The Sun rose gracefully from behind the dark ocean, glaring down at the world and bleeding light across all that was to see.
Sora did not rember when she had fallen asleep, it ca as a surprise to her that she could sleep that peacefully in such fucked up surroundings.
She silently lifted the cap off of her face and let the blinding, slightly warm and soothing sun rays to touch her flawless skin and sighed. Even if she had slept, it didn’t make her feel less exhausted.
With a lazy movent, the lady threw a glance at the others, but before she saw them, she had to witness the dreadful image of the hundreds of beasts surrounding them, looking at them lustfully with crooked smile that she could have bet was there, but it wasn’t.
Then her eyes swept away and found the first log empty, it was where Volter had laid last night, she rembered. He was there no more, had he woken up and left before even dawn broke?
He was sure a hardworking guy and kind of mysterious and terrifying too.
Not too far she found Ryan still asleep with his glasses still jamd over his eyes, that sure made her feel a bit uncomfortable, how could he sleep like that and as heartily as he was just now.
Next was the large guy, full of muscles adorned with his dark skin. He was well awake and was looking at the window that opened above his ring, studying his class state.
He suddenly looked up and t her gaze, he smiled and waved. "Hey, you awake, uh Sora. I guess." he said after an awkward pause.
Sora mimicked the smile and nodded. "Yeah, seems like you woke up earlier."
"Ah! yes. Its a habit, can’t sleep much, not after I beca an Exterminator anyways."
She giggled at that silently and found her grand uncle stretching nearby, but no matter how much she looked around she could not see any clue of Hide Volter.
’Did he actually go into the wilderness alone?’ She thought with a shudder. That... would be more dangerous that jumping off a fifty story building, but then again, she rembered that he was no normal Exterminator.
From what she had heard and saw of her own violation, there was sothing off with the guy, his physical prowess and magical prowess were completely off the charts even for soone with a Unique Class.
And the summon he showed them yesterday, it was sothing never heard of. How could soone have summons so dark, ghostly and terrifying. Apart from that, where the shikigami’s of most tars looked like normal animals, albeit a little ferocious sotis, the one Hide showed looked like one of those darned calamity beasts.
Their earlier chat had it seed woke up the little scrawny boy from his sleep. He sat up and blinked a couple of tis, he nodded and smiled at both of his teammates and silently went to wash his face in the ocean.
Sora noticed that the guy didn’t remove his glasses even then, that told her sothing about them, that she didn’t know how to na.
Not paying it that much attention, she too stood up and washed her face in the cold ocean water. Her gran uncle suddenly rushed and jumped into the ocean, behind him Gideon followed.
However they didn’t stay long in the water, Gideon had realized soon enough that the water was not the safe place to be with it being infested with weird kinds of fish beasts.
He only had the pleasure to see those after Maddox ca out of the waters ahead of him.
Nonetheless, they had not prepared anything to eat in the morning, the al from the last night was enough to keep them filled.
"We need to defeat the Higher Calamity Lord today and kill all the beasts by tomorrow, there is a match in the stadium in 2 days. Understood?" Jas Maddox announced to them.
"What about Hide? where is he, I have not seen him since I woke up." Ryan was a beat quick to speak up, stealing words right out of Sora’s mouth.
It didn’t matter who said it, the question had been asked and now she wished to see the reaction. Her grand uncle had been trying to not pay this thing much attention.
"He left ahead of you all," Maddox said calmly. "he went to the western side... anyone of you who want can go."
It ca as a shock to her, how calmly and almost indifferently he talked that one of his students went into a beast infested wilderness alone when there was be a B- Rank Calamity beast here. Was he that certain in Volter’s abilities?
She wanted to check for herself and so she raised her hand. "I will go to the West side." She declared.
No one else said anything. "So I take it that no one wants o co with ?"
"Wait, you serious? You gonna go find him on your own?" Gideon finally asked. "It is kinda dangerous, I an he is strong enough to defeat an A-Rank exterminator, he will be fine."
Sora looked at her Grand uncle once, who stood there like a statue without saying anything and then turned to Gideon.
"So what?" She said. "An A-Rank alone can’t take a Higher Calamity Lord. Believing in your teammates is one thing, but leaving them in such place is other."
The large guy had no words to fight back. He simply closed his mouth and looked at the ground for a while.
Sora didn’t stand of ceremony, she turned and sprinted to the west side and summoned her daggers. She was going to head first into the swarm of beasts, but Hide must have gone through them first so there won’t be many.
Gritting her teeth, she used her talent and forced her speed to increase twice or even thrice the speed of normal humans.
When she was just a few steps away from the trees, suddenly the ground just to her left bulged and a ghastly looking beast jumped out from the sand.
She was running straight into its trajectory and had no way to avoid hitting the large needle like thing protruding out of its head.
BAM! CRACK!
Gideon’s shoulder appeared between the needle and her... the needle hit it and the impact sent cracks in it.
"I am with you." The larger man said.
WOOOOSH!
Just then a strong wind, that could only be a result of a strong after impact sent large amounts of sand and leaves flying from deep within the western side of the jungle.
