Evelyn POV

Driving down the highway I was brought to a standstill by a figure in the middle of the road. The lights illuminating his large intimidating stance. I stopped the car, pulling over and off the road. Thaddeus walked over, ripping the car door open. I was too ntally fatigued for his shit right now.

" Get out now" Thaddues says, reaching for the ignition and ripping the keys out.

"Thaddeus I don t want to do this right now just leave alone" I tell him willing myself to not cry in front of him.

"You don t get to make a scene at ho, then tell to leave alone" He says, I could feel the darkness consuming him like a raging storm. The air beca electrified and I could sll the buzz of his magic rippling out of him like an aura.

"Can I have the keys back please" I ask him, holding my hand out for them.

"No, you need to co back and apologise"

"Apologise for what, I don t have to apologise for shit. I am not the one pretending we didn t just lose our fucking son" I scream at him now pissed off.

"You think you are the only one that lost him, at least we didn t run off ignoring Mara, you did that! left us to deal with all this shit because you are weak, fucking weak. Grow up and stop running from shit"

"I m not running you fucking prick, you could have pulled out, you think I wanted to be stuck in my own fucking head. It would have took you two seconds to pull out and you chose not to, so don t put that on " I tell him getting out of the car, if he won t give the keys I will fucking walk.

"You did not just say that?" I say spinning around to face him. He shrugs, and I could tell he wanted to inflict pain, wanted to hurt . "I know how many opportunities you had to make that stop, you have no one to bla but yourself, I saw the amount of tis you would stand outside that police station but never go in, instead running away like you are doing now" Of all the people to bla for what happened I never thought it would be my own mates.

"Because you ran just like you are doing now because you’re weak, ruled by fear. Ruled by emotion" He says.

"Then have nice life Thaddeus" I tell him before taking off. I ran the entire way to the cafe. It was on the main street of the city. Imogen opened the cafe with . When I was pregnant I worked until I could no more, the bigger I got the harder it got to maneuver around the place. And I couldn t exactly keep running here. The city was a couple hours from our place. The running was too much, yet if I drove it would take half the day so we hired others to take over while I remained ho, or went to work with Ryland whose office was a few blocks down from the cafe. During the week we sotis stayed at Imogens so we didn’t have such a long commute. Thaddeus grandparents would sotis take Mara if not she would co to work with .

Stopping through the front door, the ring of bell above the door signalled my entry. I walk in flicking lights on. Walking into the kitchen, I start turning on the burners and deep fryers letting everything heat up when I hear the bell. I walk back to the front of the store, Thaddues walks in looking around. I can t rember the last ti he ca in here. He rarely had ti with work. I grab the coffee jugs ignoring him and walking out the back to wash them out before putting them on.

"So you are done then?" Thaddeus asks but I ignore him. Instead, cleaning up the ss the girls who worked here clearly forgot to do, even the table needed cleaning, or maybe I was just picky with my now heightened senses. Everything looked filthy to , yet I knew those that worked here were capable and efficient.

"Are you going to answer ?"

"Leave Thaddeus," I tell him, grabbing the cloth and washing the glass jugs and placing them upside down on a tea towel to dry.

"No, legally this place is mine. I don t have to leave, so answer "

"Yes Thaddeus I am done, we are done I want nothing to do with you now fucking leave. Why are you trying to pick a fight with ?"

"I m not you did when you were abusing Orion, who by the way has been raising your daughter while you were in lala land"

"Well I would hope so because she is his daughter too, you know it’s called parenting you should try it. I am not so house wife and the fathers are supposed to share the load not that you would know, you don t do shit for anyone but yourself, now get the fuck out" I snap at him.

"Are you really going to just walk on us?"

"You want gone, I am gone Thaddeus, you got what you want now please just leave"

"What about Mara?"

"What about her?"

"Are you going to walk out on her too?"

"No I will co get her this afternoon" I tell him and he growls, the lights flickering when one of them suddenly bursts.

"You are not taking my daughter anywhere"

"What are you going to raise her?" I chuckle at the thought that would be a disaster.

"She stays you can go, but she remains with us so choose Evelyn"

"Just go Thaddeus"

"Be a sha if this place burnt to the ground?" He says looking around while I try and clean up the broken glass from the lightbulb choosing to ignore him. Nothing was going to co of getting worked up around him. Especially with his magic all he knows is how to hurt people, and reacting to him would only end with being hurt.

"Yes, your mother would be devastated, she loves this place, now please leave" I tell him.

"Fine I will go, but don t co ho Evelyn you made your choice" Whatever I think to myself rolling my eyes, I was used to his tantrums. Like an oversized toddler chucking a wobbly when he doesn t get his way.

Unknown POV

"Any news from the scouts" I ask looking at Laura as she enters my den.

"No pretty much the sa, they barely leave the house, but his mate went into that cafe they run"

"Which mate?"

"The girl. His sister has also gone to Bianca s. We have n following her but keeping a distance so she doesn t notice them or pick them up"

"I wonder if she can sense anything?"

"I don t think so we have kept Bianca pretty sedated, though the sister I think knows sothing is up, she has been seen looking for her. Went to so old ntal hospital too looking for her aunt"

"Yeah visited so girl called Lana"

"Interesting, keep tabs on Amara. I want to know when she goes ho or if she realises sothing sinister has happened to her aunt"

"Yes sir" Laura says, about to walk out and back up the stairs to the main house.

"Oh and Laura, keep an eye on the girl, I might have just co with an idea, especially if she is going back to work, we might be able to use that"

"Possibly, we tapped into the caras and the footage showed her arguing with her mate, we couldn’t hear what was said but it was apparent they are not on good terms" She says. I nod, that does get the mind racing, maybe this wouldn t be as hard as I thought to get revenge on Thaddeus, maybe his mate might just very well walk into her own trap.

"Keep an eye on her and rember to keep your mind blank, vampires can get in your head just do what I taught you and you should be fine"

"Wait, you want to go?"

"Yes Laura, I can t very well go, she would recognise " Laura looks around nervously, before finally nodding. I watch her jean clad arse walk up the basent steps, hear the erratic pumping of her heart in her chest, sll her fear. I usually keep her on the sidelines for the most part especially after the monuntal fuck up she caused. But this has just given an opportunity, one I won’t turn up.

Now I just need to get that bitch of an aunt to start talking, the only problem is, I have her wake her, too long the sister may pick her up, the last thing I need is her to start looking for her before I am ready to deal with her.
