The room fell into a hush, brief but charged.

It wasn’t the words. It was the way he said them—dangerously confident, unafraid, like a man who had finally found sothing worth laying everything down for.

And then, without a word, he turned to Julie.

But this wasn’t a casual glance.

Roman’s eyes locked on her with breathtaking intensity. His entire face softened—not just in expression, but in spirit.

The hardness that always clung to him, the unshakable control he wore like a tailored suit, lted away.

There was sothing reverent in the way he looked at her.

As if he was seeing her for the first ti and the thousandth ti all at once.

As if her existence alone cald the storm inside him.

His heart pulled toward her without hesitation, and his eyes followed, tracing every line of her face like he was morizing a masterpiece.

’ You changed everything in , Julienne,’ Roman thought, the words echoing through his mind like a quiet confession too sacred to speak aloud.

His gaze grew softer still, dipping into sothing more than love—admiration, awe, and a touch of disbelief, like he still couldn’t quite fathom that she was real.

His lashes lowered slightly, the hint of a smile forming as if the emotion swelling in his chest had found its way to his lips. But he didn’t say it out loud.

’You are different from them. All of them. Just... everyone.’ He said in his head.

His throat tightened. Sothing blood in his chest—warm, slow, all-consuming.

His eyes, usually sharp and unreadable, now shimred with the gentlest look he had ever worn.

’ And I love you.’ Roman said in his head.

There was no hesitation in the thought. No fear. No darkness. Just a quiet certainty that she had undone him in the most beautiful way.

He was no longer the untouchable king of shadows. Not when she was near.

The mont hung in the air like music only the two of them could hear.

Julie, her body trembling ever so slightly under the weight of his gaze, felt her heart skip.

She turned her head instinctively, like so invisible thread had pulled her toward him.

And when their eyes t, it was as though ti rippled and stopped.

She had seen him furious. She had seen him protective. She had seen him amused, guarded, and deeply dangerous.

But this... this was new.

He was looking at her like a man who had discovered sothing holy.

Like she was the beginning and end of every story he’d never dared to believe in.

Julie’s breath caught in her throat.

The way his lips had curled just slightly, the softness in his stare, the full-bodied silence that wrapped around them like a cocoon—it told her everything she needed to know.

That he ant it.

That every wound in his heart had started to heal because of her.

That he would burn the world if it ever tried to take her away.

And sohow, in all that intensity, there was peace in his gaze. A ho. A promise.

Julie’s cheeks flushed with heat. Not the shy kind of blush that begged to look away, but the kind that blood when love planted itself in the soul. She didn’t flinch this ti. Didn’t glance away or hide her smile.

She held his gaze. She smiled back softly, openly, and with a blooming sweetness that matched the look he was giving her.

A smile that said: I see you too, Roman.

A smile that said: I’m already yours.

While Max, Lazarus, and Simon sat side by side, their eyes collectively drifted toward Roman.

There was a quiet knowing in their expressions, the kind that only ca from long years of brotherhood and witnessing a man grow through storms.

Lazarus exhaled deeply, his shoulders finally relaxing as he leaned back against the velvety couch.

A soft grin played at the corners of his lips, half amused, half content. "I can finally rest in peace," he muttered dramatically, though there was genuine warmth in his voice.

Simon chuckled beside him, nudging his shoulder. "Rest in peace?" he scoffed.

"Man, now I feel like I need to find a girlfriend. If Roman feels this way just because of love—" he paused, nodding his head up and down like he’d just had a spiritual awakening, "—then how would I feel? It must be next level."

Max smirked, his gaze flicking toward Roman and then back to the glass in his hand. "He’s changed a lot, hasn’t he?" he said softly, his voice threaded with quiet awe.

Lazarus nodded, eyes still fixed on Roman. "Yeah. Like night and day."

There was a mont of shared silence between them—not heavy, but reflective. They weren’t just talking about Roman falling in love.

They were witnessing sothing deeper: a man who had long held the world at arm’s length finally letting soone in.

At the other end of the lounge, Julie felt it too.

It was a sensation she couldn’t quite put into words—like the air around her had shifted, thick with sothing tender and electric.

Her skin prickled, not uncomfortably, but with that odd awareness that soone was watching her. Not just watching—seeing.

She turned her head slowly, almost hesitantly, as though sothing inside her had been pulled by an invisible thread.

Her eyes t his.

Roman’s gaze was already there, waiting—intense, warm, and filled with so much silent emotion it could shatter the world.

