Several tis, the poisonous liquid tried to gurgle, hiss, and claim him, but the barrier stopped it every single ti.
There was also a ti when the rocks crumbled right underneath Damon’s feet, but Kaelthorn was right there, creating a phantom stone for him from his blood magic. It was very crude, but it was effective.
Finally, Damon reached the halfway point.
On the other side, Kaelthorn landed on the central platform, once again without a single injury on his body and with the sa smug smile on his face. "I am safe and sound here, little lord. Co and join fast." He laughed.
Damon’s frown only deepened as he took the next step. And suddenly, everything changed.
The liquid around him started sloshing wildly as if sensing sothing it didn’t like. Tendrils of venom lashed higher, no longer sluggish or curious, but hostile and agitated.
The path beneath Damon trembled, veins of green light pulsing along its cracks. The barrier surrounding him wavered again, this ti violently, the edges sizzling where they brushed against the poison mist.
Kaelthorn’s laughter rang louder, no longer restrained. "I am sorry, little lord. I think it’s so kind of barrier from the shrine. I am no longer able to cast my barrier. Oops." He particularly enunciated the last word as he continued to laugh wildly. "This ti, little lord. Even if you beg , there is nothing I can do for you!"
In the blink of an eye, the barrier completely disappeared, and the rocks crumbled as well, leaving behind nothing for Damon to even get a grasp on. He tried to reach for the rocks in the front, but the poisonous lava claid that as well.
There was nowhere for him to go except down. Kaelthorn eagerly watched the scene he had been waiting for so long as he licked his lips viciously.
"You should have known better, little lord. Haven’t you heard? I am a traitorous snake. Why would you trust a traitorous snake like and cross a damn poison lake?" He laughed loudly, seeing the poisonous liquid splash around and roil wildly.
There was simply no way for Damon to survive sothing like this. The sweet, sweet mont he was waiting for was finally-
However, the next instant, his face froze. "No, impossible." He gritted his teeth and muttered in disbelief. After everything crumbled and fell, a blood barrier shone brightly amidst the poison splashes.
Inside it, Damon floated mid-air, and right next to him, in another barrier, appeared a familiar figure. "You traitorous bastard. How dare you plot against the lord of the blood hall!" Ellora’s voice rang in fury as she sent a blood beam hurtling at Kalethorn.
Kaelthorn’s eyes widened in shock.
"What? Did you not expect to see here?" Ellora shouted with her killing intent raging wildly.
"The lord has always known who you were, you filthy trash. Under his command, I was following you all along, waiting for you to finally show your true colors. You sealed your fate when you decided to go against the oath you took!" She sent a dozen powerful slices of blood beam towards the spot where Kaelthorn was standing.
Kaelthorn might be powerful, a peak C-rank expert, but Ellora was also a C-rank expert with many tricks up her sleeve. Perhaps in a one-on-one fight, Kaelthorn might even be slightly stronger than Ellora. However, things changed when there was Damon and Elina were by her side.
Kaelthorn cursed and flicked his blade up, barely deflecting the first blood beam. The second tore a chunk out of his shoulder, blood splattering across the temple floor, but he managed to dodge the remaining.
Both Damon’s and Ellora’s gaze was locked onto the vampire as he lifted his head back up. Surprisingly, he once again started laughing like a maniac. "You planned all this. Little lord, I have really underestimated you!" He laughed even louder. "I can’t believe you planned every single thing so perfectly!"
His laughter filled the cave, and yet there was no panic or desperation in it. Sothing felt off.
Ellora strengthened the barrier around Damon, urging him. "My lord, let’s first get to the shrine." Even though fighting Kaelthorn in close quarters was going to be troubleso, her intuition told her that it was the best thing to do right now.
However, Damon shook his head. "It’s already too late. It’s here."
Kaelthorn’s laughter beca even more maniacal. "Once again, you are one step ahead, little lord! I cannot believe it! How can a rotten, dumb bloodling like you possess such a wonderful brain? I might have to eat your brain after you die just to see how you beca so smart!"
"What the hell are you talking about?" Ellora was about to unleash another attack when the poisonous liquid around them started churning wildly. From within, a pair of serated legs popped up, followed by another and then another.
From the venomous depths, a grotesque form began to rise.
Dozens of serrated limbs erged first, long, jagged, and segnted like an insect’s, but dripping with a sli that hissed on contact with the air.
The poison lake boiled, bubbling with green foam as more of the creature’s monstrous form slithered out, revealing a bloated, armor-plated torso fused with pulsating sacs that glowed with putrid light. Its many eyes blinked out of sync, all trained directly on Damon.
A low, gurgling screech echoed through the cavern, reverberating in their bones.
The next second, the creature clicked its mandibles, and a familiar voice rang out.
"You damned little insect, why do you have to be so resilient? You had to show up in my dungeon with two C-rank experts? When I t you, weren’t you just a fucking beggar salivating after my potions? How the hell did you beco a lord? You even dared to destroy my vessel! What gal you have?!"
"It doesn’t matter. I will heal your glorious vessel to the way it was supposed to be. Now kneel and submit to the great Ouroboros!"
