Morgan sat in the mud and glared at Declan.

She looked absolutely miserable.

Her high-end corporate tactical suit was ripped at the seams.

Her muscles twitched involuntarily from the severe system feedback.

Burning out the Neural Frenzy virus had not just drained her stamina to zero it had temporarily crippled her base stats.

She could not even stand up.

"I don’t have Origin Points," Morgan spat her voice thick with resentful pride.

"Apex Paradigm pays in real-world currency. My digital bank is empty."

Declan sighed.

He really hated dealing with broke players.

He opened his digital inventory and pulled out a small glowing green vial.

It was a scavenged healing item he had mutated a few days ago.

He casually tossed it through the air.

It landed right in Morgan’s lap.

"Drink it," Declan ordered flatly. "It will fix the feedback loop."

Morgan looked at the item.

[Item: Mutated Splicer Stim-Pack 10]

[Effect: Instantly restores 50% HP and purges all active neural debuffs. Tastes like battery acid.]

She stared at the Warlord in the black coat.

Her emotions were a complex chaotic ss.

He had completely ruined her assassination contract.

He had pinned her to the dirt for hours.

And now he was tossing her high-tier healing items like she was a stray dog.

She hated him.

But she also knew she would be dead without him.

She popped the cap off the vial and downed the liquid in one gulp.

She violently coughed.

The system text was not lying.

It burned her throat but the heavy ache in her bones vanished instantly.

Her health bar shot back up into the green.

She slowly pushed herself up to her feet.

She brushed so dried mud off her ruined suit.

"I pay my debts," Morgan said coldly.

She opened her own system interface.

She did not try to pull a weapon to fight him.

She knew that was completely pointless now.

She reached into her hidden inventory slot.

A heavy tallic object materialized in her hands.

It looked like a thick highly advanced forearm guard made of pristine white tal and glowing blue energy lines.

"Take it," Morgan said tossing the heavy gear over to him.

"It is a highly classified corporate prototype. They gave it to for this hit. It’s worth more than a million Origin Points."

Declan caught the heavy tal bracer easily.

He looked down at it.

A golden system prompt imdiately popped up.

[Item Recognized: Aegis Vanguard Bracer]

[Tier: Sovereign (Set Piece 1/4)]

[Base Stats: 100 Defense, 50 Agility]

[Description: A masterwork of corporate engineering designed to nullify heavy impact trauma.]

Declan’s eyes lit up.

Sovereign tier!

And it was a set piece!

This was vastly superior to anything he could find on the public auction house.

"Good doing business with you," Declan smiled.

He did not waste a single second.

He pulled up his enhancent nu.

He linked the white tal bracer directly to his treasury.

He had millions of Origin Points sitting in his bank from the Abyssal Tide event.

He had the funds to break the ga again.

"System," Declan commanded in his mind. "Apply Boundless Enhancent. Push the Aegis Vanguard Bracer to plus twenty. Burn the points."

Morgan took a step back her eyes going wide.

"Wait, what are you doing? You can’t enhance a Sovereign item past plus five! The code density will completely shatter!"

Declan completely ignored her.

[System Enhancent Initiated. Calculating cost...]

[Warning: Safety threshold exceeded. Item destruction imminent.]

[Cost: 200,000 Origin Points.]

"Take the points," Declan ordered.

Instantly two hundred thousand points vanished from his account.

A blinding intense white light erupted from the bracer in his hands.

It was so bright that Morgan had to throw her hands up to shield her eyes.

The system chis hamred rapidly inside Declan’s head screaming at him to stop.

Massive red warning boxes flooded his vision threatening him with neural corruption.

His SSS-Rank talent Boundless Enhancent surged forward and violently crushed the warning prompts into digital dust.

He completely bypassed all safety protocols.

[Bracer 11... 15... 19... 20.]

The white light shifted.

It turned into a deep vibrating dark purple.

The physical shape of the bracer violently warped.

The pristine white tal lted away replaced by a dense pitch-black alloy that perfectly matched his Predator’s Coat.

The blue energy lines turned into jagged glowing red runes that pulsed with pure Abyssal power.

[Aegis Vanguard Bracer has reached 20.]

[Triggering Conceptual Mutation...]

The light faded.

Declan held the heavy black tal guard in his hands.

It humd with a terrifying physics-breaking energy.

He looked at the new stats.

[Item Mutated: Abyssal Vanguard Bracer 20]

[Tier: Divine Anomaly]

[Stats: 1,000 Defense, 500 Agility]

[Trait Unlocked: Absolute Targeting]

[Functionality: Grants a 20% chance that all physical attacks completely ignore spatial geotry, physical barriers, and enemy evasion stats. The attack will unconditionally connect with the target’s core. Additionally grants massive passive resistance to all elental magic.]

Declan laughed out loud.

It was a dark highly satisfied sound.

Twenty percent chance to literally ignore the ga’s targeting chanics!

If he swung his halberd and missed the system would just rewrite reality to ensure the blade hit anyway!

And the magic resistance ant he could practically walk through fire.

He slapped the heavy black bracer onto his right forearm.

It locked into place with a heavy tallic click perfectly syncing with his nerve endings.

The jaws of Morgan dropped as she stared at Declan as though he had run mad!

She had just watched a guy dump enough currency to buy a city into a single piece of armor completely ignoring the hard-coded shatter chanics.

"You really are a walking glitch," Morgan whispered.

"I prefer the term administrator," Declan said smoothly.

He closed the enhancent nu and checked the rest of his inventory.

He had not fully inspected the loot from the Abyssal Glitch Entity he had deleted earlier.

He pulled up the two high-tier data drives.

The first one was a glowing blue disk.

[Item: Ascendant Sniper Protocol]

[Description: A highly advanced targeting program. Grants the user predictive ballistic mapping and infinite range rendering.]

Declan smirked.

"Kendra is going to love this."

He tossed it back into his storage.

He looked at the second item.

It was a long heavy hilt with no blade attached.

[Item: Sovereign Physical Blade Emitter]

[Description: A highly volatile energy hilt. Can be fused with any bladed weapon to drastically increase armor-piercing capabilities.]

It was good but he did not need it right now.

His 40 Eclipse Severance halberd already ignored all physical armor anyway.

He stored the hilt away for later.

Declan rolled his shoulders.

The heavy feeling of the hazard zone was starting to get annoying.

He looked over at Morgan.

"Alright, assassin," Declan said turning toward the edge of the crater.

"The toll is paid. You can walk out of this zone or you can stand here and wait for the next glitch monster to spawn."

He did not wait for her answer.

He started walking up the rocky slope his Spiked Striders crunching loudly on the digital dirt.

Morgan looked at the dark chaotic sky of the hazard zone.

She looked down at her ruined corporate gear.

She had no employer. She had no weapons.

She gritted her teeth let out a frustrated sigh and quickly jogged up the hill to follow the Warlord in the black coat.
