Governor's Office
The Beast Taming Head digested the bitter pill. He raised his head and looked at the two Governors. One of them was already dead before they even knew it.
It showed how grave the situation was. They could be facing a serious threat this ti. He didn't have words to say.
Creak!
The next second, a figure rushed inside. The figure was none other than the Central University Head, his face full of disbelief.
He had co here after knowing about the eting, but he had just heard sothing which jolted him awake.
"Are you serious?" he asked, looking towards the Governors.
He saw that both of their faces were down and their eyes were filled with grief and anger. They were not bluffing.
"It's true," Martin uttered.
"We believe that the Tier-9 Beast causing terror this ti is not an aerial-type beast, but a land-type beast," Orion said in a calm tone.
Hearing that, everyone relaxed their nerves. They were worried about what the new Tier-9 beast was; since it was not an aerial bird-beast, it was good news for the city and for them.
They can contain the beast in the wilderness and try to stop it from reaching the city, because the attack of a Tier-9 beast is destructive.
If the beasts have long-range attacks, they can devastate the city from a distance.
The Central University Head sat on the empty chair. Like the others, he looked dispirited. He wanted to know more.
How co two Tier-9 Corrupted Beasts had appeared in such a short span of ti? There must be sothing going on.
The Central University Head is no ordinary person. The University itself is a force; they have branches in other human zones as well.
He had discussed the situation of the city with other heads. They too felt sothing was amiss. They felt the Governors were hiding sothing—perhaps an order from above. It must be the Human Alliance.
City A of the 5th Zone is one of the few zones which borders the unexplored region. In such a place, anything is possible.
"What do the Human Alliance higher-ups say?" the Beast Taming Head asked. He believed that they must have heard the information before everyone else.
Hearing that, the others recovered their thoughts and looked towards the Governors.
Governor Martin said, "The higher-ups have already learned the news. They have dispatched five Lords this ti."
Gasp!
"Five Lords!"
A loud exclamation occurred. The heads of the various forces were further shocked.
They had underestimated the seriousness of the situation. If the Five Lords who are Five Tier-9 Beast Tars are coming here, then a beast tide is imminent. It's going to be dangerous this ti.
Everyone started showing so fear. They only dared to show such an expression here, in front of the Governors.
If the public were to see such expressions, they would lose confidence. It could terrify them.
The Beast Taming Head didn't know what to say. His expression was blank. He truly thought it was going to be a do-or-die situation.
A single Tier-9 Beast Tar from the Human Alliance was usually enough to handle an average Tier-9 Corrupted Beast.
But if five such people were coming here, he couldn't imagine the level of threat. He thought of another possibility which sent a cold shiver down his spine.
On the other hand, it was the sa case with the Head of the Central University. He thought of the sa possibility at the sa ti, but he didn't dare to voice the opinion.
Governor Martin and Orion looked at each other. They had hidden one more piece of news: the death of Robert Hill. He was the first kill made by the Tier-9 Corrupted beast.
If they were to tell this news, the others would be further shocked. It could lead to an unwanted situation, so they chose to hide the matter.
The other heads were discussing the arrival of the Tier-9 Beast Tars from the Human Alliance. The Beast Taming Association Head finally decided to ask.
He couldn't have this thought disturbing his mind non-stop. He thought it was right to ask instead of overthinking it.
"Governor Martin, I don't know why five Lords are coming here. Are we under such a threat?" he asked.
Hearing that, everyone turned towards him. The Central University Head relaxed as well; his thoughts and the Beast Taming Association Head's thoughts were on the sa wavelength.
"What do you an?" Orion asked.
"I suspect we are facing a Colossal Beast," he uttered.
Boom!
The next second, a huge commotion occurred. The various heads stood up from their seats.
"A Colossal Beast?"
"Are you insane?"
"When was the last ti such an existence attacked our city?"
The other heads started scolding the Beast Taming Association Head. They were not in their right minds.
They didn't know what they were doing. The re ntion of a Colossal Beast made them lose their minds. In other words, such a creature is called a Tier-10 Beast.
No ordinary Tier-9 Beast Tar can fight such a beast. They would need a large number of Tier-9 Beast Tars or the elite among them to fight against a Colossal Beast.
The Central University Head showed a serious face. His friend had spoken his mind, so he spoke up in support.
"He is right. Only a Colossal Beast can force five Lords to co here. Usually, they don't stay in the human zones."
"Either they perform missions in the unexplored region or they fight against Colossal Beasts to drive them away from human populations," he added.
Hearing this, everyone started asking the sa questions. Governor Martin and Orion swept their gaze across the room.
Martin then said, "Listen, everybody. I have checked the site. Governor Leon was killed by a Tier-9 Corrupted beast, along with a small population in the human settlents.
If it were a Colossal Beast, do you think the city would have been safe? We would have felt the tremors by now," Martin said in an angry tone.
Quiet!
Hearing that, everyone quieted down. What he said was right. The Beast Taming Association Head and the Central University Head agreed.
They cald the other heads. They were just guessing; a Colossal Beast would have wiped them out already. They didn't dare to imagine it.
It took a few minutes for everyone to calm down.
