Now reading: Chapter 38 — Kneel, Dragon Slayer from SSS-Rank Brides: The Hunter Who Married Dungeon Queens, a Fantasy novel by Didas312.

The Dominion held its breath.

Frost and fla spiraled violently around the kneeling man.

The Dragon Slayer’s body trembled—not from fear, but from resistance. His Title flared against Ethan’s palm like a burning brand.

[Subjugation Attempt: In Progress...]

[Success Probability: 42%]

[Dragon Slayer Title Resisting...]

Ethan felt it clearly now.

Titles weren’t just buffs.

They were identities.

Narratives.

The world itself reinforcing a role.

Dragon Slayer.

It rejected subservience to dragons.

And Ethan—

Half sovereign, half anomaly—

Was sothing it could not categorize.

The hunter’s eyes burned bright gold as the Title surged.

"You think," he rasped through bloodied teeth, "that you can rewrite what I am?"

Frostfire intensified around Ethan’s hand.

"I don’t need to rewrite it."

His voice was calm.

"I just need to outrank it."

The Dominion responded instantly.

Ice pillars erupted higher.

Fla veins glowed brighter beneath the shattered stone floor.

Lysarra stepped closer, wings spread wide behind Ethan, her presence reinforcing his sovereignty.

Kaelith’s dark flas coiled upward like a living crown.

Two dragon queens.

One sovereign.

The air bent.

The System flickered wildly.

[Territorial Advantage Applied]

[Dual Bride Synchronization Active]

[Success Probability Rising... 57%... 63%...]

The Dragon Slayer roared.

Mana exploded outward from his body in a desperate surge.

The ice chains binding his legs shattered.

Kaelith slid back a step, claws scraping sparks against stone.

Lysarra’s frost cracked along one wing.

But Ethan did not move.

He stepped forward instead.

Palm pressing harder against the man’s head.

"You entered my throne room," Ethan said quietly. "You challenged my queens."

Frostfire flared silver-red.

"You fight well."

The hunter’s breath hitched.

"And that is exactly why you will kneel."

The Dominion roared.

The pressure beca physical—crushing, suffocating.

The Dragon Slayer’s Title flared one final ti.

Then—

It flickered.

Cracked.

[Title Integrity Compromised]

The hunter’s body slamd into the floor as gravity seed to triple.

His sword slipped from his grip.

Mana scattered.

The gold light in his eyes dimd.

Ethan leaned down slightly.

"Kneel."

The word wasn’t shouted.

It wasn’t infused with rage.

It was spoken like a fact.

The System pulsed—

[Subjugation Successful.]

Silence fell.

The Dragon Slayer remained on both knees.

Breathing hard.

But no longer resisting.

His head lowered.

"...Sovereign," he said hoarsely.

Lysarra exhaled slowly.

Kaelith’s flas settled, though her gaze remained sharp and assessing.

Ethan stepped back.

The frostfire receded from his body like a tide withdrawing.

[New Subordinate Acquired]

[Dragon Slayer — S-Rank Human]

[Specialization: Anti-Dragon Combat]

[Status: Bound by Sovereign Authority]

Ethan rolled his shoulders once, feeling the strain ripple through his muscles.

Subjugating a being with a reinforced narrative had not been simple.

His chest still burned where the blade had cut him.

Lysarra approached imdiately, frost gathering gently around her fingers as she pressed her palm to his wound.

Cold.

Soothing.

The injury sealed gradually.

Kaelith stepped to the kneeling hunter and lifted his chin with one clawed finger.

"You attempted to kill us," she said flatly.

His jaw tightened.

"Yes."

"And now?"

His gaze flicked briefly toward Ethan.

"Now I serve."

Kaelith studied him for a long mont.

Then released him.

"You live because he wills it."

The Dragon Slayer bowed his head again.

Ethan turned toward the shattered ceiling where snow drifted in slowly.

"You have a na," Ethan said without looking back.

A pause.

"...Ronan."

"Ronan," Ethan repeated.

He faced him fully now.

"Who sent you?"

Ronan hesitated.

The Sovereign Authority pulsed subtly in his chest.

Compulsion.

Not forced obedience—but alignnt.

