"What do I know, I have no idea" Roman replied.

He had things he could say but he didn’t actually know the right answer or which answer she was thinking of.

"Mana is the life force of a mage, it’s the most important thing in the life of a mage, and without Mana, there’s no magic... learning Mana control is sothing that should be done growing up" Ava spoke.

"It isn’t a process that takes a day to get, so I’m surprised you’re even in the academy... before we start, you know all of this is futile right?" Ava asked.

"Because I’m going to lose the Queen’s tournant and return to the palace?"

"Yes, sure you can learn magic in the anti, but it wouldn’t really an anything since you’ll be protected," Ava continued.

"Didn’t you say I ruined your life because of this, don’t you want to try and fight"

"Try and fight, that’s funny because you wouldn’t even be able to cast an advanced spell in a month, I heard you cast a spell and fell unconscious from Mana loss, do you think you can go from that to beating or the S-rank commoner?" Ava asked.

"I’m not planning on beating you" Roman replied.

"You’re not planning on winning, you just want to show you’re a good mage, and hope they’ll let you continue"

Roman had no such idea; the most important part was for Ava to teach him. he had the potential to learn different magic, and he would use just one of them to do the trick, illusion.

In the tournant, he would face opponents who are far stronger than he is, far smarter, and obviously well-trained in duels; he had no chance of winning the tournant.

But Roman knew he had an advantage, and that was illusion magic, which is the only type of magic he could cast that no one would know unless for the person under the spell, but his current illusion spell was weak.

The reason it worked for the princess was because it wasn’t really a battle, she didn’t suspect him, and he didn’t need it for long, just to scare her into thinking he was sohow powerful, which worked, but it wouldn’t work in a ti of battle.

"Maybe I want to show, or maybe not...I still have ti to figure it out, so let’s start" Roman replied.

"There’s a basic way of learning Mana control, and that is simple, close your eyes," she said.

"Take a deep breath... and focus on your body. Try to feel the energy inside you. That warmth in your chest—that’s your Mana core. Can you feel it?"

Roman had felt Mana before; he could push it around, but he couldn’t pull it out of his core. He had already felt his core during his ti with Neia.

"Yes," Roman spoke, his eyes closed as he took a deep breath.

"Good. Now, try to pull a little bit of that energy up... slowly. Not too much, just a thread of it." Ava spoke.

"You do know talking about it isn’t helpful, right? Telling to do sothing that I can’t do is like telling you to cast illusion magic." Roman spoke as he opened his eyes.

Ava sighed and opened her eyes too. She stared at Roman for a second like she was deciding whether to say sothing or not.

"Alright," she finally said, standing up. "You want sothing that actually helps? Fine. We’ll do it the way I learned."

"So you had another way?"

"I didn’t think you’ll need it, after awakening as a mage, your body is activated, your cells are awake and magic is easier to learn from there as you know what type of magic you have"

"You’re the first person who hadn’t mastered Mana control, but you’re a male so..."

She reached inside her bag and pulled out a small black stone, smooth and round like it had been polished for years, and sat back down.

"This is a focus stone," she said, placing it between them on the floor. "It helps guide your Mana. When I was younger, I used this to learn how to pull Mana out of my core, not everyone uses it, but it helps"

Roman looked at it, unimpressed. "It’s just a rock."

Ava rolled her eyes. "It reacts to Mana. When you pour energy into it, it glows faintly. It won’t glow unless your Mana actually leaves your core. So it’s a test."

Roman leaned forward and looked at the stone closely.

"If it doesn’t glow, I fail?"

"No, it ans you’re still trash at Mana control," she said, smirking a little.

"You’re enjoying this a little too much," Roman said, and Ava chuckled.

Roman scoffed but picked it up anyway. The stone was warm to the touch as he held it.

"Sa thing," Ava continued. "Close your eyes. Try pulling just a little bit of energy. Push it through your palm into the stone"

Roman did as she said, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath. He could feel the warmth again in his chest, which was his Mana core, that pool of Mana just sitting there, he could feel it, but it felt like there was a glass blocking him from reaching it.

Roman sighed as he opened his hands, and to his surprise, the stone was glowing just a little.

"See, it’s that easy, why did you say you couldn’t do it before" Ava said with a smile as she looked at his face.

Roman dropped the stone on the ground and waited a little bit, and the glow dulled before stopping, then he picked up the stone again and closed his eyes, doing the sa thing.

The problem wasn’t that he couldn’t pull Mana from his core, he had no idea he was doing it.

When Mana was infused into his body, he could clearly sense it and move it around, but he couldn’t sense his own Mana as it moved around his body.

He opened his eyes and pulled his hand apart, and the stone was glowing brighter than last ti, but just like last ti, he couldn’t feel the Mana moving in his body.
