Adrian arrived at the airport past eleven.
At this hour, there weren’t many people coming and going at the airport.
Outside the lobby at the waiting area, a tall figure stood in the dark of night.
Adrian saw the man from a distance and drove over, parking beside him.
The man outside the car saw his face and gave a gentle smile.
He exuded a subtle coolness, and when he smiled, it was like the slow lting of winter snow, extrely pleasant to look at.
"Welco back!" Adrian got out and fist-bumped him.
This was their way of greeting each other, from childhood through adulthood, thoroughly masculine.
"Yeah." Ryan smiled at him and bent to get into the car.
Adrian followed him into the car and drove him back to the Walyon Family’s estate.
Ryan was Adrian’s second uncle’s son, born just a month apart from Adrian, and the two had always shared a strong bond.
In recent years, Ryan had been abroad managing the family business and only returned once every few years.
Diana knew the brothers were close, so she called Adrian, asking him to personally pick Ryan up.
The Walyon Family was particularly lively tonight because of Ryan’s return to the country.
Despite it being past eleven, the Old Master had arranged a banquet, and the whole family gathered together, cheerfully enjoying a reunion dinner.
"Ryan, you’ve worked hard abroad all these years, why not stay now that you’re back!" the Old Master declared.
"Alright." Ryan responded to him.
"There are quite a few vacant positions in the family company. Tomorrow, let Adrian arrange sothing for you." the Old Master continued.
"I’ll do whatever Grandpa suggests." Ryan grinned.
The family then chatted about many things, discussing Ryan’s life abroad, the company, and family matters.
After Adrian brought Ryan to the Walyon Family ho, he stayed inside for hours on end.
The family gathering concluded past one.
It was too late by then for him to return to Sutton Gardens, so he spent the night at the Walyon Family’s place.
...
Sutton Gardens.
Tonight was the most restful night Sumr had since moving in here.
Without Adrian around, there was no need to worry about him coming in at any mont or to use all her wit to spar with him. Having the two-ter-wide bed entirely to herself, she slept comfortably, exactly as she wished. Sumr had an exceptionally good sleep tonight.
So comfortable, in fact, that she was still asleep past eight the next morning.
She woke up to a child’s voice suddenly echoing in the room.
"Hmm?" The voice was full of curiosity, still carrying the innocence of youth.
The sunlight was a bit dazzling; Sumr raised her arm to shield her eyes and turned over, waking up.
When she opened her eyes, she ca face to face with a child’s face.
An eight or nine-year-old boy, with small hands behind his back — assuming a grown-up posture, staring at her intently.
He was very close to her face, almost as if he wanted to see her pores clearly.
Sumr’s gaze moved around, looking behind him. She didn’t see anyone else in the room. She paused for a mont, and her gaze returned to his face.
"Kid, which family are you from? Don’t you know you shouldn’t just enter a girl’s room?"
"Just you, huh?" The little boy was full of disdain for her words, his eyes scanning her body wrapped in a blanket, and he leisurely retorted, "You have anything worth seeing?"
Though young, his words were rather cutting.
Sumr was taken aback for a few seconds, then raised her hand to pat his head, "Little rascal, what do you know?"
