"Hmm, got it, you can go now."
Xia Hengzhou wore an authoritative expression as he watched the man in black close the door and walk away. Then he returned to his prior deanor, paying no heed to the blood-red words "Xu Fan, personally opened" on the invitation. He casually tore open the invitation, holding a note inside, and clicked his tongue in wonder.
"Hey! Old man! Didn't you see that it's for ? You don't care for the young, yet expect to respect the elderly?" Xu Fan couldn't stand Xia Hengzhou's schadenfreude look and snatched the invitation back.
The content of the invitation was simple, ntioning that it had been a long ti since they last t and expressing how much they had missed Xu Fan. It stated that upon hearing of Xu Fan's arrival in the West, an invitation was specially sent to share drinks in a convivial gathering.
At first glance, the invitation seed perfectly normal. However, the na signed at the bottom was none other than four words with whom Xu Fan had a blood feud: Nash, the Marquis!
The implication was self-evident.
Xia Hengzhou sarcastically added with schadenfreude, "A Marquis-level powerhouse's invitation is a rarity! As expected of young Xu, wherever you go, storms brew and mountains crumble."
Hmph! Xu Fan snorted coldly, flicking his hand lightly, the note in his hand turning into ashes.
The aning was clear; a re Marquis was nothing to Xu Fan.
This left Xia Hengzhou stunned, glaring at Xu Fan, "Kid! Do you know what you're doing? These vampires care most for face, and destroying their note is as good as slapping them in the face, completely offending everyone under the Demon Lord's command!"
Xu Fan sneered dismissively, "Old man, please. If tearing up a re note offends the Demon Lord to death, then the Demon Lord wouldn't have ti for anything else, probably splitting in half just to keep track of who offended him!"
In Xia Hengzhou's dictionary, there seed to be no word for embarrassnt. He did not respond to Xu Fan's ridicule, rely chuckling, "Not the Taoist Master's n, nor the Demon Lord's n, then only the Buddha Lord and the Green Lord remain."
Xu Fan stood up directly and decisively headed for the door.
This old guy was always plotting against him. If he kept hanging around him, he wouldn't take long before he was exposed!
"Hey! You're really going? The Dark Council folk are lunatics! They say they invite you to a feast, but don't be surprised if you're the dish on the dining table!" Xia Hengzhou loudly reminded, sounding sowhat schadenfreude.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure to sell you out clean before I die!" Xu Fan's voice drifted back, but he was already far away.
"That brat!" Xia Hengzhou's lips curled with a helpless smile, but then a more serious thought occurred, turning his smile cold. "Not the Taoist Master, not the Demon Lord, not the Green Lord. That leaves only one, the Buddha Lord. Yet the kid's style isn't like the Buddha Lord. Strange..."
In the room, Xia Hengzhou muttered to himself, sunlight from the window casting an uncertain light on his face.
…
Holding the invitation, Xu Fan stepped out of Xia Hengzhou's lair. He glanced back in Xia Hengzhou's direction, finally allowing his tense body to relax slightly.
Xu Fan had anticipated that his father-in-law's identity would be extrely complex, but he hadn't expected it to extend to such a degree! The powerful forces behind him even reached into Immortal Emperor-level rivalries! In front of Xia Hengzhou, Xu Fan had to be on full alert, not daring to show any slack.
Fortunately, even though his father-in-law was cunning, there were things he didn't know. As such, as long as he kept Xia Hengzhou in the dark and displayed his strength, it would actually aid Xu Fan's plans.
As for the so-called cooperation Xu Fan ntioned earlier, it was just nonsense. The disparity in power was too great; cooperation was tantamount to courting death! If Xia Hengzhou uncovered Xu Fan's true details, both Xu Fan and Chu Le'er, along with Black Dragon and others, would face enormous risks.
"Father-in-law, you walk your broad road, and I'll cross my single-plank bridge. Let's hope neither of us gets in each other's way, or else..."
Xu Fan gazed deeply in Xia Hengzhou's direction before turning and striding off in another direction.
It's not that Xu Fan bears grudges, but when individuals reach their level, even if they personally wish to back down, the folks backing them wouldn't agree.
…
The invitation contained an address, and Xu Fan quickly found himself outside a manor while following it.
Inside the manor, servants carried delicacies with the consistency of flowing water to a courtyard, laden with exquisite cuisines, fine wines, and enticing aromas.
In the courtyard, glasses clinked and important figures drank heartily, the atmosphere rich with the sense of celebration, as enticing red wine sloshed vibrantly in their glasses.
Apparently, this was where the so-called feast was being held.
"Tsk tsk, these bats sure know how to enjoy themselves," Xu Fan muttered, holding the invitation and boldly stepping into the manor unaccompanied.
No one blocked his path inside the manor; not even a single guard was in sight. The maids bowed as Xu Fan passed, with a fair maid of around seventeen or eighteen leading the way.
"Hmm? These bats have certainly changed their tune."
Xu Fan bore a deep blood feud with Nash, the Marquis. Considering the Marquis's temperant, it's generous enough not to have attacked him outright. Yet now, an invitation was extended, and they truly wanted to treat him to a fine feast?
The manor's winding paths were deep and winding, akin to a gaping maw waiting for a prey to fall into a trap. Most would feel their legs weaken here, not daring to step forward. Yet Xu Fan was not among most people.
"Who cares about their tune. In the face of absolute strength, they're all rubbish!" Fearless, Xu Fan calmly followed the maid into the depths of the manor.
Ha ha ha!
Peals of laughter t Xu Fan as he reached the courtyard, where the important figures raised their glasses in mirth as if they hadn't noticed Xu Fan's arrival.
The maid behind retreated with a bow, seemingly completing her task.
The delicacies spread across the table emitted enticing fragrances, yet the important figures hadn't touched any. In front of them, plates held sothing bloody and ssy, seemingly the heart of so animal.
The crystal glasses brimd with vibrant red, with the important figures sipping rrily, their faces aglow with pleasure.
Suddenly, Xu Fan's pupils contracted slightly, realizing the glass's contents were rich with blood—human blood!
Xu Fan imagined all sorts of traps Nash, the Marquis, might set for him at this supposed feast but hadn't anticipated the sight before him.
"Damn bats! As expected, there's no such thing as a good feast! In that case..."
Bang!
The banquet table was violently kicked over, sending the closest Blood Clan mber flying, Xu Fan's foot landing heavily on his chest, piercing through his heart.
