"I'm sorry to be the one responsible for bringing the bad news, but I think I found what we ca for" - said Sofia as she looked at the soldiers with a conflicted expression.
Mirio remained silent while her companions remained silent, after all, there went their hopes of returning.
"We'll check for a few minutes and co back, I think they're right and it's best we don't risk too much" - Lindow replied as the soldiers began to celebrate in their minds at their leader's words.
Sophia smiled when she heard this, but her expression changed as the earth began to shake - "!"
"Shit!" - Lindow exclaid as he felt the shaking getting bigger and bigger, and what made it worse, was that whatever he was doing, it was close, very close - "Let's hide!"
"You don't have to say it twice!" - Maria exclaid as she ran alongside Jeff and Mirio.
Lindow grabbed Sofia by the hand and ran after the group, but to her terror, she noticed how a group of [Aragami] appeared in front of them - ". . ."
[Look who we have here, if it isn't a group of worms trying to enter my ho] - said the [Dyaus Pita] of a different color as he walked in the direction of the group.
"I don't know what you're trying to say, animal, but if I'm honest, I don't think it's anything good" - replied Lindow as he prepared to fight.
[Animal] - muttered the [Dyaus Pita] with an amused tone - [It's the first ti an insect has called that way, I guess there's a first ti for everything].
The huge [Aragami] watched the group carefully, but his expression changed when he felt sothing strange coming from Lindow.
[I don't know what it is that is forcing to hunt them] - said the [Dyaus Pita] while squinting - [But seeing that they have reached the entrance of my den, I think it would be rude not to devour them].
"Prepare for attack!" - Lindow exclaid as he noticed the change in the expressions of the [Aragami] that were surrounding them.
[Interesting reaction ti, but not enough] - muttered the [Dyaus Pita] as he gazed boredly at the small group of humans - [Attack!]
[ROAR!] - the underlings of the huge beast didn't think twice to follow his instructions. All the [Aragami] present launched themselves against Lindow's group while the humans made a monuntal effort to try to escape the place.
"Alpha Formation!" exclaid Lindow as the soldiers lined up and braced for impact as they slowly backed away.
[Dyaus Pita] watched everything in silence as he enjoyed the limited feeling of control, after all, he too was being controlled like a puppet so he could attack the humans for a reason he didn't know.
"Sir, we need to find a facility so we can reduce the risk of ambush!" - Jeff exclaid as he bit his lip because he never thought things would change so drastically.
"He's right, Lindow!" - Sophia exclaid as she began to feel the pressure building - "We can't stay on open ground, not when we can be surrounded in a matter of seconds!"
"Let's keep retreating!" - Lindow roared as he cut an [Aragami] in half - "I just rembered there's a small, nearly destroyed building just a few ters away!"
The soldiers felt hope returning, so they increased their efforts to survive.
[Dyaus Pita] continued to watch silently because this was the only way to maintain this little sense of freedom he had, after all, the voice that was forcing him to attack was telling him to finish Lindow as quickly as possible.
[Don't even think about it] - muttered [Dyaus Pita] as he frowned - [I'll follow your instructions, but I'm going to do it my way].

30 minutes had passed, and by now Lindow and the others were taking a little breather.
The group had barricaded themselves inside a nearly demolished building, and were honestly in low spirits, after all, they had been surrounded by a small army of [Aragami].
[Dyaus Pita] was silently watching them from the outside, occasionally ordering his subordinates to attack to prevent their prey from resting long enough to be a problem.
"I'm sorry" - muttered Lindow as he looked at each of his companions, taking special care on Sophia - "It's all my fault".
"No, I was the one who decided to follow you, Lindow" - replied Sofia with a sad smile on her face. She slowly walked over to her boyfriend and caressed his cheek as she tried to lift his spirits, only to notice the dull look on the black-haired man's face.
"We knew we might die on this mission, so you don't have to worry" - Mirio said as Jeff nodded.
"At least I'm going to die together with my special person" - said Maria as she sat on her lover's legs and gave him a little kiss on the cheek.
"The only thing we can do now, is to complete the mission and hope for the best" - said Mirio as she looked at her leader - "That's why we need you to be in perfect condition, Leader Lindow, after all, you are our ace."
Lindow slowly looked up before nodding weakly. He knew he was being a bad leader by losing hope and going into a state of depression, but at the sa ti there was nothing he could do to stop it. It was the first ti he had failed so catastrophically, and what was worse, was that one of the people who would die, was his girlfriend, one of the most important people in his life - "Sorry, thanks for making wake up."
"It's good to see that you reacted, because if you were still depressed, then yes we would be dead" - Mirio said while looking at his companions who nodded.
"Right, if our best man is not fit to fight, then our hopes of survival will turn negative" - replied Jeff as he looked at Maria and gave her a little pinch on the butt.
"Kya!" - Maria exclaid as she gave a little jump from the pain - "What was that for!"
"For good luck" - Jeff replied with a smile, though his expression quickly changed to a serious one - "Listen, Maria, I want you when you see the best ti to do it ,to run away without looking back while we make so ti"
"!" - Maria's eyes widened in surprise when she heard this as she prepared to argue with her lover, but she fell silent when she heard her leader's voice.
"That goes for you too, Sofia" - Lindow said seriously as he looked at his girlfriend - "I want you to escape without looking back."
"Don't even think about it, Amamiya Lindow!" - Sofia exclaid angrily - "I'm not going to let my boyfriend sacrifice himself while I run for my life!"
"The blonde bimbo is right, don't even think you'll get rid of that easily" - replied Maria as she looked at her boyfriend - "We live together, or we die together!"
Jeff was touched by his partner's loving gesture, but still showed a cold expression on his face - "I'm not kidding, Maria."
"Neither am I!" - Maria exclaid angrily.
"This is not a movie, Sofia!" - Lindow exclaid as he grabbed his girlfriend by the shoulders and looked her straight in the eyes - "Love won't solve this shitty situation!"
"That's why I have to stand by your side and help you in any way I can!" - Sophia exclaid in terror, after all, she didn't want to lose this little happiness she had achieved.
"Don't you understand!" - Lindow exclaid as she gritted her teeth in fury - "I don't want anything bad to happen to you, that's why I'm asking you to run!"
Sofia tried to say sothing else, but she was speechless as she felt Lindow kissing her.
"I'm asking you, Maria" - Jeff said as he looked at his lover - "I don't want to see you die, I couldn't stand it!"
Maria was silent before biting her lip and nodding - "You know Jeff? There was sothing I wanted to tell you"
"Please don't co out with the cliché of telling you're pregnant" - Jeff said, only to widen his eyes in surprise as he watched Maria nod weakly - "Why didn't you tell before!"
"Because I knew you would react this way!" - Maria exclaid with red eyes - "I knew you would force to stay on the premises while you were in danger, you idiot!"
"It's obvious I would, you're pregnant, you idiot!" - Jeff exclaid as he hugged his lover with all his might.
Mirio just stood silently as he watched the lodrama, though deep inside he felt lonely, after all, it was quite possible that this was his last mission - "Maybe she'll cry over my death?"
Mirio quickly shook his head, after all, she was just a friend with benefits he had gotten, though at the sa ti, he was hopeful that at least soone would cry for his fateful departure from this world.
