"Taoist? Hahaha! Taoist!? Are you a disciple of the Taoist?"
As expected, when the voice inside heard Xu Fan was a "Taoist disciple," it burst into mad laughter, earth-shattering laughter that, even though far away and between strangers, clearly carried overwhelming hatred.
And this was precisely what Xu Fan wanted to see.
It was not Xu Fan seeking death; quite the opposite, the old ape loved slaughter, and with a cunning personality, it clearly wanted to kill Xu Fan, but deliberately rejected him outside the door, with deep aning that was intriguing.
Only by so angering the old ape could Xu Fan possibly glimpse a thread of life!
Clearly, Xu Fan's strategy worked, at least for now, it was successful. The laughter gradually diminished, and the terrifying pressure on Xu Fan instantly vanished, yet Xu Fan clearly felt that the faint lurking intent to kill was becoming more intense.
If there is one person the old ape hates most, it would certainly be Gu Fang of the Myriad Beasts Sect. But Gu Fang died a thousand years ago, so that target had quietly shifted, and the Taoists, who always regarded the Beast Taming art as theirs, would not let go of this Spiritual Beast, the old ape.
Therefore, a thousand years ago, the Taoists must have had a conflict with the old ape! And the reason the old ape had been trapped in this place for a thousand years likely had ties with the Taoists!
Such a millennium-old grudge surely cannot be explained simply, hence the voice in the monastery, after a bout of laughter, fell into an eerie silence like the darkest mont before dawn or the calm before a storm.
This kind of calm can drive a person crazy! Especially knowing what kind of presence is inside the monastery!
Nonetheless, Xu Fan remained calm.
At this mont, Xu Fan had completely cald down, his mind racing to dissolve the predicant he faced.
Xu Fan ca to the forbidden place to confront the old ape, a choice he made, not for exorcising demons nor for righteous ideals, but to beco stronger! After all, once out of the relic, a fierce battle was inevitable! Rather than staying idle inside the relic, why not et this old ape that had lived for at least a thousand years!
Therefore, Xu Fan could maintain such composure, everything already ticulously analyzed. The old ape indeed wanted to kill him, but after being trapped for a thousand years, Xu Fan did not believe the old ape didn't desire freedom or sothing else.
These were not sothing the old ape could get from killing Xu Fan, its words confirming Xu Fan's suspicions, all the talk of suppressing demon beasts and leaving quickly were nonsense!
Xu Fan deliberately angered the old ape as a probe, as long as the old ape bore it this ti, it must have plans for Xu Fan!
If the old ape didn't bear it, Xu Fan was still so distance away, with all cards revealed and bursting forth with all strength, there was still a glimr of survival.
Ti slowly passed.
Xu Fan remained silent, standing quietly.
Inside the monastery, the silence was frightening, not even the slightest insect sound, even the usually mischievous little golden monkey was quiet now, only heavy and oppressive breathing sound, faintly erging, occasionally from inside.
"So, you are a Taoist disciple."
From the monastery, the familiar voice finally erged again, but now turned extraordinarily calm, a stark contrast to before!
"Little one, don't misunderstand, I got a bit excited when chatting with you earlier, exploited by the Demon Beast. It took so ti, but now I've suppressed the Demon Beast again."
"Since you are a Taoist disciple, you have so connection with my Buddhist Sect, why don't you co in."
Xu Fan did not believe a word of this explanation.
Let alone Xu Fan who had everything figured out, even an ordinary person seeing soone laughing madly suddenly turning into a high monk, would undoubtedly suspect sothing.
Therefore, Xu Fan deliberately expressed his doubt, "Senior? The Buddhist Sect and my Taoists are actually connected? And... didn't you say earlier that there was nothing here for ?"
Hahaha!
The monastery echoed with laughter again, but this ti, the laughter was friendly, even affable, like a spring breeze.
"Little one, you worry too much. Taoist and Buddhist Sects are both sects of Huaxia, committed to exorcising demons, eliminating evil, and protecting the Dao!"
"Just now, didn't you say you ca to suppress demon beasts? Why retreat now?"
Hearing these words as pleasant as spring breeze, Xu Fan did not relax at all but instead heightened his caution to the extre!
Whether it's the old ape's endurance or its cunning provocation, both were chilling. Anyone ignorant rushing in would likely be devoured by this old ape, leaving no bones.
However, Xu Fan had long made up his mind, naturally wouldn't retreat now.
"Senior is worrying too much. As righteous people, how can we be scared off by evil demons and sinister spirits?"
"Demon beasts vary. I never kill innocent exotic beasts recklessly, but regarding golden apes like the one that destroyed sects a thousand years ago, I'd kill each one I co across!"
After coldly stating, Xu Fan stepped forward boldly, still full of righteous indignation while secretly using his Divine Sense to capture changes.
Sure enough, when Xu Fan ntioned the golden ape, the nearly dissipating murderous intent in the air suddenly fluctuated.
Entering the monastery, everything was silent and cold, the surroundings incredibly simple. Oddly, though no one guided Xu Fan, it seed an unseen voice was directing him, Xu Fan almost instinctively headed towards a small hall door.
Pushing open the hall door, inside, a blue lamp, a Buddha statue, a pair of wooden fish, two ditation cushions, an old monk.
The old monk sat with his back facing Xu Fan, slowly striking the wooden fish, chanting as if reciting scriptures, while Xu Fan, mildly surprised by everything in the hall, soon regained his calm, standing silently at the door watching the old monk's back.
After a long while, the old monk finally stopped chanting and set down the wooden fish without rising, only calmly spoke a word with his back to Xu Fan.
"Sit."
Two ditation cushions, one in front and one behind, evidently well-prepared. Yet, who knew how long these had been ready, the other cushion covered in thick dust.
Xu Fan, unhurried, walked to face the old monk, brushed the dust away with his sleeve, sat on the cushion.
