Louis’s rage was evident, further amplified by Legion’s constant laughter. He stared at Aiden, Kira, and Aren, who was still focused on his food. He couldn’t allow his rage to show. He was a high ranking mber of the Floating Palace, an organization known for being calm, respected, and powerful. Their very presence commanded authority.
He took a deep breath, relaxed his clenched fists, and slowly let it out, calming himself. Then he forced a smile onto his face and looked at them.
"Allowing yourself to miss a grand opportunity because of emotions is a stupid move," he said. "Refusing the Floating Palace because your friends’ feelings were hurt is a very, very stupid move," Louis added.
Aren suddenly paused his eating and looked at Louis with a confused expression. "Hurt feelings? Bro, you didn’t hurt my feelings," Aren said, genuinely sounding like he didn’t understand what Louis was talking about.
"Oh boy, he’s going for your throat," Legion said with a grin.
Louis grew even more vexed after hearing that, but he did his best to brush it off. "You might have been the first to survive the trials," Louis said calmly, "but making stupid moves like this will get you killed. You’d better learn this now. Within God’s Domain, you take whatever opportunity you’re given and make the best of it."
He spoke like an elder offering advice, but Aren rely waved his hand dismissively and continued eating.
"I understand what you’re saying," Aren replied, stuffing his mouth with a piece of chicken. "But after facing the first trial, I don’t really think there’s anyone who can threaten . If you want to kill , then kill . If not, leave alone. Threats won’t work."
Louis cracked a smile. "Is that so?" he asked. "Then let’s see how your life unfolds in God’s Domain. Let’s see if you can survive as long as you want and thrive."
Aren heard the threat clearly. He paused, set his food down, and looked Louis dead in the eyes. "If you co for in any way, make sure you end ," he said coldly. "Because if I survive, the next ti I see you, I’ll crush your head under my feet."
The icy seriousness in his voice stunned everyone in the room. They stared at him in shock.
Did he just threaten soone from the Floating Palace?
Such audacity. Such confidence.
"Hahahaha!" Legion burst into laughter. "I really, really like you, kid," he said, rising to his feet. He turned toward Louis. "These three are now under my protection and that of the Adventurer’s Guild. If you dare touch or lay hands on any of them, you’ll have the wrath of the entire Adventurer’s Guild to deal with."
Louis looked at him coldly. "Do you really think the Floating Palace is scared of your asly Adventurer’s Guild?" he asked.
"You might not be scared," Legion replied evenly, "but you know what will happen if an all-out war breaks out. Don’t risk it over a little anger. The three of them are under now, so don’t try anything stupid."
Louis took another breath, calming himself, before smiling. "The Floating Palace wouldn’t stoop so low as to hound young Awakened. Besides, they’re among the first to leave the trials, which ans they’re talented and skilled. We’ll still need them for the trials to co. I do hope you can provide them with what they need before the next trial arrives, because the Adventurer’s Guild isn’t exactly known for its great wealth," Louis said.
He then turned his gaze to the two girls seated nearby. "Both of you, follow if you want to join the Floating Palace," he stated.
Sophia and Elaine stood up without hesitation and followed him, not looking back at Aren and his group even once. This would probably be the last ti they saw him for a while.
Louis walked out the door, the two girls following close behind, as it shut after them.
Gordon ran a palm over his face after Louis left. "Oh, I can’t believe you three managed to piss off soone from the Floating Palace. If the other organizations heard about this, they’d beat you in public," he said, looking at them. "The Floating Palace is one of the greatest opportunities you could possibly get."
"Oh, co on," Legion said. "They’re coming with . That’s the best opportunity ever."
"Legion, don’t deceive yourself," Gordon replied. "Your Adventurer’s Guild might be good, but it will never beat the Floating Palace."
"Tsk," Legion clicked his tongue. "Keep underestimating us."
Gordon then looked at the three of them. "Are you sure about the decision you’ve made? You’ve basically blacklisted yourselves from anything that has to do with the Floating Palace," Gordon explained.
"We’ll be fine. Others have survived without the guild from what I know," Kira stated.
"Sigh, this eting went in a different direction than what I wanted," Gordon said. He pulled out three rings and placed them on the table.
"You deserve rewards for being among the first to leave the trial, and so this is it. These are specially crafted space rings, and they can contain items up to the size of a small room.
They can store things that you can’t store in your inventory, and they are very expensive. All you have to do to check inside is infuse so soul energy. Your main rewards are inside, and they should pretty much help you get ahead in the Domain.
I’ll urge you to train as best as possible, as the second trial will co when you least expect it, and you’d better be prepared for it when it does," Gordon said in a serious tone.
"Co on, don’t scare them. Allow them to unwind after the first trial," Legion said as he got to his feet. "Visit your family and have so fun as well. Get everything out of your system so that you can focus better when you lock in."
