Mark’s body was already reacting, faint veins of silver energy crawling over his skin, while Sylvara’s icy aura ford delicate frost spirals that evaporated just as quickly as they appeared.
Aurora, however, was sothing else entirely. The mont she consud the stone and began channeling the core’s energy, her presence erupted like a silent explosion. A do of light flared around her, tinged with gold and violet hues.
Damon instinctively took a step back. Holy shit... he thought. If he had ever doubted her class or background, this completely erased it. Whatever priestess class she belonged to or whatever her bloodline was, it wasn’t sothing basic.
Kate ca to stand beside him, arms still folded, her eyes fixed ahead, but her tone calm. "Who is that woman? Do you know her beforehand?" She asked softly.
Damon imdiately shook his head. "No. No. Never. She is just a really good player. And has so sort of special bloodline. I really do not know anything else about her."
"Ok." Kate nodded. Surprisingly, she did not ask him anything more than that about Aurora. Instead, she spoke about what was really on her mind.
"Hey, I think I should evolve too. Sylvara might have a low-grade evolution stone that I can borrow." She started, but once again, Damon imdiately interrupted her. "No need. If things really co down to that, then you can do it later. You don’t have to burn your potential right now."
Kate looked at how serious he was and decided to let it go for now. "Can you tell a little bit about blood manipulation? How do you do it so easily? Is there any special trick to it? What about blood energy and mana? How do you seemlessly interconnect and use both?"
Others might not see it this way, but Kate knew that Damon was extrely knowledgeable about many things. Sure, he was overpowered because of so bloodline or sothing like that, but it was his fundantals that really set him apart.
She was probably never going to get a chance like this again when he was standing so casually next to her. She could feel it. The gap between them was widening more and more. Her insufficiencies were starting to show up. At least Mark had so sort of bloodline, but she had nothing.
She did have a little sothing. She had recently found that she had an innate ice affinity as well and was able to use both blood elent and ice elent, but seeing everyone around her, that was probably nothing.
Her gaze landed on Aurora who was now lighting up like a damn firecracker. She could already tell that the priestess was the one who was going to shoot up in power the most. Perhaps even more so than Mark, who was also now glowing golden.
Unlike them, she had nothing. She was plain and simple. She would use every chance she had to crawl her way to the top to stand next to the guy who had been there for them ti and again. If Damon were in her shoes, he would definitely do the sa thing.
Kate snapped out of her thoughts as she talked to Damon about many things that were on her mind. Damon did not care about it too much. It was Kate, after all. He taught her everything he knew about the basics of blood manipulation. But in the end, his insights were only going to help her so much.
"You should really visit the training center. In fact, talk to Varnyx about it. He might suggest sothing nice for you, considering you are special and all that." Damon winked.
"What sort of a training center?" Kate ignored the guy’s teasing and asked.
"I don’t know. Maybe so sort of skills training place. I have heard rumors of such a place existing, but if you ask Varnyx about it, that guy would definitely give you more details." Kate nodded and decided to do that the first thing after they get out of here.
anwhile, Mark was now enclosed in a blood bubble with golden veins, Aurora in so sort of golden bubble, and Sylvara in a simple mana bubble. All of their evolution process had progressed smoothly and was now coming to an end.
Damon was very surprised that the guy controlling the tallic fortress didn’t even bother to disturb them. Was he mocking them that no matter what they do it’s useless? Or maybe he was busy with sothing else like moving the whole damn thing to so place else before back up arrived?
Whatever it was, Damon did not care. He would take the easy wins.
Soon, another hour passed by, and Sylvara was the first one to finish evolving.
Ice hissed and lted from her skin, and she looked even more beautiful than before. Her skin had beco rosier and clearer. Her long blonde hair now had streaks of silver, and her blue eyes had beco a shade darker.
She stepped out of the mana cocoon that had now solidified into ice and walked towards Damon and Kate like an ethereal fairy.
"Damon, what do you think?" She unexpectedly stopped before him and asked.
"I... I... beautiful?" Damon stamred, awkward and embarrassed.
Kate shot him a sideways glance.
Sylvara smiled. "I ant my bloodline. Do you think my bloodline has beco purer at all? Unfortunately, I did not manage to awaken anything with a low-grade evolution stone. So I was wondering, perhaps you can tell if my bloodline at least improved a little?"
"I.. What..." Damon again stuttered.
"Wouldn’t you know if you taste my blood again?"
Fuck! Sweat started pouring out of Damon’s head like it was raining as he awkwardly stood there between the two won.
"What do you an? When did you drink her blood?" Kate wasn’t an idiot. She naturally caught on. Her fiery gaze returned, now burning a thousand degrees hotter.
"Ha ha. What are you talking about? When did I drink your blood? Oh, you must be asking in general." He tried to salvage the situation again.
Why was he stepping into so much shit today. He needed to do sothing about this. Maybe never get in a situation where all these won were together again! Even if it were life or death, this should not happen again. He gulped and continued in an extrely professional tone.
"If you give a few drops of your blood, I can try and analyze sothing. But I cannot guarantee."
Sylvara could see what was happening and wanted to laugh, but she controlled herself. "I am sorry to ask you this, I am just worried that I screwed up big ti with this evolution."
Many things about Damon beca clearer to her when he recklessly ca back to this place again to get all of them out. If he wanted, he could have abandoned all of them and gotten out safely by now, but he did not.
Heck, if she were in his position, she was not even sure if she would have co back at all. Just this one thing told a lot about the kind of man he was. She was no longer angry or annoyed with him. She genuinely considered him a friend now.
"How do you do this? Do you have to drink directly from ? Bite ?" She took a step forward, revealing her tender neck.
