(Rose)

Today I sent Blu and Nokarlık together to venture in the depths of the city, where the jungle covers all.

My day alone, chores quickly done, is spent in another place.

It’s a good way outside, a long walk to reach. On the outskirts of the city where the edges of it collapsed into the sea.

We found a workshop to build boats there, small yachts.

Almost everything is rusted through of course. But not everything everything.

My hand slips gently along the skeleton of an unfinished boat, started decades ago and never completed.

The hull is still only made of this composite compound. A very hard plastic loaded with stray fibres of glass and coal.

It’s uneven. It’s hollow. It’s rough. It’s a very long way from ever becoming anything that properly floats, let alone sail, or fly...

Bittersweet mories sail around and my head.

I wanted this day on my own, because I knew this ghost would overwhelm for a while.

I feel the pain in my face that cos from rising tears.

I loved you. I miss you.

I really felt for you...

It pains that you died...

An hour maybe passes by. I wash my sorrowful face. I know my night sunshine will help shine again tomorrow as well.

I press my hands on the hull again, feeling how hollow and uneven it is.

Sailing with you has been one of the happiest mories of all my lives combined.

It may be shrouded by your loss, but this remains true and bright.

I breathe in and exhale slowly.

I’m ready to sail again.

Nokaranlık discovered the next day a face of her mother she had not quite seen before.

She had glimpses of it whilst I was studying on blood, but I lost that interest rapidly.

Now she does et the engineering Rose that designs and craft things out. This one can be surprisingly resourceful and thorough. And my daughter is going to help out.

It starts with rather heavy work. We’re clearing the road from the boathouse where the hull sleeps, toward a workshop where machines could still be used.

Then we build a huge vehicle to carry the boat away, dragging it for days over uneven path.

And Nokaranlık helps all the way, although the full picture still is away from her.

She doesn’t help with her full giant size, because the bigger and taller she becos, the more uneasy she goes. We noticed it before, but at full height and weight, even breathing is painful and her heart becos unsteady. There will be more training to do there as well, but let’s go one day and thing at a ti.

For this ti, she grew about three tres tall, to drag the chariot and boat relatively easily. That’s good for now.

She dared asking if she could swallow again. It seems I look sowhat tasty when I’m small to her eyes.

I refused.

R - Eat Blu instead.

B - What? No!

N - He he he.

Blu ran into the woods and Nok failed to catch her at her current size.

But that aside, her gigantic strength can give us the powers we need to make this work successful.

I gave then the responsibility of chemistry to Blu. She will use her knowledge of this science, but also of biology of plants and bacteria, to refine us so compounds and fuel we will need onward.

It mostly starts with starch, sugar and alcohol.

Nok will be responsible of resources gathering, especially wood to crush into chunks to feed the furnace, and tals to lt.

Funnily enough, the first oversized tool we crafted together were gloves for Nokarlık.

We used layers of car steel roofs, to give her a small protection to the palms of her hands and fingers.

With that, she beca able to crush trees and tallic structures with ease, fuelling a resurrected furnace.

I overviewed them and planned the work. Not that Blu needed any supervision. Nok however still is young and prone to slip. Despite the gloves, she hurts herself a lot.

When she does, shrinking back usually heals everything instantly, although the pain can linger. Also the process of transformations back and forth, with the efforts when being tall and the wounds being inflicted, it all quickly exhausts her.

So we go easier and easier, and quickly just forbid more than one transformation a day.

I play less with her since this work begun, so to balance it, either Blu does or I give her gas like quests to do.

Sotis it’s intellectual challenges, so she has to play on the computer. Sotis it’s physical challenges, like a drawing on trees or wall with a sword.

Sotis it’s more useful like gathering specific food or resources.

She’s able to explore by herself now. Safely however, I’m not fully confident yet. But she can venture on her own already.

And while she works, play or study, I gradually make a boat co to life.

It will have arteries, just in case we end up finding a new anti-gravitational source to feed it with.

A thin shell of alloys gradually grows over the husk. Then a thin layer of tallic oxides grows in colourful ceramics on top. Blu helps filling and growing that fluoride skin.

I work and treat the wood that slowly builds the inside.

We will need more synthetic cloth for the sail. And we’ll see what engine and propeller we can craft around here. None of us are very experienced in chanics, but we’re resourceful in cities such as here. We’ll figure sothing out, and likely will find an engine sowhere that just needs a minor tweak and a clean to resurrect.

~

All that still is a lot of work. More than we can do in a temporary settlent.

So we began looking for a new ho, nearer the workshop. We found what probably was the quartermaster’s house, not far from the shipyard, in a corner of a rocky creek. A place the city or port could hardly grow over because it’s narrow and surrounded by cliffs.

But for a house it’s luxurious.

Half of it is collapsed. The other half is a mushrooms and colourful frogs’ sanctuary it would seem. Sorry for them. We chase out the ones I can prevent Nok from gobbling whole.

She soon regretted it anyway. These are clearly venomous.

First we built our house. Blu restarted farming. Nok restarted piling up stones into cairns or towers in every room, to hold the ceilings up again.

Tomorrow and forward, we will build a ship to sail north.
