After soti Damon woke up fully refreshed. He checked the ti and it had only been 5 hours. "I guess my body needs lesser ti to recover now." He stretched a bit and washed his face and just like that he was good to do.
His body did not feel stiff or tensed. Perhaps because he was no longer using a gaming capsule, everything was different. It felt better.
Damon wanted to imdiately jump into the ga but there were so things he needed to take care of. He opened the door wondering which way he should go when unexpectedly his girl next door was once again standing right in front of his door.
"You could have knocked."
Sylvara gave a little smile. "I am sorry."
"Huh?" Damon’s jaw almost dropped on the ground.
"I am sorry for being an asshole to you and for misunderstanding you and for not supporting you." She blurted out one after the other.
Damon still looked confused. What the hell had gotten into her today.
"I saw how many orcs you cleared for us," she said, twisting a strand of her blonde hair around her finger. "I an not for us I guess. For yourself probably. But thank you anyways. Without you we wouldn’t have survived. Ever since we started this mission, you have basically carried our entire team and we have been anything but grateful."
Damon blinked, montarily thrown by her honesty. "Uh... are you feeling okay?" he asked, half-joking but half-serious.
Sylvara’s smile widened slightly, wry but genuine. "Yeah. Maybe for the first ti in a long ti." She took a deep breath, as if steadying herself. "I just wanted you to know that I appreciate it and that I’m sorry for doubting you. We’re all tangled up in sothing bigger than any of us. And... I’d like to stand beside you in it, not against you."
Damon tilted his head, studying her. "Alright," he said finally, a slow grin spreading across his face. "Apology accepted. I’m not the type to hold grudges. So let’s leave the past in the past." He reached out, ruffling her hair lightly before she could dodge away. "Now can you go back to being the Ice Queen that we all are scared of?"
Sylvara’s cheeks flushed a soft pink as she gaped in shock. She did not expect to be touched this way as if she was a little child. She quickly swatted the hand away. "What are you doing?!"
Damon laughed. "There you go. You are back already."
Sylvara let out a helpless sigh. "Why are you like this?"
Damon shrugged. He then started walking towards the next room. "Okay. I have to go now and show my face to my mom. Otherwise, she wouldn’t let hear the end of it. See you later?"
Sylvara imdiately called after him. "Hey! Wait. I actually ca to talk to you about that. The patriarch has prepared the skill crystals for your family and friends. There are totally 10 in here, three more than you asked for." She handed over a bag to Damon.
"Wow. That’s generous of him." Damon quickly accepted it. He was not going to say no for a little sothing extra. But of course, there was always a tag attached to any freebie. "What do you want in return?"
Sylvara hesitated and then awkwardly answered. "The items that you have listed on auction house. Could you please cancel them? I would like to buy the whole lot directly." She shifted uncomfortably, twisting her hair around her finger again. "It’s a lot of gold, but the patriarch thinks they’re critical to our current plans. We’ll pay the current highest bid price plus a ten percent premium. We will also cover your cancellation fees for the auction house."
Damon’s grin turned sly. "Oh? Trying to secure the goods before the competition gets their hands on them? Smart move, Ice Queen." He leaned back against the doorfra, his crimson eyes glinting with amusent. "You know I could just let them stay there and watch the bidding war start. It would probably sell for more. Why should I let go of my profits?"
Sylvara’s lips twitched with exasperation. "Please don’t. We’d rather avoid unnecessary complications, especially now."
Damon remained silent for a mont and then shrugged casually. "Alright. Fine. I’ll pull the listings," he said, tapping the bag lightly. "But only because I’m in a good mood today. And you actually apologized, which is a first."
Sylvara let out a sigh of relief, visibly relaxing. "Thank you," she murmured. "I appreciate it."
Damon pushed himself off the doorfra and headed toward his mother’s room, still chuckling. "You owe one for this."
"Yes, of course." Sylvara watched him go, her expression a mix of relief and frustration. "Idiot," she muttered under her breath, but a small smile tugged at her lips anyway.
As she walked away, Nevin ca in front of her and the guy looked surprised. "What’s got you in a good mood?" With everything happening around them, he knew Sylvara should be pretty upset and that was why he had co looking for her to talk to her. But it looked like he was worried for no reason.
Sylvara smiled and shook her head. "It’s nothing. I just figured out how to talk to one troubleso person."
"Huh? Blood God?"
"Yes." Sylvara nodded.
Nevin’s face imdiately changed. "Did you guys fight again? What did you do now?"
"Pfft." Sylvara laughed. "Don’t worry. I don’t think we will ever fight again. Its so easy. I am just going to treat him like a child from now on. More precisely a two or three year old. That’s all it takes to get along with him."
Nevin’s jaw dropped. "A two or three year old? Really?" He let out a disbelieving laugh. "You’re calling the Blood God a toddler now?"
Sylvara winked at him. "Try it and you will know what I an."
anwhile, Damon who could still hear the chatter between these two... spat out the water in his mouth. A toddler? Seriously? he thought, wiping his chin dry. He shook his head and continued walking.
He could already hear his parents talking loudly. He knocked on the door and his mom imdiately opened the door. She didn’t even let him get a word in. His mom’s eyes widened, a bright smile lighting up her face.
"Damon!" she exclaid, pulling him into a fierce hug. "I was starting to think you’d forgotten about us entirely with all your fancy ga talk and guild stuff!"
Damon let out a choked laugh as he awkwardly patted her back. "Mom, I’ve been busy, but I’d never forget about you."
His dad appeared behind her, grumbling under his breath but unable to hide the proud glint in his eyes. "So this is the legendary Blood God, huh?" he teased, ruffling Damon’s hair like he was still a little boy. "Artimius sat down and had dinner with us last night. He told us a lot about your achievents in the ga. Good work. Keep it up and don’t slack."
"Thanks, Dad," Damon mumbled. He was already used to hearing similar words from his dad and it looks like it hadn’t changed much after all this. "Anyways. I have sothing for you both." He handed a skill crystal to his mom and one to his dad.
