The Intelligence of the Heaven Devil
An elderly man stood before them, his body muscular and well-built despite his age, a heavy aura of power surrounding him. Beside him stood an arrogant young boy, his eyes overflowing with superiority and hostility.
The old man and Zhuo Fan exchanged glances for a brief mont before the latter spoke in a calm yet sharp tone:
"So… you are the head of the Xue family, if I'm not mistaken."
A cold smile appeared on the old man's face, his piercing eyes fixed on Zhuo Fan.
"You have good eyes, boy. Tell … are you the one who hard my son?"
At that mont, Zhuo Fan slightly turned his head toward Arthur. Arthur smiled calmly, a brief smile carrying one clear aning: it's yours.
Zhuo Fan stepped forward without hesitation and said:
"Yes, I did. Do you have a problem with that? Your idiot son tried to take sothing that didn't belong to him."
No more words were needed.
The younger son of the Xue family charged toward Zhuo Fan in blind rage, and the tension in the area exploded instantly as the battle between Zhuo Fan and the head of the Xue family erupted—strength against cunning, violence against precise calculations.
On the other side, Ning'er stood frozen in place, her eyes following the scene with obvious worry.
Arthur noticed that. He walked toward her with calm, asured steps.
Ning'er trembled the mont he approached. "W-What do you w-want to do?"
Her voice was low and fearful, as though so lingering shadow still haunted her.
Arthur stopped in front of her and lowered his voice.
"I'm sorry, Ning'er. I didn't an to scare you… I just lost control earlier…"
She looked at him hesitantly, then asked in a voice filled with sincere curiosity and warmth. Despite her young age, she had understood Arthur's feelings from the pain in his eyes.
"What… what happened to your brothers?"
Arthur let out a deep sigh and looked directly into her eyes without evasion.
"They were killed. And I couldn't do anything to save them."
Ning'er's eyes widened, and she covered her mouth in silent shock.
"So… I apologize for frightening you."
She did not answer with words. Instead, she gently held his hand and smiled warmly, free of fear.
"Don't apologize… big brother."

Arthur smiled quietly, but suddenly raised his hand and caught three small stones that had been launched toward Ning'er without her noticing. He crushed them effortlessly in his hand, his eyes still following the intense battle.
Then he turned to her and calmly asked:
"Ning'er… You're from the Xue family, aren't you?"
The question struck her like lightning.
"H-How did you know?!"
"So my guess was correct."
At that mont, the battle ended. The head of the Xue family stepped back as Zhuo Fan declared his victory.
Only monts later, the full truth was revealed: the head of the Xue family… was Ning'er's father.
He embraced her tightly, as though the entire world had disappeared around them.
Zhuo Fan stood there in shock.
"What?!"
Arthur sighed and looked at him with slight disbelief.
"Don't tell you didn't see that coming. Ever since we entered the city, everything was obvious."
Then he began explaining in a calm, analytical tone:
"Her knowledge of the city, the secret path, her concern for the soldiers, her fear during your fight… None of that was the behavior of an ordinary girl. She was afraid for them, not of them."
He finished speaking while Zhuo Fan remained silent.
The head of the Xue family walked toward Arthur and stared at him with interest.
"It seems you're the smart one among you. What's your na, boy?"
"I'm this bastard's brother… and my na is Arthur."
"Arthur…"
The man stepped back, grabbed his son, and left. As they walked away, their conversation could clearly be heard:
"Father, we can't go back!" "Then let's leave." "But… what are we supposed to say to the You Ming family?" "Shut up, you fool!"
While Zhuo Fan was still stunned, another, heavier thought settled into Arthur's mind.
'The You Ming family… again.
They want Ning'er… that much is obvious. But why? And why did her father leave her with us?'
The three entered the small cave leading to Beast Mountain.
After a long while, they erged from an opening in the ground, covered in mud and dirt.
Before them stretched a peaceful forest, beautiful in a surprisingly tranquil way.
Arthur noticed the disgust in Ning'er's eyes as she looked at her dirty clothes, though she said nothing. Arthur smiled to himself and chuckled.
"Ning'er… is there a river nearby?"
A pure smile imdiately blood across her face as she quickly led the way.
"Yes, follow ."
They soon arrived at a clear blue river.
Zhuo Fan and Arthur imdiately jumped in after removing their clothes.
"Ah… this feels amazing."
Ning'er's face turned red, and she quickly turned her back and hurried away.
A short while later, the two ca out. Zhuo Fan wore simple clothes, while Arthur wore his black kimono, his long hair falling calmly behind him.
"Well then, Ning'er… lead the way."
She hesitated before speaking with extre embarrassnt:
"But… I haven't bathed yet."
The two silently laughed, then burst into laughter when they realized what had happened. Ning'er stomped the ground angrily before leaving.
When she returned, she looked completely different. Her beauty was no longer hidden.
Zhuo Fan smiled.
"Please, Lady Xue."
'Look at this bastard…'
Arthur smiled as he followed behind them.