"The Western Human Coalition," Ronan answered finally. "Three kingdoms. One objective."

"Say it."

"To confirm whether the Frost Queen was truly reborn."

Silence.

"And if she was?" Lysarra asked coldly.

Ronan did not look at her.

"Eliminate."

Kaelith’s flas flared slightly.

Ethan’s expression didn’t change.

"They’re afraid."

"Yes."

"Of her?"

Ronan’s gaze lifted slowly to et Ethan’s.

"No."

A beat.

"Of you."

The Dominion grew very still.

Ethan absorbed that quietly.

Not surprised.

But hearing it confird shifted sothing.

"You’re destabilizing balance," Ronan continued. "A sovereign who commands dragons. It rewrites the power structure."

Kaelith smirked faintly.

"As it should."

Lysarra’s eyes glead.

Ethan walked slowly to the center of the hall.

"So they send their best."

Ronan nodded once.

"Yes."

"And?"

Ronan glanced at the cracked blade on the floor.

"I failed."

Ethan looked down at the weapon.

"Pick it up."

Ronan obeyed.

The blade trembled faintly in his grip.

"Do you still carry the Dragon Slayer title?" Ethan asked.

Ronan closed his eyes briefly.

"...It remains. But diminished."

The System confird.

[Title: Dragon Slayer — Altered State]

[Effect Reduced to 12% Against Dragon Entities]

[Title Narrative Weakened]

Ethan smiled faintly.

"Good."

He turned back toward the throne platform.

"From today onward, you are no longer Dragon Slayer."

Ronan’s brow furrowed slightly.

"You are my sword."

The Dominion pulsed.

[Subordinate Title Assigned: Sovereign Blade]

Ronan stiffened.

Mana realigned around him.

The air shifted subtly.

Lysarra’s eyes widened almost imperceptibly.

Kaelith let out a low whistle.

"You’re replacing his narrative," she murmured.

Ethan sat slowly upon the throne.

"Titles bind people to stories."

His gaze locked onto Ronan.

"I decide which story you serve now."

The System flared brightly.

[Sovereign Authority Level Increased]

[Human Faction Hostility: Rising]

[Dragon Court Awareness: Escalating]

Snow continued drifting down through the broken ceiling.

Far beyond the Dominion—

In distant kingdoms—

Divination circles shattered simultaneously.

Mana arrays sparked and failed.

Elder dragons stirred in their mountain courts.

Sothing had changed.

Not just a battle won.

Not just a hunter defeated.

A narrative had been overturned.

Back in the hall—

Ronan rose fully to his feet.

He knelt once more.

Not from force.

From alignnt.

"My blade is yours, Sovereign."

Ethan leaned back into the throne.

Lysarra stood to his left.

Kaelith to his right.

An S-Rank human knelt before him.

The Dominion thrumd with quiet, growing power.

But the System did not remain silent.

[Warning.]

[Major Political Shift Detected.]

[Ergency Transmission Incoming...]

A ripple tore through the air in front of the throne.

A projection ford.

Ancient.

Massive.

Golden eyes filled the hall.

Not a full body—

Just a presence.

Vast.

Overwhelming.

A dragon older than kingdoms.

Its voice vibrated through stone and bone alike.

"Human Sovereign."

Lysarra’s frost hardened instantly.

Kaelith’s flas sharpened.

Ronan instinctively lowered his head.

Ethan did not.

He t the projection’s gaze evenly.

"Yes?"

The ancient dragon’s eyes narrowed slightly.

"You have claid a Dragon Slayer."

A pause.

"You have rewritten a title."

The Dominion trembled faintly under the weight of that voice.

"You will attend the Council."

Not a request.

A declaration.

"Or we will decide your fate without you."

The projection flickered—

Then vanished.

Silence fell once more.

Kaelith exhaled slowly.

"Well," she muttered.

Lysarra’s voice was calm—but heavy.

"The Dragon Council does not summon lightly."

Ethan leaned back into the throne.

Frostfire flickered softly around his fingers.

"They think they’re judging ."

His eyes glead.

"Good."

Ronan remained kneeling.

The Dominion humd.

The world had noticed.

And the throne—

Was no longer forming quietly.