And he didn’t look away.

Julie’s breath caught for a second, her heart stuttering in her chest.

She felt exposed—not in a vulnerable way, but as though Roman was looking past everything she wore on the outside and right into her soul.

His expression didn’t say much, but it said everything.

His eyes glowed with a kind of love that didn’t need to be spoken. A quiet, anchored kind of devotion.

There was no pretense in the way he looked at her, no hesitation, no guards, no fear. Just honesty. Just Roman.

Julie blushed, the warmth blooming across her cheeks like rose petals unfolding under the sun.

She instinctively looked away for a second—but sothing in her rebelled against the shyness.

Not this ti.

So she turned back and t his gaze fully, her smile blossoming slowly. It wasn’t forced.

It wasn’t shy. It was soft, knowing, and sweet—like a quiet answer to an unspoken question.

Their eyes held for a heartbeat longer.

In that small mont, the room around them faded into the background. The music, the laughter, the chatter—it all lted away, as if ti had taken a pause just for them.

And across the room, Max, Lazarus, and Simon continued to watch the scene unfold like it was the final piece of a puzzle falling into place.

"Well, damn," Simon whispered, nudging Lazarus again. "That man’s gone."

"He’s not just gone," Lazarus murmured, a small grin tugging at his lips. "He’s exactly where he wants to be."

Max lifted his glass in a mock toast, his tone teasing but genuine. "To Roman. The man we thought no woman could ever ta."

Simon smirked. "Correction: not tad. Loved into softness."

Lazarus laughed under his breath. "And honestly? That’s even more dangerous."

"Look," Sonia whispered to Samantha, who was deep in conversation and hadn’t noticed that Julie had slipped out of the chat.

Her gaze was fixed intently on sothing across the room.

Samantha furrowed her brows, then followed Sonia’s line of sight. Her eyes landed on Julie, and she quickly understood. Both won stifled their giggles, excitent bubbling up.

"Love, huh?" Samantha teased, nudging Julie’s shoulder gently. The sudden movent pulled Julie out of her daze, her eyes snapping back to them in surprise.

"Huh?" Julie blinked, a blank expression overtaking her face as she tried to catch up with what they were talking about.

Sonia smirked, leaning in slightly. "What are we seeing, Julie?" she teased, her voice dripping with playful curiosity.

Julie tilted her head, pretending not to understand, and the two ladies burst into laughter. "Love," they chid in unison, their voices full of mischief.

Julie’s cheeks flushed slightly, and she lowered her eyes, the corners of her lips curling into a soft, secretive smile.

She didn’t say anything—no words needed. The warmth in her chest was enough.

Sonia, eager to change the subject and add so fun to the evening, sat up straighter. "Sitting like this is getting boring. Why don’t we challenge the boys?"

she suggested, winking at Samantha and Julie, whose eyes imdiately sparkled at the thought of mischief.

"Yes! That sounds perfect," Samantha chid in, her face lighting up with excitent. Julie, still smiling, raised an eyebrow.

"But what kind of ga?" she asked, intrigued by the idea.

Sonia leaned in, a conspiratorial grin spreading across her face. "Here’s the plan," she said, her voice dropping to a whisper.

Both Julie and Samantha leaned closer, eager to hear the details.

The two won nodded eagerly, clearly in for whatever Sonia had in mind.

Julie glanced at Samantha, who was already nodding, and then turned back to Sonia.

"Yes, that sounds like a great idea," she said, her voice filled with enthusiasm.

Sonia, unable to hide her excitent, turned toward the group of n who were engaged in their own conversation.

"Hey, guys, care to take on the challenge from us girls?" she called out, winking at Max, who smirked in return.

"Sure, why not?" Max responded, clearly amused by the idea. Lazarus leaned back in his chair, raising an eyebrow.

"Okay, tell us the plan," he asked, his tone playful but intrigued.

Sonia’s smile widened. "We’ll each pick a song to sing. Each one of us will go head-to-head against one of you, and the winner will be the one who sings the best, according to the score we get. Simple, right?"

The n exchanged glances and nodded in agreent, intrigued by the challenge.

Julie, thinking for a mont, noticed sothing that had been bothering her.

"But there’s one small problem," she said, her voice soft. "There’s four of you... and only three of us."

The others paused, a flicker of thought crossing their faces.

Max looked at Julie, a playful glint in his eyes. "We can work with that. I’m sure we’ll figure it out."
