The church was enormous, with the front reserved for followers to pray and kneel, while the real Church of Light lay behind, sprawling with its dieval Central and European architecture, which had its own unique style.
Xu Fan was eager to et Xia Xiaodie and the others, but couldn't openly state his purpose, so he had to let this Church of Light guard lead him around the courtyard leisurely.
As he strolled aimlessly, Xu Fan chatted casually with the guard, trying to extract information about Xia Xiaodie and the others. "Xiao Ya, centuries ago, your Church of Light was a force that could rival the Dark Council, why have you suddenly beco so low-key now?"
Gathering intelligence couldn't be direct; one had to start with small talk and then casually bring up the needed information.
Unexpectedly, as soon as Xu Fan started, the guard nad Adam spoke passionately, "Sir, don't be fooled by our Church of Light's low profile; our strength is formidable. If we were to directly confront the Dark Council, our chances are at least fifty-fifty."
"Sir, I'm not speaking without basis. Besides the Pope and the five Archbishops, in the younger generation, our Church of Light has a Guard Captain, Matthew, who can surpass the Dark Council. Let alone Princess Wei'er, she's a prodigy! It's just that the Pope has strictly ordered us not to have too much contact with external forces, whereas the Dark Council is arrogant, oppressive, and commits all manners of evil, creating a false impression that our Forces of Light are weaker than the Dark Council."
When Adam ntioned Matthew and Avril, his face showed clear admiration, but when talking about the Dark Council, he gritted his teeth, casting a subconscious glance at Jiang Quan standing behind Xu Fan.
Xu Fan smiled and nodded, while Jiang Quan wore his disdain openly.
It wasn't that Jiang Quan couldn't forget the Dark Council, but rather that he knew it too well, more than Adam who was clearly limited in knowledge.
What was the Dark Council? It was a force comprised of the Blood Clan! The Blood Clan had nine council mbers and a Speaker, directly overpowering the Church of Light's Pope and the five Archbishops! Their elite power outright crushed them; how could it be fifty-fifty?
The notion that the younger generation of the Forces of Light could surpass the Dark Council was simply absurd.
The Blood Clan, with their substantial longevity, could easily live for over a millennium! This ant a century-old Blood Clan mber was rely like a ten-year-old human child! Comparing a twenty-year-old Blood Clan to them was like comparing an adult to a toddler; there's no comparison!
The crucial point is, if the Church of Light were more powerful than the Dark Council, how could they remain so low-key? They even painstakingly planted an Archbishop as an undercover agent in the Dark Council. And why would the Dark Council be so arrogant?
What Adam said was just self-deception.
Of course, Xu Fan understood this, but he had longer-term plans. Both were superpowers connected to the previous era, and Xu Fan had no intention of entering their fray, at most he'd lend the Church of Light a helping hand because they took care of Xia Xiaodie.
Smiling, Xu Fan was about to speak, indirectly probing about Xia Xiaodie's situation, but unexpectedly Adam suddenly burst into anger.
From a young age, Adam was imbued with the Church of Light's philosophy, viewing them and the Dark Council as mortal enemies. He was already disgruntled by Jiang Quan, and when discussing such a sensitive topic, Jiang Quan displayed such disdain that Adam couldn't hold back any longer. Had it not been for understanding Xu Fan was an important figure, Adam would have drawn his sword to purify this vile Blood Clan long ago!
Furious, Adam pointed at Jiang Quan, visibly agitated, "What do you an, Blood Clan? Showing such an expression, do you look down on our Church of Light?"
Jiang Quan, being a Blood Slave, despised the Blood Clan just as much, if not more, for destroying everything he had, but his aura made him equally dislike these Church of Light people. Especially upon entering their lair, Jiang Quan was already agitated. Had Xu Fan not saved his life, he wouldn't have co to such a place.
Looking at Adam with contempt, Jiang Quan snorted coldly, "Frog at the bottom of the well!"
Admittedly, Jiang Quan had the right to be disdainful; in the Dark Council, he was guided by the old man in the black robe, imrsing himself for over a decade. Naturally, his vision was beyond what a re guard of the Church of Light could compare to.
"Outrageous! You, a re Blood Clan, dare to disrespect my Church of Light!" Adam, furious, drew his Broad Sword, pointing it at Jiang Quan, as white Holy Light poured over.
Within the Church of Light, Jiang Quan's aura was already volatile. Stimulated by the Holy Light, his blood heat burst forth, the scene instantly turning tense and confrontational.
Xu Fan hadn't anticipated that his covert probing for so intelligence would lead to such a commotion, feeling both headaches and so dissatisfaction towards the Church of Light.
In the Dark Council, he strutted unchallenged, even the Speaker had to maintain proper decorum before him. That the Church of Light's re gatekeeper dared to brandish weapons in his face, if not for Avril's sake, he would have demanded they move their nest.
Thinking of Avril and Xia Xiaodie, Xu Fan quickly suppressed the urge to turn this Church of Light's nest into ruins, sternly facing Jiang Quan to reprimand, "We are guests visiting the Church of Light, and should not be disrespectful to our hosts."
"Hmph!" Jiang Quan coldly snorted, finally suppressing his rebellious blood aura, turning away coldly.
Seeing Jiang Quan's defiant attitude, Xu Fan felt another wave of helplessness. After rescuing Jiang Quan, Xu Fan hesitated whether to tell Jiang Quan everything about Jiang Wu, that his brother never gave up on him, even entrusting Xu Fan with the responsibility of finding his brother before he died.
But looking at Jiang Quan's pale complexion, Xu Fan ultimately chose not to speak; soone trapped in a dark prison for over a decade couldn't endure such a heavy blow.
Let the past drift away with the wind. It's not so bad for him.
After chastising Jiang Quan, Xu Fan turned around, politely saying to Adam, "This friend of mine is not a Blood Clan, he was captured by the Blood Clan in his youth and hates them to the bone. His previous words were not intended to offend."
At Xu Fan's current level, he wouldn't bother with a re guard.
Simply put, if Xu Fan were to take sothing seriously, it would be with soone like the Pope, not a re guard who had no right to warrant Xu Fan's concern.
However, Xu Fan didn't anticipate that upon hearing his words, Adam would suddenly look at Jiang Quan with contempt, "Blood Slave? Why don't you just go and die?"
