, but everyone felt the seemingly omnipresent darkness around them.
Even the composed, seemingly indifferent dark prince leading the Abyssal Dominion’s dark clan finally stiffened, and for the first ti, his calm cracked.
The mont that suffocating darkness had spread, he had started to scan the sky for its source with his Nightmare Dark Eye, but then his calm and lazy face had frozen in shock for the first ti as he had noticed that Ethan’s form was gone.
Even his secret ability, known as Nightmare Dark Eye, which was capable of perceiving astral shadows of people, knowing their inner fears, and also amplifying them to make them lose their minds, could only vaguely determine Ethan’s position.
It was like trying to pinpoint a star hidden behind endless clouds.
In that terrifying vision, he could see the astral manifestations of everyone else.
