The next mont, a spike of earth burst from the ground behind Lu Ye, slamming harshly into his waist. As Lu Ye stumbled backwards, his spine ached painfully. Had he not activated his protective spirit force, he might have been seriously injured.
"Ice Spike!" A chill suddenly arose as Luo Ji pointed at Lu Ye, and a sharp ice spike, the length of a chopstick, flew toward Lu Ye's face like an arrow released from a bow.
Lu Ye's eyes were still shut, as the sudden blinding light had been quite severe. Without any consideration, he activated a Defense Spirit Rune to shield himself as he sensed the oncoming chill.
There was a booming impact, as if what hit the Defense Spirit Runes wasn't an ice spike but a massive boulder. Lu Ye was forced back even further, his cheeks throbbing with pain as the shattered ice spikes left a series of fine cuts on his face.
