Field
Jeremy Night continued to stare into Nick’s eyes. He didn’t know what had happened, but Nick finally nodded his head. Jeremy didn’t believe him, but he had no choice.
Nick held an official position. If sothing happened to him here in this field, Jeremy would be targeted.
The association might not listen to him. Jeremy knew the risk, so he spared Nick’s life, just for now. But if he found the man targeting him behind his back again, he would definitely eliminate him in the future.
A few minutes later, both of them departed in Nick’s car. Nick was driving while Jeremy sat in the back seat, frowning.
He didn’t know whether the trouble would end here or not. Soon, the car left the field. They were now on their way back to the human settlent.
20 minutes later,
The car arrived in front of the human settlent: Fortress. Jeremy didn’t let down his guard; he was always vigilant. He wondered whether Nick had any accomplices.
They both stepped out of the car at the sa ti. Jeremy watched Nick’s face closely, looking to see if the man was scheming. But Nick was scared sh!tless. He didn’t dare to try anything right now.
He looked at the young beast tar and said, "You killed more than 100 blood rat beasts, which already ets the mission requirent. The staff won’t question you for spending only one day here."
Jeremy nodded. "I’m going to wait here. Bring the report," he commanded.
Nick nodded and turned toward the main gate. He didn’t look back until he was inside the settlent. Only then did he sigh in relief. The clouds of death looming over him were gone.
He could start his revenge against the young beast tar right now but he didn’t dare. He suspected the young tar was from the Red Moon Chamber and might have already alerted them.
Deciding to wait on his revenge, Nick went directly to his office.
He created a report and signed it himself, verifying that Jeremy Night did indeed kill more than a hundred blood rat beasts. He printed the report and sent an electronic copy to the association.
Just as he was about to leave to deliver the paper, he received a phone call. The caller was none other than Tyson Hill, the young master of the Hill Family.
Nick’s face changed drastically. Both of his hands trembled.
The young master had given him orders to silence Jeremy, but he had failed. Instead, he was the one being threatened. If he didn’t answer, the consequences would be far worse. He picked up the call.
"Young master!" Nick uttered.
"What’s going on? Did you take care of the person?" Tyson asked. His voice was calm, as if he were asking about a trivial matter.
Nick’s face darkened. "No," he replied with great difficulty.
"What? I told you to handle the matter quickly. Otherwise, the chances of getting exposed are higher."
"I have been planning to go there to find the King Rat; it must be enraged by those killings by now. If I don’t take care of the King Rat beast in ti, it will attack the city and expose our actions," Tyson said sternly.
"Young master, are you coming?" Nick asked.
"Yes," Tyson replied.
Hearing that, Nick regained so confidence. If the young master was coming, he would take care of Jeremy. Nick took a deep breath before explaining the situation.
A few minutes later,
Tyson lost his composure, his blood boiling with anger. He couldn’t believe his actions had been exposed to a third party.
Not only that, but Nick had failed to silence the witness. If Jeremy returned, the risk of exposure was too high.
"You trash," Tyson hissed after a deep breath.
"You failed to complete a simple task. I don’t care what you have to do, but I want that beast tar back in the field. I’ll co with a few people. We will bury him along with the corpses of those rat beasts."
Nick gulped before agreeing. Tyson ended the call in frustration.
Nick wiped the sweat from his brow and looked toward the exit. He knew the young beast tar was waiting.
He had intended to hand over the report to save his own life, but the call from the young master had put him in a dangerous position once again.
If he didn’t finish the task, he would die miserably.
Since the young master was coming, Jeremy would definitely be killed but Nick had to lure him back to the field first. A plan began to form in his mind.
He left the office building and started making his way back toward the gate.
On the other hand, Jeremy Night was feeling uneasy. He didn’t know why, but a sense of dread settled in his heart.
"It appears I’m not out of danger yet," Jeremy thought.
The only danger surrounding him now was this mission. As long as he submitted the report to the association staff, he would be free.
He could forfeit the mission halfway, but it would leave a permanent mark on his profile. He didn’t want that. He could only wait for Nick to bring the report.
It didn’t take long for him to see soone approaching the gate. It was Nick.
As he approached, Jeremy’s eyes flickered and his vision zood in. He studied Nick’s expression. The man looked more confident than before.
"Is he up to sothing?" Jeremy wondered. Normally, the man should still be terrified. Sothing must have happened inside.
He waited for the person to co. Nick walked with a confident stride. When he got closer. He changed his expression and started pretending to be weak and scared.
He was afraid that young beast tar could figure out his expression.
"What happened?" Jeremy asked.
Because he was sure that sothing happened. He saw Nick change his expression at the last mont.
Jeremy Night decided not to let down his guard. He could face a sneak attack.
