Watt didn’t linger in the living room for long; he turned and headed upstairs.
Just as he was stepping onto the spiral staircase, Sophie suddenly blurted out, "Your actions remind of my brother!"
Watt’s back stiffened, and he stopped in his tracks.
This child is so perceptive.
Does he actually understand everything?
Sophie was watching him, her eyes sparkling brightly.
Watt turned his head, his gaze slowly eting hers. He stared at her quietly for a while before faintly saying, "Too bad I’m not."
Sophie was still a child, too young to be sure if she could keep a secret.
Watt’s words were carefully considered before being spoken.
Clearly disappointed by his words, Sophie’s gaze dimd almost instantly.
"Sleep well, and from now on, you’re allowed to call Brother Watt." After leaving her with these words, Watt slowly continued upstairs.
Sophie watched his back for a long, long ti, not looking away even after he had disappeared.
Earlier in the car, when Watt heard about Adrian’s child being gone, Sophie had been certain that he was Adrian.
However, he had denied it with his own words.
Now, Sophie was becoming uncertain...
When Watt returned upstairs, Sumr Sutton had just finished tidying the sheets.
He closed the door behind him, locked it, and strode over to her, pulling her into his arms. Watt lowered his face and kissed her in the nook of her neck, then picked her up and headed for the bed.
"Have you settled Sophie?" Sumr Sutton asked.
Watt responded with a hum, focused on kissing her.
Sumr Sutton thought he would proceed imdiately, but instead, after kissing her passionately for a while, he fell heavily onto the bed, pulling her into his embrace.
Holding her tightly, he embedded her deeply into his body.
"Sumr, it’s wonderful that you’re still here..."
His words seed inexplicable, without any preamble or explanation, and for a mont, Sumr Sutton didn’t understand what he ant.
She paused and waited quietly for him to continue.
"When the whole world thought I was gone, only you were still waiting for ..." He murmured to himself, his face buried in her neck.
She might never know how happy he was when, eting her for the first ti as Watt, she chased after him from the banquet.
She might also never know how moved he was during the days he was in a coma after the accident, almost giving up on himself, and seeing her so steadfastly believing he would return.
If it weren’t for Sumr Sutton checking into his world, with his disposition, during such a long ti without completing his plans, he would probably live alone every day in loneliness and darkness.
But with her by his side, now everything is different.
The life they have together now is no different from when he was Adrian.
Sumr Sutton brought him love, warmth, and the warst sunlight in the world.
Sumr Sutton listened quietly as he finished speaking, feeling particularly emotional.
She raised her hand gently, holding his hand.
He really didn’t want to hide everything, living alone, did he?
Sophie’s arrival, being able to see his closest kin, he was actually happy, wasn’t he?
Turning her body towards him, Sumr Sutton pulled down his face, kissed him lightly on the lips, then looked at him.
"No matter what happens in the future, I hope you won’t keep it from . In any situation, I’ll be with you to face it, okay?"
