5th Zone, Wilderness
Ti passed.
Jeremy was watching nonstop from his vantage point. Earlier, he had used x-ray vision to scan the hideout. He detected the movent of a Tier-6 Beast Tar inside.
Last ti, he had encountered a Tier-6 Beast Tar inside. This ti, he found more than one. It was a bit risky to stay there because the Beast Tars had their lifeline beasts with them.
Once they appeared outside, the lifeline beasts would warn them about their surroundings.
Jeremy felt a sense of unease. He had co here with so confidence, but he knew the dangers surrounding the place.
The corrupted beasts were active at night. He could co across insect-type lifeline beasts or other corrupted creatures.
As ti passed, the corrupted beasts in the wilderness ca out to start their nightti hunt. Many of them walked past the hideout.
Jeremy Night used his x-ray vision to watch them. He wondered whether the corrupted beasts would co near his position.
If any Tier-6 beast or higher appeared, it could easily detect his presence.
Worried about the higher-tier beasts, he made no noise and continued to observe the hideout from his vantage point.
Two hours later,
Jeremy finally got his chance. He saw two people coming out of the hideout. Seeing this, Jeremy thought it was the perfect opportunity.
He decided to make a move; if he missed this chance, he would have to spend the entire night out here.
Swoosh!
He darted out from his hiding spot, unsheathing his katana as he ran. He didn’t want to alert the enemy. He saw that the two Beast Tars had co outside to relieve themselves.
In the blink of an eye, he closed the distance.
But before he could reach them, the two Beast Tars’ lifeline beasts alerted them.
They turned around and saw soone charging at them. They were shocked to the core. In the next second, they summoned their lifeline beasts.
Two four-legged beasts appeared. They were over three ters in size.
Cut!
Jeremy swept his blade at the first beast. The blade moved in a wide arc, cutting through the creature’s flesh.
Next, he made an imdiate slash toward the second beast. Both were Tier-4 beasts. His blade penetrated the side of the second beast, making a wide gash.
Puchak!
Blood spurted from the wounds. As both beasts wailed in pain, the Beast Tars felt the backlash. They felt a heart-severing pain as their bodies convulsed.
Pfff!
They coughed up mouthfuls of blood.
Swoosh!
Jeremy appeared before them. He pressed his blade against one of their necks while pointing a gun at the second one with his left hand. All of this happened within a minute.
"Recall your lifeline beasts," Jeremy commanded.
Both Beast Tars were terrified. They thought soone from the City Administration had arrived, perhaps a raid planned by the City Governors.
They complied and recalled their injured lifeline beasts to their ntal zones.
Once they did, Jeremy imdiately began questioning them. He didn’t ntion himself directly; instead, he asked about the missions of the Darkshade mbers.
The two Beast Tars, convinced he was from the administration, feared punishnt and began divulging information. It didn’t take long for them to reveal information relevant to him.
"Team Leader Jeffery was assigned a mission to kill a mber of the Red Moon Chamber. But the target hasn’t entered the wilderness yet. They are facing delays because of that," one of them said.
Jeremy’s heart turned cold. He now had confirmation that Darkshade mbers were targeting him.
"Who gave the orders?" he asked.
"We don’t know. We only know what we heard from the chats inside. We don’t have any other details. You’ll have to find Team Leader Jeffery for that," the middle-aged man said.
"Where is he now?" Jeremy asked.
"He left with his team earlier. They haven’t returned yet," the man replied.
Jeremy felt he had enough information, but then he thought of sothing and asked to see pictures of Team Leader Jeffery and the others.
Both n hesitated, so Jeremy pressed the blade deeper. A thin layer of flesh was sliced, and blood seeped out.
Terrified, one of them took out his device and showed him pictures of Jeffery’s team.
"That’s Jeffery," the middle-aged man said, pointing at the screen.
At the sa ti, the second person reached for his device to alert the others, realizing too late that they were likely going to die anyway.
Puchak!
In the next second, a sharp blade slit his neck. His consciousness faded into darkness as his head separated from his body and rolled across the ground.
The first man was even more scared. He gave up further information about the mbers and their lifeline beasts.
Jeremy recognized the faces. Furthermore, he was surprised to learn about Jeffery’s lifeline beast.
"A gorilla," Jeremy thought.
He could guess Jeffery’s talent; it likely involved strength. He couldn’t help but think of his Star Fist. What better chance would he have to test his skills than against Team Leader Jeffery?
The problem was that Jeffery was a Tier-6 Beast Tar. His Tier-6 Gorilla’s physical strength could be comparable to a Tier-7 beast. It was risky, but he wanted to test his strength.
Slice!
In the next second, he decapitated the remaining Beast Tar. The headless body slumped to the ground.
He grabbed the unlocked device and quickly left the vicinity of the hideout. He knew the corpses would be discovered soon, so he needed to get out of range.
Before long, the people in the hideout realized the two mbers had not returned.
The team leader sent two more mbers outside to check. They were aware of the dangers and looked around cautiously.
It didn’t take long for them to stumble upon the headless corpses. Shocked to the core, one of them rushed back inside to sound the alarm.
The whole hideout was shocked to the core. They imdiately thought they were under attack. The Tier-6 Beast Tars rushed outside to check the site.
They saw the headless corpses as well.
