Mothers were tenacious creatures that would do anything for their children. She had seen her mother acting that way and judging by what Ma Terry was like; she didn’t doubt that the woman sacrificed everything for her children.

"It’s nice eting you, Ma Terry. How about I send you ho? I won’t feel comfortable if I just let you go!" Diamond suggested as she looked at Ma Terry with worry.

Ma Terry didn’t sense any malicious intentions from her savior and since she was also in a hurry to go and see her children and prepare a al for them, having soone send her would do her good.

"If .... If that is okay with you, then ... then please send ho. I ... I will be eternally grateful," Ma Terry gratefully implored as she looked at Diamond with hope in her eyes.

"Let’s go. Your children must be waiting for you," Diamond said beamingly at Ma Terry as she helped the woman to rise.

"Umm, they are ho alone, and I .... I need to go to them."

"And you will."

With Ma Terry being less wary of being with her and talking to her, Diamond was also at ease and started to talk more with her.

Diamond took Ma Terry to her new car and made her sit in the passenger’s seat, although it took a long ti to convince her to get inside.

Ma Terry kept on insisting that she was dirty and shouldn’t ss with the car, but Diamond found her excuses ridiculous.

Was a car seat that important than a life?

However, she managed to convince the woman through reasoning, and minutes later, Diamond was on another gravel road just one kiloter away from where Ma Terry had collapsed earlier.

"So, where were you coming from?" Diamond asked curiously as she drove slowly since the road was a bit bad.

"There is a ... a village on the other side of the road. I have a .... my sister lives that side," Ma Terry replied quickly despite the stamring.

"You guys must be close!"

"Yes, we are very close. She .... She has been very helpful to . life .... Life can be hard at tis ... you know?"

"Indeed, life is tricky, but as long as those that we love surround us, everything will be perfect."

Talking to Ma Terry proved to be quite refreshing. They were both different and sohow talking to her made her appreciate even the tiniest gift that the system rewarded her with.

She was complaining about not getting enough while others weren’t even getting any.

How could her karma be good when she was like that?

It took her fifteen minutes by road to reach Ma Terry’s house and honestly, when she saw the place, her heart ached once again.

The village was more scattered than she thought. There weren’t a lot of villagers around, as most people probably went to the cities to seek greener pastures.

In the place where Ma Terry was living, there was a thatched hut that looked very fishy and unstable to look at.

It was the kind that if heavy rains visited, the hut wouldn’t hold. It would completely collapse from the impact, and she sincerely hoped that no one was brave enough to sleep in that hut.

The other building was a squared room, which she assud to be the bedroom. The roof seed to have several gaps which were roofed by black plastics and a lot of stones that were used to hold the roof, probably from flying away.

She didn’t even see a well or a borehole anywhere near where she was. Seeing all that, she couldn’t help but wonder just how Ma Terry and her kids were surviving.

When the car entered the desolate yard, the door to the supposed bedroom she thought was opened.

Diamond was curious as to who was going to co out of the room that she wouldn’t even dare to stay for long, afraid of the dire consequences that her life might face. She lted when she saw two children with runny noses dashing out.

"Mama!"

"Mama!"

Diamond watched tearfully as two kids, a boy probably around seven or eight and a small girl who looked five or six years old, joyfully ran toward their mother with twinkling eyes.

Diamond no longer could concentrate on the state of the children, as all she could see was the joy of the children who were seeing their mother.

Despite being in such a poor state and living in a way that she wouldn’t dare to live or want to try in any way, those kids looked happy.

And it was the happiness between the mother and children that made her get so emotional.

"My babies, did you wait for long?" Ma Terry asked softly as she ruffled her children’s hair.

"No, we didn’t. We were obedient and didn’t go outside at all," the young boy answered his mother as he looked at her with that ’praise ’ look on his face.

"You did a good job."

The more she listened to Ma Terry, the more Diamond started realizing that Ma Terry wasn’t a stamr at all. Did she get duped or was it because she was now in a familiar environnt making her feel safe?

"Mama, who is this pretty sister?" the little girl with a runny nose suddenly asked as she looked at Diamond, who was currently in the middle of contemplating.

When Ma Terry heard her daughter’s question, she suddenly rembered that she hadn’t introduced her savior to her children yet.

"Oh! Kids, et Aunt Diamond," Ma Terry said to the kids as she looked at the kids before shifting towards Diamond.

Diamond smiled at the two kids as gently as she could.

"Hello Aunty!" the boy quickly greeted with a grin after his mother finished his introduction.

"Hello big boy, what’s your na?" Diamond asked teasingly as she looked at the clever boy whose eyes were filled with so much life.

"Auntie, I am Terry and that’s my little sister, Grace," Terry, the young by introduced himself and the sister at the sa ti.

"Wow! It’s nice eting you, Terry and Grace," Diamond cheerfully said as she looked at the siblings.

Grace shyly looked at Diamond before hiding behind her mother.

"Hehe, it seed that Grace likes you very much," Ma Terry chuckled softly upon seeing her daughter’s actions.

"Then I am relieved. You have great children with you."

"I am blessed and they keep going."

With the introductions completed, Ma Terry wanted to offer Diamond a seat, but she then realized that she didn’t have any suitable chairs to offer such a noble savior of hers.

She didn’t even have clean water or food to serve. She suddenly began to feel down.

"Ma Terry, do you live here by yourselves?" Diamond suddenly asked upon seeing that Ma Terry was facing a dilemma and one that she wished to not be involved in.

"Oh! I ... I .. it’s just and the kids," she answered after a while.

"What about your husband? Doesn’t he live with you?" Diamond asked curiously.

Having such small kids, how was it possible for them to stay by themselves without the man of the house?

"That man left us. It’s just us!" with gritted teeth, Ma Terry answered hatefully.

Diamond felt sorry and apologetic for opening so old wounds, however, she didn’t have a choice.

Her charitable side was starting to surface, and she needed so more information if she really wanted to lend a hand.

"I am sorry about that. Anyway, I asked because I wanted to see if there was a way that I could help you," she ca clean to Ma Terry.

Ma Terry gratefully looked at Diamond before she said, "I am already grateful that you saved my life. And I wouldn’t want to keep on imposing on you as you have done enough."

"Don’t overthink much. I haven’t done a single thing at all and after seeing you, I would feel bad if I didn’t do anything about it. How about we go in the car and talk?" Diamond suggested.

Since she couldn’t keep on standing forever, she might as well be comfortable and talk without being worried about other things.

Ma Terry pondered about it for a bit before she agreed. She instructed her children to take the basket with the vegetables in the kitchen and start preparing them while the two of them went into the car and started talking.

"Are there any schools nearby?" Diamond asked as soon as they were inside.

"It’s not nearby, but there is one," Ma Terry answered.

"If I were to allow you to live in the city, would you take it?"

Ma Terry looked at Diamond with an ’I don’t buy this,’ gaze but still responded, "That will depend on what grounds you are giving that opportunity for. People don’t just help others for nothing."

Diamond flashed a grin at Ma Terry, loving how the woman’s brain worked.

’At least she isn’t stupid.’
