Underground Tunnel
linda was stunned. She hadn’t sensed that the criminals were ready to ambush them. She looked at Jeremy Night with a different gaze.
"How did you find out?" she asked.
Hearing that, Jeremy smiled and replied, "My awakened talent gives exceptional senses as well."
linda completely understood. She knew Jeremy Night had an A-Grade Talent, the Supre Combat Body. It was a talent for battle, so she was convinced.
Scream!
The next second, a screaming sound was heard. Both of their expressions changed.
"You bring the corpses back. I’ll go ahead to help!" After saying that, linda dashed forward without looking back.
Jeremy’s expression grew serious. He knew the team mbers had been careless to begin with; they had treated it like an easy mission.
But they forgot that among criminals, so could be desperate. If they didn’t handle it properly, they could face real danger.
Rustle!
Just then, his senses picked up a disturbance again. It was coming from the tunnel path ahead. Since things had co this far, he planned to go ahead and check it out.
Swoosh!
He abandoned the corpses and rushed forward into the new path, holding his katana tightly.
He had thought his first team mission would be against corrupted beasts, but he never expected to be up against criminals.
Ahead, a group of survivors from the Skull Gang were hiding. They had received information that the governors ordered beast tars to look for their hideout.
Most of the criminals had vacated the area; so chose to leave the city for the wilderness, while others chose to hide in the underground tunnel network covering the city.
They doubted the governors would be willing to destroy the tunnels, as that would be equal to destroying the foundation of the city.
Suddenly, a middle-aged man with a scarred face raised his head and said, "Soone is coming in our direction."
The others assud it was just soone from another gang trespassing.
"Other gangs aren’t having a peaceful ti either. When was the last ti we faced such a situation?" a gang mber asked.
"It’s all because of those corrupted beasts appearing in the city. It exposed everyone and gave the governors a reason to act," another mber added. Clearly, they hadn’t forgotten the beasts.
The middle-aged man stayed silent. At first, he didn’t take it seriously, but as the person got closer, everyone’s Lifeline Beasts alerted them to the scent of an outsider.
Swoosh!
All ten gang mbers stood up. The middle-aged man and the others turned seriou, even those who had ignored the warning earlier.
The middle-aged man cautioned, "Don’t bring out your Lifeline Beasts. It could destroy the tunnel and our whereabouts will be exposed."
"Okay," the others agreed.
Swoosh!
Jeremy reached the end of the tunnel quickly. His senses pinpointed the exact location of the criminals. He found ten of them, but none had their Lifeline Beasts out.
His eyes flashed with understanding. The underground tunnels were a good place to hide, but they also created a weakness: the criminals couldn’t fight using their beasts.
Swoosh!
Jeremy took a right turn and leaped towards them.
Boom!
He ca across a volley of fireballs. His eyesight was better in the tunnel, and with his powerful senses, he imdiately evaded the attack.
His blade moved toward the person who had launched the strike. The gang mber was petrified.
Unfortunately, being the first person in line, he couldn’t retreat. He saw a blur before his eyes before his head was separated from his body. Until the very end, the man didn’t know how he died.
Gasp!
Everyone gasped in surprise. The middle-aged man and the others were terrified. A few of them abandoned the fight and started fleeing.
Pfff!
Jeremy used his footwork to avoid direct attacks and marched forward.
Slash!
The katana blade in his hand was dancing. Whenever the blade carved a beautiful arc in the air, the decapitated heads rolled across the ground.
The Skull Gang mbers happened to be Tier-3 and Tier-4 Beast Tars, yet none of their bodies could withstand the sharp edge of his blade, especially when it was coated with a single thread of Starlight Power.
The blade ended their lives in single moves.
Puchak!
When the last person was dead, Jeremy saw the drainage water had turned blood red. Headless bodies lay in the water.
Jeremy counted only seven; three had escaped. He noticed they were higher-ranking Skull Gang mbers.
It was impossible for him to give up now. So many Red Moon Chamber mbers had died because of them and other gangs.
He had played a role in the cri-fighting mission as well; he knew that if he hadn’t participated, things might have been much worse.
His eyes turned icy cold.
Swoosh!
The next second, he chased after them. He didn’t believe they could escape his hands.
It didn’t take long for him to catch up with the eighth mber, none other than the scar-faced middle-aged man.
Boom!
The middle-aged man was a Tier-4 Beast Tar, but upon seeing the Tier-3 young man, he was scared sh!tless.
He knew if this continued, his head would be next. He turned around and started pleading.
"Let go! I will give you money and my lifelong collections!" the man cried.
Jeremy appeared in front of him, montarily pausing at the man’s words.
A cruel light flashed in the middle-aged man’s eyes. He summoned his Lifeline Beast the very next mont, certain that a Tier-3 Beast Tar couldn’t survive an attack from his beast.
Swoosh!
Jeremy saw a snake’s mouth flash before him. He swung his blade.
Pfff!
Before the snake could bite him, the tip of the blade precisely penetrated its head, bringing the beast down with a heavy thud.
Boom!
The size of the beast was so large that it occupied the entire space, blocking the path forward.
AaahhhHhh!
The middle-aged man let out a blood-curdling scream. Because his Lifeline Beast had suffered a fatal injury, his ntal zone was devastated.
