When the light returned, Clentine was no longer in the damp, quiet ruins of the border kingdoms.

The blinding glare of a thousand artificial suns hit her eyes all at once. The air was thick, suffocating, and vibrating with the roar of an ocean of voices.

She gasped for breath, her head whipping around as she realized where she was.

She was suspended fifty feet in the air, chained to a massive pillar of obsidian thorns right in the center of the Grand Plaza of the Imperial City.

Below her, stretching out to the very horizon where the dark spires of the Dragon Empire t the violet ether-shield, was a sea of people.

Millions of citizens, forr nobles, liberated slaves, and soldiers stood shoulder to shoulder.

The crowds were so dense that the grand marble plaza looked like a living breathing cradle of humanity.

Above them, massive translucent blue screens floated in the sky, broadcasting every single detail of Clentine’s cowering, mud-caked form to the entire continent.

On the grand balcony of the imperial palace, overlooking the plaza, Adonis sat upon his obsidian throne. He leaned back, his cheek resting against his knuckle, his violet eyes looking down at the spectacle with the clinical detachnt of an editor reviewing a rough draft.

Mariana stood at his right hand, her pink hair shimring under the imperial light, while Millia stood at his left, her dark robes rging seamlessly with the shadows of the throne itself.

Sapphira and other wives were there too.

Adonis did not say a word. He rely tapped his index finger against the armrest of his throne.

Down in the plaza, the first wave of the Shadow Directive moved. A dozen massive shadow hounds, their bodies ford from jagged black glass and violet fire, materialized at the base of the thorned pillar. They didn’t growl. They didn’t bark. They simply climbed the obsidian structure with agonizing slowness, their claws clicking against the stone.

"No! Please! Adonis! Look at !" Clentine shrieked,! I am the Duchess of Kingsbane! You cannot do this to in front of these commoners! Have rcy!"

The crowd did not cheer. The silence that fell over the millions of onlookers was far more terrifying than any roar of anger. It was the silence of absolute submission to a system that could not be bargained with.

Among the crowd, a disgraced elder noble from the old Western faction watched the screens, his hands shaking as he clutched his threadbare cloak.

"Look at her. She spent twenty years plotting, poisoning, and buying alliances. She thought she was the master of the court. And the Emperor handles her like a ant. He doesn’t even look angry. That is what terrifies the most. To the Dragon Emperor, we aren’t even enemies to be hated. We are just bad sentences he is crossing out with ink."

The rchant nodded slowly as the first shadow hound reached Clentine’s leg.

"The old gods used to demand worship, but they left us to starve. The Dragon Emperor demands order. If you follow the script, you eat, you live, you profit. If you try to write your own rules like she did, the system uninstalls you. I’ll take the Emperor’s law over the nobles’ chaos any day."

The first tear occurred. A shadow hound sank its crystalline teeth into Clentine’s thigh, ripping away a section of flesh and muscle down to the bone.

Clentine threw her head back, a horrific, sky-rending scream tearing from her throat.

But before the blood could even pool on the marble below, a bright green light flashed from the obsidian pillar.

[System Notification: High-Tier Regeneration Applied.]

[Marrow Reconstruction: 100% Complete.]

The flesh instantly knitted back together, the skin sealing over the wound within a fraction of a second, only for the second hound to bite down on the exact sa spot.

The cycle began. The scream started anew, cut off by the healing flash, and then repeated.

Again, and again, and again.

By the third day, the suns had not set. Adonis had locked the sky in a state of permanent twilight, forcing the city to witness every single second of the judgnt.

Clentine’s mind had already broken into a thousand jagged pieces, her voice reduced to a wet, raspy wheeze that never stopped.

Every ti her brain attempted to shut down from the sheer trauma, the system would flash a blue light, forcing her consciousness back to absolute, sharp clarity.

In the mid-tier viewing stands, Commander Silva stood beside old Harrison. The butler could barely look at the screens, his old eyes fixed on his boots, but Silva remained stoic, though a cold sweat lined his collar.

"Do you think the Emperor is being too cruel, Commander?" Oscar asked in a hushed, trembling whisper.

Silva didn’t take his eyes off the floating displays.

"Cruel? Oscar, she fed Duke Leonel Mind-Rot for fifteen years. She watched a proud warrior turn into a drooling husk while she laughed in his face. She hunted Adonis like an animal. What the Emperor is doing out there isn’t cruelty. It is balance. He is showing the world that every single action has cost. The nobility spent centuries thinking they could evade the bill. Adonis is just the accountant who finally showed up to collect."

