Early the next morning, the well-rested survivors got up early, and Wei Yang prepared porridge and stead buns for breakfast. In addition, she filled all the containers in the house with hot water for use on the road.

After all, once we set off, it wouldn’t be very suitable to start a fire to make hot food, so it’s always good to have so warm water just in case.

Since the day before, they had already loaded everything they needed to take onto the vehicles, so the survivors were quite relaxed now.

Everyone picked up their belongings and walked out the door.

Before leaving, Wei Yang and Tang Xiaoquan each left a note in the neighborhood.

The content of Wei Yang’s note was mainly to express gratitude for the use of resources, houses, and so on, of the residential area during this ti.

This kind of gratitude might seem a bit silly, after all, in the apocalypse, everything is ownerless, and you can use whatever you want. Besides, the owners of those houses might already be long gone, unable to see these notes.

But putting oneself in others’ shoes, anything is possible. If one day the apocalypse ends, and the hoowners co back after a long ordeal only to find their hos maliciously occupied, that feeling would definitely be unpleasant.

So Wei Yang chose to express her gratitude this way. Whether or not anyone would see it, she did it, and that was enough.

On the other hand, the note that Tang Xiaoquan left was entirely for Xu Renjie. Of course, Xu Renjie didn’t know about this; to be precise, Tang Xiaoquan hadn’t told anyone.

The note was very simple, just recording the direction they were heading.

If Luo Yi and the others survived, and if they happened to find this place, at least it would give them a chance to reunite with Xu Renjie.

Farewells are sorrowful. As the survivors began to board the vehicles according to their assigned distribution, no one spoke, everyone maintained their silence.

This migration saw every survivor taking part. With the addition of Sharp Blade Company soldiers and He Jing’s mother and daughter, their numbers had grown from the original 9 to 19.

Though the increase in personnel strengthened the team, it also brought so inevitable issues.

For instance, the increased consumption of supplies, conflicts in personality managent, and so on.

As it is now, ensuring the safe transport of so many mbers to a yet-unknown shelter was certainly very important to Lao Zhao and the others.

For this reason, they formulated a plan.

First, current mbers will be divided into 5 groups, excluding simple passengers like He Jing and Fangfang. Other mbers were assigned to the Maintenance Group, dical Group, Outer Periter Recon and Assault Group, Inner Periter Security Group.

The Maintenance Group, as the na suggests, repairs things. Lao Zhao, Wang Zhongyu, Bi Dahu, and Yue Guishan are mainly in this group, and any vehicle-related issues during the journey are handled by them.

The dical Group consists of two people, Wei Yang and Zhang Zhicai, who have dical knowledge. Their tasks include ensuring basic health and hygiene of the mbers and managing the distribution of supplies.

As for the last two groups, the Outer Periter Recon and Assault Group and the Inner Periter Security Group, it’s pretty straightforward: ensuring the convoy’s safety en route.

The forr is led by Xu Renjie with seven soldiers; the latter is jointly managed by Lao Lin and Hu Xiaodong along with the team mbers under them.

Secondly, for this operation, survivors will utilize all available vehicles, except the large excavator.

The reason is simple: it consus too much fuel. Although it has unrivaled crushing power, the amount of fuel needed for such a long journey is beyond what the survivors can currently afford.

So, reluctantly, it will be left at the base.

The other three vehicles will be assigned roles as front, middle, and rear according to their functions.

Looking at the na, the front vehicle is undoubtedly important. Not only does it lead the way, but it also surveys the terrain and reacts to ergency situations imdiately; in short, the front vehicle is the brain of the convoy.

Hence, Xu Renjie, Tang Xiaoquan, Lei Tong, and Hua Biao naturally beca its passengers.

Though the rear vehicle might not hold the sa status as the front, as the rearguard, the personnel in the vehicle cannot be neglected.

Lao Zhao and three soldiers were assigned to this vehicle.

All remaining individuals were concentrated in the middle vehicle. To ensure driving safety, the survivors specially assigned the team’s best driver, Wang Zhongyu, here.

Although he doesn’t have experience driving buses, his years of racing experience make his ability to handle ergencies much stronger than others.

Lastly, the survivors established necessary regulations for communication and handling asures during the drive, requiring all vehicles to follow the front vehicle’s commands.

Detailed planning is the foundation of any action.

Proper execution is the key to determining success or failure.

With Xu Renjie’s command, the survivors began boarding the vehicles according to their assignnts.

Five minutes later, everyone was on board.

The mont of departure finally ca, and the survivors instinctively looked back at the buildings where they once lived.

The next second, the roaring engines started one after another, and the three vehicles, filled with people, slowly started up.

After leaving the street outside the neighborhood, the convoy gradually picked up speed.

The light wind that kept blowing in gradually swept away the sense of reluctance in everyone’s hearts.

Fangfang widened her big eyes, curiously peering outside.

Everything outside felt both unfamiliar and novel to her; the little one evidently no longer rembered what the original world looked like. In the past four-plus months, all she’d seen was the small place in Yuhuan Gymnasium.

Seeing Fangfang’s sowhat excited expression, Wei Yang sighed softly.

As a woman, motherhood is instinctual; she felt deep sympathy for Fangfang because the latter’s experiences reminded her of her own childhood.

Both lost their relatives at a young age; both learned to be independent too soon. But overall, it seed Fangfang’s ordeal was even harder.

Because Wei Yang at least had a father who accompanied her growing up, but Fangfang?

Her father died tragically, and her mother is now ntally depressed. More importantly, Fangfang doesn’t yet know these truths.

But paper can’t wrap fire forever; Fangfang will eventually grow up. Wei Yang was truly worried about how the little one would react upon learning all the truth.

Thinking of this, Wei Yang felt a sharp pain in her heart. If given the chance, she really wanted to ask the heavens: if punishing humanity, target us adults, why even spare such young children? They’re innocent!

Alas, she will never get an answer to this question.

Life must go on, hardships must still be overco.

The convoy of survivors, filled with hope and future, rapidly advanced. Before long, they arrived at the city’s toll exit... (To be continued.
