"Actually, no one asked you to do these things," Manuel Ink reminded her.
"I enjoy it," Sumr Sutton responded matter-of-factly, not even looking at him.
Isn’t this expected?
She stayed with the Ink Family; she couldn’t just eat, live, and take such expensive dicine for free, right?
What’s more, the Ink Family had no relation to her and owed her nothing.
She wanted to do it, and Manuel didn’t insist on stopping her.
If she didn’t do anything, she’d probably be quite bored in this house, wouldn’t she?
Manuel Ink stared at her for a while and suddenly asked, "Do you want to go back?"
Sumr Sutton fell into a brief silence after his question.
Manuel Ink thought she should want to.
Unexpectedly, after a long pause following his question, Sumr Sutton shook her head, "It’s nice here, grandpa is amusing, and everyone is great."
"Really?" Her words caught Manuel Ink noticeably by surprise.
Cautiously, he asked again, "Do you like it here?"
Sumr Sutton didn’t directly answer his question. Instead, she looked out the window and said, "The Ink Family is beautiful, with many fresh and never-before-seen things, interactions with soone like grandpa make every day exciting."
Manuel Ink hesitated and quietly watched her, his dark eyes seed to shimr with a faint warmth following her words.
Sumr Sutton kept her head down and continued tidying up the living room.
When her face drooped, her gaze dimd for a mont, but quickly returned to normal.
Actually, she could guess the purpose behind Manuel Ink’s question.
He was such a good person that if she wanted to leave, he would probably ignore Old Master’s wishes and send her off, wouldn’t he?
Since she t him, he had never forced her to do anything she didn’t want to do!
Sumr Sutton didn’t not want to go back, but the Ink Family didn’t owe her anything.
On the contrary, if she took the herbs away, she would owe the Ink Family a lot.
And she didn’t like owing any favors...
Old Master Walyon was in the garden, carefully tending the flower bed that Sumr Sutton had ssed up while stealing herbs.
His every action was filled with care, as if he was treasuring a precious gem.
Sumr Sutton glanced toward his direction, and seeing him like that made her feel even more uneasy.
Lowering her face, she tidied up the living room a few tis and was ready to go upstairs. As her eyes swept toward Manuel Ink, Sumr Sutton looked at him.
"Sun... I..." She hesitated, as if trying to say sothing.
"Speak," Manuel Ink set down the notebook in his hand and slowly lifted his face.
Sumr Sutton knew the Ink Family’s rules; anywhere Manuel Ink was present, communication devices would be banned.
However, she still wanted to try.
She’d been gone for eight days already, and if she didn’t call back to her country, things would likely beco chaotic there!
Sumr Sutton took a deep breath and looked up, her eyes eting his as she observed his reaction, "Could I borrow your phone to make a call ho?"
Manuel Ink seed montarily stunned by her request, leading him into a silence.
"I won’t disclose any information; you can listen in beside !" Sumr Sutton knew what his concerns were and quickly reassured him.
She thought it would be hard to convince him, and while waiting for his response, her mind had even organized a bunch of words.
Unexpectedly, Manuel Ink just thought for a mont before handing the phone to her.
His action left Sumr Sutton montarily speechless.
