---------------------------------------------------------------------
Having heard Voldemort say all this about — or rather, what he thought he understood about — I just frowned, pretending to be slightly bothered... and perhaps a little reflective at his words.
Noticing this, he smiled slyly, a slight gleam of smugness in his eyes.
"Night, you must already know that one of my servants, Barty Crouch Junior, had infiltrated Hogwarts... And I also know that you must have t him in the maze" he said, looking at carefully.
As soon as the Dark Lord revealed this, his followers' eyes widened in surprise — discovering im that mont that Barty Junior was alive, and not dead as they thought. Harry, on the other hand, was completely shocked to discover that there was a Death Eater infiltrated at Hogwarts.
Blinking in confusion, I found this sudden change of subject strange, not knowing where Voldemort was going by bringing this subject up.
But ignoring everyone's reactions, the evil wizard continued with the sa calculating calm.
"But well... since you're here now, in this graveyard, it can only an that Barty failed in his mission to stop you from reaching the cup. And, consequently, that also ans that he failed in the other mission related to you."
"And considering the decisive and cruel thods you demonstrated tonight, plus the fact that he isn't present here, I can assu that you probably killed him, just like you did with Wormtail, am I right?"
"Yes, I killed him," I replied firmly, not trying to deny it because it would be pointless. Voldemort was already sure of his servant's fate, he just wanted to confirm it.
"I understand..."
As soon as I confird what he already knew, a flash of emotion quickly passed through Voldemort's eyes.
However, unlike the disdainful and almost indifferent emotions he felt at Pettigrew's death, the emotions he displayed now were of sadness and grief.
And it was at this mont that I realized that even though he was soone cold and arrogant, who only thought of himself and despised everyone, the Dark Lord was still capable of mourning the death of a truly faithful and loyal servant.
Of course, I knew that didn't an he cared about Barty—let alone any other Death Eater. His grief wasn't out of empathy or care…it was about the loss of a wizard who had been so useful and capable to his cause, and to him. An asset he couldn't simply replace, and that was what made him unhappy.
"You know, Night... When Barty Junior first told about a Hogwarts student... a Ravenclaw boy who was still in his fourth year and who was quite special and talented, to the point where he managed to catch his attention, I didn't think much of it," he spoke again, his voice low and controlled.
"However, after the first two tasks, he contacted again... Telling about what happened in those tasks, and describing in detail everything he saw you do during the tournant."
"He told about your skills, strategies, power... And I have to admit, I was genuinely impressed by what I heard." Voldemort nodded slightly after saying this – as if this gesture was so kind of acknowledgent from him to .
"So, my loyal and attentive servant proposed sothing quite bold, and even a little unbelievable coming from him. He suggested that I offer you a place among our ranks... That I give you the chance to join the cause that will change the world."
And with those words, I resisted the urge to roll my eyes, realizing that I had actually been right in my assumption.
Voldemort, like Barty Junior, wanted to beco a Death Eater.
'Honestly, I think it was less annoying when dark wizards tried to kill instead of inviting into their secret group of evil friends,' I thought, snorting in silent contempt.
In fact, it made no sense to that he was insisting on recruiting - and it made even less sense that Voldemort thought I would accept his offer, especially after I had refused Barty Junior's.
'Well, at least knowing that I'm so desired by dark wizards feeds my ego a little.'
Unaware of my thoughts that would surely make him angry, Voldemort continued his speech.
"And well, after so consideration and reflection on my part, I ca to the conclusion that you were indeed soone worth recruiting under my command, even with your little 'blood problem'."
"So that is why I, Lord Voldemort, now say to you..."
The newly resurrected Dark Lord extended his arm, offering his hand to in a solemn and inviting, almost theatrical way.
"Join , Night. Beco my servant and warrior... Give your entire being to , so that we—"
"Nuh-uh"

"..."
Voldemort paused for a long, uncomfortable mont, staring at with a confused and slightly offended expression.
"You... You said nuh-uh to ?"
"? No. You must have heard wrong," I denied, without changing my expression, "Please continue with what you were saying."
"Hm..." Voldemort looked at without really believing my answer, but he continued to speak anyway.
"Ahem, as I was saying... Join , Night, as a loyal follower, and in return I will give you everything you've ever wanted—"
"Nuh-uh!"
"I heard it! You said it again!" and being interrupted again Voldemort exploded, looking at angrily.
"I didn't say," I shook my head.
"You said it!"
"Didn't say"
"You said!!"
"Harry, did I say sothing?" I then turned to the boy next to .
Being suddenly added to the conversation Harry blinked in surprise. He then looked at , at Voldemort, and then back at .
It was obvious to him how irritated the Dark Lord was, and he could see that even though my expression was serious, there was still a glint of mischief in my eyes.
Harry knew that mocking the Dark Lord the way I was doing was dangerous and reckless, but it was also hilarious. And seeing the noseless wizard's growing irritation, he couldn't help but join in the fun too.
"No, you didn't," he replied, his lips twitching in amusent.
Hearing Harry's answer I nodded, before looking back at Voldemort, "See? I told you I didn't say" I looked at him with a smug expression.
This expression of mine caused a vein to pop on the Dark Lord's forehead.
I could then see the arm holding his wand begin to tremble slightly, with his hands gripping the handle of the magical item tightly, as if he wanted to take it and curse us.
And from the emotions I was picking up on from him, that was exactly what he was about to do.
"Wait!" I held up my hand to stop him, "Okay, I confess. I did say nuh-uh to you… But that's only because I won't be able to accept your invitation."
"And why, Night, won't you be able to accept my invitation?" Voldemort asked through gritted teeth, struggling to control his anger.
"Well, first of all, it's the clothes. Nothing personal, but this dark gothic look doesn't really suit my style. And those skull masks? Totally outdated," I began to say.
"And second, it's your friendship tattoos... They're cool and all, but snakes aren't my favorite animals. And my mom would kill if she saw with a tattoo before I turn 18."
"These... These are the reasons you won't join ?" the Heir of Slytherin asked, half incredulously and half infuriated.
"Oh no, those are just a few reasons," I shook my head, "The main reason, actually, is that I've heard that the hiring benefits offered by your organization aren't as good as your competitors."
"And besides, the salary you're going to offer will definitely be too little for soone at my level," I shrugged.
"..."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"Are you kidding ?" Voldemort asked in a slow hiss, finally understanding—very belatedly—that I had been making fun of him all along.
His red eyes that stared at were shining brightly, and I could tell that he had reached the limit of his patience.
...
...
...
"...Nuh-uh?"
"Aargh! {Crucio}!"
End.
