A cold breath left Killian's lips again. He folded his arms, looking intently at the blond boy.
"Are you insinuating that I treat you differently, and only accepted your offer today, because I learned that you are a Top Scorer?"
"Yeah, definitely. You went out of your way to speak to Ephraim yesterday but not ."
"And he's not a Top Scorer, just easier to talk to than you." Killian forced a chuckle, finding it incredulous that he had been reduced to a self-serving person. "Just stop assuming things."
He walked out before Theodore added anything else. After he just went through hell to help him test his Realmcraft, and accepting silence when he had said hello to him earlier, being branded as self-serving was tiring.
His shoulders slumped as he walked. 'This is why trying to make friends is so exhausting.' The conversation drained the last of his energy, and his new goal was just to sleep."
He took off his jacket and strapped it on his arm. As he walked out, his mind went back to the blood-loving black cloak that he had t on the first day.
Their recent conversation about Forbidden Elents made him slow down as he turned down the hallway.
Having that talk after realizing that outcasts were after him couldn't be rely a coincidence.
"You are overthinking again."
"Maybe."
He peeked out the corner before continuing. "But I can't believe outcasts could find so easily."
Reaching his dorm and not even feeling a single glance on him, apart from familiar faces from the arena who saw him destroy the stage, Killian had second thoughts.
"What if Keith even lied about getting attacked too?" He swiped the card on the room's door. The door clicked open.
He pushed in and he looked towards Reginald's bedside first. Then upwards at the ceiling.
The room was the sa way they had left it in the morning. "I guess they are still watching the other person's match." He fell on his bed, his hand wrapping his body with his blankets imdiately.
The mont his back touched the soft surface, the ache in his bones loosened. He knew he wouldn't be making any other plans unless acted upon by an external force.
At the back of his head, he mapped out having lunch later when Reginald returned.
Killian woke up to birds scratching the window. He didn't feel light rays digging into his eyes, so he turned to the window. His eyes sharpened and he forced his body off the bed.
It was dark, and he still couldn't hear any of his roommates in the room. Except the eyes watching him.
He looked at the coordinator seated beside Reginald's bed, sipping from a cup.
"You are a really private person, Killian. I don't know why I assud you were just being quiet yesterday because it was your first day."
Killian kept his eyes on the young man, before lowering himself back to the bed. His stomach grumbled the next second.
"How long have you been asleep?" The Coordinator asked. "Should I order sothing for you to eat?"
Killian nodded once.
He heard the coordinator leave his seat, and walk towards a transparent tab-like window that Killian had secretly wondered what it was for.
The coordinator slapped his card on the tallic box at the base of the transparent window, and a screen popped up.
He searched through the nu before turning to Killian, who watched him from his bed.
"Because it's late, they just have burgers and desserts to deliver. For a full-al, you might have to go to the cafeteria? Do you want to go with ?"
Killian straightened his head on his pillow, and raised his sheets to his neck. "Thanks, but I'll go with Reginald."
"Reggie? I believe he'll be having his match tomorrow so he will train with his group all night."
The sheets slowly fell off Killian's body. "Oh. I didn't know he had a match tomorrow." He paused before adding. "I'll just join you then."
The coordinator turned to where he had sat, and with a gesture, his teacup and its saucer floated to his palm. "Now?"
Seeing that he was already ready, Killian sighed, and kicked the sheets off his body. The coordinator wore a smile, watching him shuffle his feet off the bed.
"You are actually a lazy type, aren't you?"
"Leave alone."
The coordinator chuckled, opening the door. "That's cute. Who would think a young boy like you would prefer being huddled in bed than watching a match. Aren't young boys supposed to be energetic?"
Killian ignored his question. 'Does the average young boy have outcasts and angels trying to kill him too?'
They walked out of the room, heading into the dark hallway. Killian looked back at his bed and found his phone on it.
He went for it and when he got back out, a light by the other end caught his attention. He looked away but froze.
'That's not just… light.'
The intensity from it had to be caused by the Light Elent. And from the direction of the light, it was coming from soone at the Platinum-plated room.
Killian rubbed his face aggressively, before deciding. The Coordinator had already gone ahead, likely not realizing he wasn't behind him.
"The Void already confird that the Light Users can't sense . So I should be fine," he muttered under his breath.
He stepped back into the room, and looked for a darkened area to use. After the hallway leading to the Platinum-plated room, there was a storage room with a dark area.
He switched off the light in his room, causing shadows by the door.
He slipped into the shadow by the door, and rose from the shadow by the storage room. He quickly walked back to the hallway and peeked out of the room.
The light wasn't just an elent. Killian looked forward, curling his fingers instinctively. 'A girl. How can she be shining that brightly?'
He knew that was his cue to just go away, but just the back of a white haired girl whose presence radiated like midday sun only made him more curious.
Instead of turning back, he leaned forward.
'Did she evolve or sothing? Likely. That's not even human adjacent evolutions anymore.'
He breathed in and out, before looking back. Sowhere in the back of his head, he knew his luck wouldn't hold past the first ti, but he had always dared the odds.
Bright pairs of sun-gold eyes stared back at him, surrounded by pale white features.
'Ah, just my luck.'