"But seven days of this?" Oscar swallowed hard. "The entire city can hear her soul tearing apart."

"And the entire city will rember it for the next ten thousand years," Silva said coldly. "Look around you, Oscar. There are no thieves in the streets today. There are no corrupt lords trading favors in the back rooms. The Dragon Emperor didn’t just build an army; he built a reality where cri is mathematically impossible to justify. She is the warning label on the new world."

On the fourth day, the punishnt shifted. The shadow hounds stepped back, and the obsidian thorns of the pillar itself began to move. They elongated, sliding beneath Clentine’s skin like liquid needles, tracing the path of her nervous system.

"Please...Kill...!"

Up on the balcony, Mariana watched the screens, her fingers tightening around Adonis’s hand. She did not feel pity for the woman who had tried to have her murdered in the wilds, but the sheer scale of the execution was overwhelming.

"She is fading, Adonis. Her soul baseline is dropping into the negative values."

"She will fade when the seven days are complete, Mariana. Not a second before. She wanted to use the Dark Spider Art to lock my father in a nightmare. Now she gets to experience what it ans when the nightmare is global."

Millia stepped forward, "She always complained that the silver wasn’t polished perfectly, husband. She used to say that people of lower bloodlines didn’t feel pain the sa way the high nobility did. It seems the system has proven her philosophy incorrect."

"The system is a great equalizer," Adonis agreed.

Down in the lower sectors of the crowd, a group of young mages from the newly integrated Central academies were taking notes on the magical arrays holding the pillar together.

"Emperor is using the emotional devotion of his consorts to power a divine-tier judgnt array that doesn’t lose a single watt of efficiency over ninety-six hours. The old Archons needed a thousand sacrifices to do sothing this stable. The Emperor just needs his wives to love him."

"It’s beautiful," her companion replied, shivering slightly. "But it ans his power is completely recursive. The stronger his empire grows, the more loyal his people beco, and the more loyal they are, the more data authority he receives. There is no way to fight him. He is the engine and the source."

By the sixth day, the crowd had grown to nearly ten million as portals from the distant Western Continent were opened to allow the entire world to bear witness. The high-altitude drakes of the imperial vanguard circled the sky, their scales reflecting the violet glow of the canopy like a million tiny mirrors.

Clentine no longer looked human. Her form was entirely encased in the obsidian thorns, her existence reduced to a single, continuous frequency of agony that the system translated into a low, mournful hum that vibrated through the stones of the city.

On the seventh and final day, the countdown tir on Vexa’s display finally reached the final minute.

Adonis stood up from his throne. The mont his boots touched the stone of the balcony, the entire crowd of ten million people fell to their knees. The rustle of their cloaks and the sound of their knees hitting the marble ran through the city like a wave of thunder.

He walked to the edge of the railing, looking down at the broken, shivering entity that had once been the proud Duchess Clentine.

"Clentine, your destiny ends here."

The woman’s head lifted by a fraction of an inch, her eyes completely vacant, filled with nothing but the reflection of the violet sky.

She didn’t beg. She didn’t scream. She simply stared at him, waiting for the end.

"You spent your entire life trying to control the bloodlines of this world. You thought that by killing my mother and crippling my father, you could secure a legacy that would last forever. But a legacy written in sand cannot withstand the ruler who commands the stone."

He snapped his fingers.

[Deconstruction Protocol: Execute.]

The obsidian pillar did not shatter. Instead, it turned into a massive vortex of black and violet pixels that rapidly consud Clentine from the feet up.

There was no blood, no flesh, and no bone left behind. Every single cell of her physical form, her magical core, and her ancestral lineage was being erased.

The system screens flashed one final ti, displaying a massive, gold-bordered update notification that could be seen from every corner of the twin continents.

The ten million people in the plaza remained on their knees, their heads bowed toward the balcony where the Emperor stood.

A young warrior in the front row, who had once been a rebel fighting against the old lords of the Central landmass, looked up at Adonis with a expression that was entirely bordering on worship.

"He did it," the youth whispered to his companion. "The old corruption is completely gone. There is no one left to oppress us but the law itself."

"And the law is fair, as long as you obey," his friend replied, his voice shaking with awe.

"Long live the Architect!"

The shout began in the front rows, a low rumble that rapidly built into a deafening, world-shaking roar as ten million voices joined together in perfect unison, their words echoing off the dark spires and rising up toward the firmant.

"Long live the Architect! Long live the Emperor!"
