"Hurry up and pack the supplies we just found; we need to evacuate!"

As soone who has survived multiple life-and-death tests, Zhao Yunhai imdiately issued the instructions.

"Evacuate? Where to? We don’t even have a car now, how do we evacuate!" Bi Yue Shan expressed doubt again, noticing that he was sowhat panicked by the predicant in front of him.

Understanding this, old Zhao responded imdiately, "No matter where we evacuate to, we definitely can’t stay trapped here! So, I rember there was a room with an open door inside when we arrived; we should go there to temporarily avoid the trouble."

Considering that the lock was broken and zombies were approaching the teaching building, old Zhao didn’t make the rash decision to break through.

Because he knew very well that with their current combat power, it was impossible to fight their way out of the school, so "temporarily avoid trouble and wait for rescue" was the best strategy.

"Grab as much as we can to eat, drink, and use, we’re leaving!"

The four of them carried the pitiful supplies they collected, running fast into the office room just 2 ters away.

Lock the door! Block the table! Use all the heavy objects available to wedge against the door.

After doing all this, old Zhao and the others slumped down exhausted on the floor.

The once quiet hallway gradually beca noisy, with occasional low growls coming from the ground floor, especially the echoing tones that sounded truly eerie to the ears.

"What do we do next?" Wiping the cold sweat from his forehead—despite the storm outside—Yue Guishan couldn’t avoid sweating out of fear.

"Wait!" He firmly gave the word, then old Zhao explained, "Right now, the ground floor must be crawling with beasts, so all we can do is wait! If my estimate is correct, in a few hours at the most, Tang and the others will realize sothing’s wrong! They’ll definitely send soone to check it out, and that will be our chance to escape!"

"But what if they don’t co? I an, they might think we’re already dead, so..." Yue Guishan hadn’t known the survivors for long, so he couldn’t understand their bonds. In his view, this world rarely has soone willing to take on a risky mission for possibly dead people, but...

"Don’t worry! Tang and the others will definitely co!" Without extra words, old Zhao confidently replied.

"Since that’s the case, we better search this room for any supplies. No matter what, we need to be prepared ahead of ti." Wang Zhongyu trusted old Zhao because the longer you stay with the Survivor Squad, the more you feel their family-like closeness.

Giving a nod on his own, old Zhao took the lead and started rummaging through the desk behind him.

The office room wasn’t small, about 40 square ters, with a total of 6 desks and two rows of wooden cabinets.

Through their search, the squad managed to find so usable supplies.

A cup of instant noodles, 2 bottles of mineral water, half a pack of biscuits, so bagged snacks and cigarettes; although not much, it would last for 2 to 3 days if used sparingly.

"Hope Tang and the others co soon!" With a silent prayer in his heart, old Zhao picked up a laptop that he found on the office manager’s desk and placed it in front of him.

"What are you doing, old Zhao?" Seeing old Zhao cover the laptop with his jacket, Bi Dahu asked with so confusion.

"I’m going to turn it on and see if I can find sothing useful for us." As he spoke, old Zhao’s right finger pressed the power button, and instantly, the familiar Windows startup sound played.

"Ding-dong-ding-dong~" Even though he covered the computer with clothing, the sudden startup sound startled the survivors.

Fortunately, the welco sound wasn’t too long, otherwise, if it lured the creatures from the ground floor up here to check, that would have been a sure problem.

As ti ticked away, the supply team led by Xu Renjie was moving smoothly.

They routinely found a secluded alley and began a thorough sweep from one end to the other.

Three hours later, they returned to the base.

"How’s it going? Have old Zhao and the others returned?" Just after moving the supplies to the storage room, Xu Renjie didn’t have ti to drink water before calling over the stationed soldiers, asking anxiously.

It’s no surprise, old Zhao’s task this ti directly affected the progress of future actions.

Honestly, their task’s success or failure nearly determined the lives of the captured comrades and the 200 plus people in the gym.

Therefore, Xu Renjie’s anxiety was, in fact, expected.

"Report, Captain! Old Zhao and his team have not returned yet!" The soldier truthfully replied.

Xu Renjie nodded, thinking it’s only been a little over three hours; based on old Zhao’s actions, this timing still falls within the normal range.

So he waved his hand, dispersing the reporting subordinates.

About two more hours passed, and the anxious survivors still did not see old Zhao and his team; now not only was Xu Renjie, but even Tang Xiaoquan, who usually had good composure, was starting to get a bad feeling.

"Damn! What’s going on here?! Nearly 5 hours now, even if they were traveling, old Zhao and the others should be back by now!" As Wang Qiang paced back and forth, he appeared restless.

"Wang! Don’t worry! Sit down! I think maybe the road’s too slippery, so Wang’s driving cautiously, which may have delayed them!" Although these words ca from his mouth, even Tang Xiaoquan himself had difficulty believing this attempt at reassurance.

The rain kept pouring, constantly creating "tap-tap" notes between the buildings.

And these strongly rhythmical notes were constantly tapping the survivors’ already rapid hearts.

Ti slipped by another hour, and Wang Qiang finally couldn’t suppress his urgent thoughts, he stood up abruptly and slamd his palm on the wooden table: "No! I can’t just sit here waiting like a fool! It’s been so long without them returning! There must be trouble!"

No need for Wang Qiang to say it; all the survivors knew that what was supposed to be completed in 3-4 hours was still pending after almost 6 hours, with no sign of the action team returning.

So inevitably, even if old Zhao’s team didn’t run into trouble, they must be on the verge of it.

Xu Renjie lifted his eyes to look at Wang Qiang standing up decisively, and after a brief mont of thought, he imdiately made a decision: "Zhang Zhicai, Li Xiaoxin, Tang Xiaoquan, Wang Qiang, Lei Tong, the five of you follow to the college to investigate the situation! The rest stay here awaiting orders!!" (To be continued. If you like this work, feel free to vote for recomndation or monthly tickets on Qidian; your support is my biggest motivation.
