Now reading: Chapter 297 Reclaiming the base from SSS Awakening: I Can Class Change at will, a Game novel by Risaliyah.

When the distance to the base shrunk to approximately one kiloter, Moon's eyes took in a scene of pure carnage spread across the battlefield.

Beasts of various sizes could be seen actively clawing and tearing through the corpses of awakeners who had attempted to defend the facility. Blood soaked the ground in dark patches, and the battlefield reeked of death and iron scent of blood mixed with the musk of the creatures that now claid this territory.

But Moon wasn't surprised by the viciousness of either the beasts or the outcasts who had led them there. Such was the nature of war. This was a common sight throughout the First Sanctuary, where raw power reigned supre and weakness was not just deaned but fatally punished.

Moon's gaze then shifted to assess the living threats—various awakeners positioned at strategic points across the battlefield, clearly waiting for his anticipated arrival.

The mont one of the posted sentries spotted Moon's approach, he released a piercing war cry that echoed across the entire area, imdiately drawing the attention of every hostile force present.

Beast heads lifted from their grisly feeding, eyes focusing on the new target. Outcasts erged from base gates, watching.

Moon could count at least a dozen human opponents spread across the terrain. His eyes continued to scan the various figures, until it eventually landed on a large beast that dwarfed everything else in aura.

The enemy had clearly prepared for siege warfare rather than a quick raid—they'd fortified the captured base and established overlapping fields of fire that would challenge even experienced teams.

Moon's smile widened as he assessed the threat.

"Perfect," he murmured, preparing to dismount. "Ti to collect everything they're offering."

Moon gave the Direhorse a quick reassuring pat before gesturing for it to retreat from the imdiate combat zone. The creature didn't need additional encouragent—it imdiately moved away from the battlefield and sought cover several hundred ters away.

Simply observing the carnage spread across the area had made the Direhorse's legs tremble with fear, and its earlier arrow wound had clearly traumatized it regarding the possibility of death. Unlike Mirage, Moon didn't expect any real loyalty from this mount. He could tell at a glance that the creature would abandon him without hesitation if its own survival was threatened.

ROARRRR!!

The beast Moon had identified as S-rank released a thunderous roar that echoed across every corner of the battlefield, like a commander issuing commands.

Hearing their leader's war cry, the various lesser beasts responded with their own savage calls before charging toward Moon in in waves.

"Interesting choice," Moon observed, his S-rank Staff of Fire and Water materializing in his grip. "It ordered the weaker beasts to attack first. This beast isn't confrontational, it wants to gauge my strength before making contact."

The S-rank beast was using its minions as both weapons and information-gathering tools.

Moon raised his staff as the first wave of A-rank beasts closed the distance, their claws and fangs dripping in blood from their earlier victims. Behind them, awakener outcasts were positioning themselves for the second line of attack.

Water began swirling rapidly in his left hand while fire coalesced above his staff. Moon released both elents simultaneously at the charging horde.

The combined attack struck the leading beasts with the desired effect. The lesser beasts ranging from E to B-Rank died instantly from the basic [Elental Attack], while the survivors found themselves caught in exactly the environntal condition Moon had intended to create.

Massive clouds of thick mist erupted across the battlefield as mist spread outward from every point where fire and water had collided. The reaction between fire and water created an impenetrable fog that reduced visibility to re ters in every direction.

Among the outcast formations, several wind mages imdiately attempted to clear the obscuring mist on direct orders from their commanders.

"Clear the field! Use your wind magic! Hurry up!" voices shouted, their eyes narrowing for better view, but ultimately failed due to the fog's thickness.

Wind was summoned and used, but the efforts proved futile. As fast as the mages dispersed sections of fog, Moon continued generating more through his never-ending spells. The mist wasn't static—it was being continuously replenished faster than they could eliminate it.

Soon enough, the entire battlefield was completely shrouded in dense white vapor.

"I can't see anything!" one outcast scread in terror.

"Form up! Get into defensive formation!" team captains shouted frantically, trying to maintain their units. "Stay close together!"

But grouping together proved to be their fatal mistake.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Fireballs began erupting throughout the fog without rcy. Moon, began using sound to track enemy positions, and launched attacks into every cluster of voices he detected.

Screams of agony began to sound through the vapor as awakeners were consud by flas they couldn't see coming. Bodies collapsed into burning heaps, their cries suddenly cutting off as their souls left their bodies.

ROAR!

Even the beasts found themselves helpless in the mist. Those that relied on sight beca nothing but blind sheep waiting for slaughter, and those that relied on scent beca disoriented prey as the sll of burning flesh overwheld their nostrils.

The beasts wandered blindly until blue lightning flashed in their eyes. The next mont, they dropped dead to the ground.

The battlefield had beco a slaughterhouse where Moon moved like a phantom of death, striking his targets while remaining completely invisible to his enemies until the very mont he attacked.

Whenever Moon's body was sighted within the fog, bodies dropped dead.

At the captured base's main gate, a figure stood with arms crossed, his expression becoming increasingly grim as the sounds of his subordinates being massacred reached his ears. His brows furrowed deeply as he realized the extent of the carnage occurring in the fog within re seconds.

"EVERYONE! RETURN TO THE BASE IMDIATELY!" he commanded, his voice echoing across the entire region.

Sadly for many of his forces, the retreat order ca too late. Their bodies littering the mist-covered ground.
