Evelyn POV

Waking up, I was laying with my head on Thaddeus’ chest. I sat up suddenly, the events of last night coming back to , though the mory was a little fuzzy.

Thaddeus was watching , a strange look on his face. "Morning" cos Rylands voice from my other side making look over at him. Orion was sitting on the end of the bed, also staring intently at .

"Where is Mara?" I ask nervously, not liking the silence as they stared. The feeling coming from them made anxious.

"With my mother" Thaddeus says. I nod about to climb off the bed when Ryland grips my wrist tugging back to where I was. I felt caged, backed into a corner being eaten alive by their judging eyes. I fucked up, I knew I fucked up.

"Don’t run," Ryland says before letting my wrist go.

"You are not to leave this house for the next three days" Thaddeus says.

He can’t be serious, can he? They weren’t seriously grounding like so disobedient kid? I go to say sothing when Thaddeus cuts off with one finger in the air, making shut my mouth.

"You have betel nut and jimson weed in your system, which ans for the next 72 hours you can be compelled, so you will be staying ho for the next 3 days to be safe no argunts" Thaddeus says.

"Because I took ecstasy, I am grounded?" I ask incredulously, I am not a child.

"No, because you are at risk of being compelled again, that is why" Thaddeus answers.

"Again?" I ask, rembering the weird voice I kept hearing. I thought, I wasn’t sure what I thought but thinking back I know it felt wrong.

"Yes, unless you’re telling that man’s voice that was in your head was your own consciousness, then yes you were compelled, but that doesn’t explain why you were on mainstreet. I specifically told you to stay away from there"

"I didn’t know that’s where she was taking " I argued back.

"That may be true Evelyn but you knew you weren’t to go there, you should have said no and ca ho, sa as when she offered you drugs, you are an adult that just made childish decisions"

"I’m not listening to this, I am not going to be scolded like a fucking child" I tell them getting up and heading for the door. Just as I was about to walk out the door suddenly slamd in my face. Orion beside in an instant. An angry look on his face before he points back to the bed.

"Sit down!" He snaps at and I roll my eyes at him about to go around him when he steps in my way, his arms folded over his chest as he looks down at .

"Don’t test , Evelyn. I am not in the mood" he warns , his eyes turning crimson.

"Now Evelyn" Ryland says from the bed. I turn around looking at them.

"Stop saying my.na like that" I hated when they used my whole na, it irritated and I knew I was in shit when they did it. Ryland raises an eyebrow at and Thaddeus shakes his head before looking at the ceiling, putting his head back on the wall behind him.

"Do I have to count?" Thaddeus says.

"I’m not a child" I tell him. What’s he going to do count to 3 and if I don’t what I am told is he going to spank .

"Don’t act like one and I won’t treat you like one, now sit down we aren’t done speaking" he says looking over at .

"Oh I am so done speaking, I won’t be stood over by you 3" I tell him.

"1!" He counts and I fold my arms across my chest defiantly, he won’t do shit. I thought to myself.

"2!" He says and Orion nudges forward.

"Want to count the last one for you?" I ask. When he suddenly gets up, my heart skips a beat. He steps toward , and I could feel his frustration. He reaches for and suddenly I don’t want to know what happens after 3.

"Fine, fine I will sit down" I tell him, stepping back only to bump into Orion behind . He leans down his voice next to my ear.

"Bed is over there" he says, nudging forward with his hand. Thaddeus stares at waiting expectantly. I walk past him sitting back on the bed. Ryland reaches over grabbing my waist and yanking to the centre and Thaddeus sits back down.

I groan becoming annoyed.

"Don’t be getting annoyed Evelyn you never walked in on any of us screwing around" Orion says from where he was leaning on the wall next to the door.

"I wasn’t screwing around" I spit back at him.

"No but still the sa, you killed 5 people, marked 1 person, who you should have known wasn’t us"

"Orion!" Ryland warns him.

"No! Don’t tell she didn’t know, she fucking killed them and instead of leaving she remained there, she could have left anyti Ryland. I saw what happened when Thaddeus got in her head, one of them even questioned her when she called him the wrong na but was too blood crazed to care and ignored her own instincts"

I say nothing, I knew in a sense they weren’t them because it felt off yet I couldn’t bring myself to see past the urges, couldn’t help myself.

"Enough!" Thaddeus says, pinching the bridge of his nose and squeezing his eyes shut.

Nobody says anything instead all of us staring at Thaddeus who was fighting war within himself. I could feel the darkness tugging at the edges of his control, trying to find a way in. He lets out a breath looking up, managing to compose himself.

"The bitching and arguing needs to stop, all of you are driving insane" he says.

"Can we just get this over with?" I ask, sick of sitting in this room with all its testosterone fuelled anger directed at .

"You don’t leave for the next 3 days, you will also fire Laura. I don’t want her near you"

"Fuck firing her, I am going to kill the evil wench" Orion says and I look at him.

"You can’t just kill people,Orion"

"Why not, you did" he retorts.

"What else, hurry up" I tell him.

"Lose the tone, we didn’t do anything, if we didn’t find you, you would probably be in a gutter sowhere so lose the attitude" Thaddeus says. I look away and at Ryland.

"Well, they all had a go at , what cat got your tongue Ryland"

"You are being a bitch we just wanted to talk to you, but clearly you have no intention of listening to anything we have to say" he says getting up. He walks out of the room slamming the door behind him.

Wait so he gets to leave but I have to remain?

"Why are you being like this, we are just trying to talk to you?" Thaddeus says. Talk to , they aren’t talking to , they are telling ?

"You are treating like a fucking child,"

"You are acting like one" Orion snaps at .

"Clearly this is going nowhere, just everyone needs to stop, we will talk about it later" Thaddeus says.

"You’re not even going to ntion it?" Orion asks him, making wonder what he is talking about.

"Not while you are this angry, everyone just needs to cool off" Thaddeus says.

Orion throws his arms up annoyed, turning for the door. "Orion!"

"No Thaddeus" he says walking out. Thaddeus sighs. I wait for him to leave but he doesn’t.

"Can I go now?" I ask and he nods. I hopped up walking out and went downstairs to make a coffee. Orion walks past heading for the door with his keys in his hand.

"Are you leaving?" I ask him.

"Yes, to get our daughter," he says, not bothering to stop.

"I told mum she could have her for the night, she asked for a sleepover" Thaddeus says walking down the steps as he reaches the front door.

"What?" Orion turns to face him.

"I’m not arguing over this Orion, they are perfectly capable of having her for the night" Thaddeus tells him. Orion starts arguing with him and I walk off, turning the kettle on and ignoring them. I made coffee and could still hear Thaddeus and Orion yelling. Well Orion was yelling and Thaddeus was talking calmly. It was weird to hear, usually it was the opposite way around.
