Ryan and Helen continued to have a lot of pleasurable sex during the ti that Mirian and Karol were still out attending to what Ryan might as well have called financial matters.
After both were left exhausted.
Ryan got out of bed; his body was still covered in sweat, and he felt the cold air seeping through the half-open second-floor window of their room in the inn.
’We took longer than I expected.’
He approached the bed, casting his gaze upon Helen’s naked body.
She was breathing calmly.
Ryan stroked her face and then her hair, and she seed to show a slight smile, though she was now fast asleep.
"You did great for your first ti," he whispered, looking at her, though he knew she wouldn’t hear him.
He was still naked.
Then he headed to the bathroom and started to shower.
After about ten minutes, he ca out and put his clothes back on.
Helen was still sound asleep.
He covered her with the blanket, hiding her beautiful naked body.
’Strange, those two still haven’t returned even though so much ti has passed. Did sothing co up? Or maybe selling those materials is just that complicated?’
Ryan left the room and headed to the first floor.
Which was the part of the inn that usually served as the reception and had a space for serving food.
But even before reaching the first floor, he could already hear a deep voice with a very unpleasant tone.
And another sweet, calm voice trying to diffuse the atmosphere.
"If there are no rooms available, then kick one of your custors out!"
"But sir... we can’t do that, it’s against our policies. Please, I beg you to calm down."
"I don’t give a damn about your policies. This is the closest establishnt to the southern zone. I’m going to the dungeon tomorrow—I’m A-rank, didn’t you know?"
"I understand that, but as I said, we currently have no rooms available here. Let suggest another establishnt," the girl said, still maintaining a calm and respectful tone while looking at what seed to be a list of nas on a piece of paper.
"Shut your mouth already, woman! Show that list. I’ll see which custors arrived today and tell them to leave. My group is on the way, and we need two or three rooms," the man said, snatching the paper from her hands.
Ryan continued to watch, but now he began to approach the reception desk.
There weren’t many people eating on the first floor, and the person at the reception wasn’t the sa one who had checked them in earlier.
She looked like a young girl, even younger than him or his companions.
"But sir, I’m telling you that you can’t..." the girl said, her voice now sounding worried.
She tried to reach out to take the list back, but the man grabbed her wrist tightly, causing her to let out a whimper of pain.
But Ryan was already at his shoulder, and he too grabbed the man’s wrist.
"Let her go!"
’There’s always soone like this no matter where you go, isn’t there?’
The people around were flustered and looked sowhat worried; aside from that annoying adventurer, there didn’t seem to be anyone else capable of fighting.
"Do you have any idea who I am?" he asked with a tone of superiority.
Ryan squeezed the adventurer’s wrist with force.
He released the girl’s hand while groaning in pain.
"I don’t care who you are. I believe I told you to let her go."
"Damn you! Who the hell do you think you are!?" The man drew the massive hamr from his back and attacked Ryan.
He caught the hamr with one hand.
"Why are you being so violent? You’re bothering the good people of this city. Do they really allow guys like you to be adventurers?"
A commotion started around them.
The people didn’t understand who Ryan was.
The girl behind the desk was stunned as she watched them, her face filled with fear since the man had drawn his weapon.
"What’s with this guy?" the man muttered. "I can’t pull my hamr back. And how was he able to stop it with his bare hands?" He struggled with the hand holding the hamr, trying to break free from Ryan’s grip.
But it was useless.
He used both hands but got the sa result.
"W... who are you, damn you?" he asked. His expression was no longer one of arrogance.
He looked nervous; sweat even ran down his cheeks.
Crash.
What they heard was the sound of all the tal on the head of the hamr shattering into pieces.
"Oh, sorry. I think I squeezed harder than I intended."
The expressions of the man and the people around them changed even more.
It was as if they had seen a ghost.
The man fell back onto his rear. The words wouldn’t co out.
"Wh... wh... what."
"Hey, I don’t follow you. I already apologized for breaking it, but it was your own fault. And I guess you’re lucky—if they were here, you’d probably be dead by now," Ryan said, referring to the girls in his group.
’Maybe I should pay for it? I don’t think it’s worth much if it broke that easily.’
"Who the hell are you!" The man got up, his face looking like he’d seen a ghost; even so, with his whole body trembling, he lunged to attack Ryan.
"And here I wanted to resolve this without a fuss," he muttered in annoyance.
He dodged the adventurer’s attack with a slight movent.
And with the palm of his hand, he struck his neck.
The adventurer’s knees buckled, and he fell to the floor unconscious.
"I’m very sorry about this. I didn’t an to start a fight."
Ryan said, turning back to the girl at the desk.
’Now they’re really going to give the sa infamous reputation Mirian and Helen have. What a pain. Now I won’t even be able to call them out on anything. I hope they don’t find out about this.’
"No, no, really, it’s fine. I’m so grateful that you helped . My father isn’t here, and I didn’t know what to do with soone like that..." she said, relieved.
Ryan was about to respond, but a voice ca from behind and interrupted him.
"You’re quite strong, kid. We were thinking of taking care of it right before you did."
And another voice spoke as well.
"But you beat us to it."
When Ryan looked at them.
An adult man with a beard.
A girl with long hair that fell past her back.
Both were ard with swords similar to fencing foils in thickness.
But their clothes looked very common.
Ryan looked at them with suspicion.
"Well, if you were here, you should have done sothing from the beginning."
Then the long-haired girl spoke.
"You’re right, but we are Holy Knights. We aren’t on duty, but we are in this nation as guests. We can’t attack adventurers unless we witness them causing trouble, and he hadn’t done that yet."
’Holy Knights? What the hell is that?’
"Are you saying you would have allowed him to hit the girl?"
"When you put it that way, it sounds bad, but yes, sothing like that had to happen for us to be able to intervene."
Murmurs started imdiately.
"Holy Knights? What are they doing here?"
"Are they planning to ally with this nation?"
"Don’t be stupid, that could never happen."
