The fallen sand and stone ford a small hill at the spot where Adrian Walyon’s car had just been.
If Adrian’s car had reacted a fraction of a second slower, the result wouldn’t just be the car being crushed, but both car and man being buried alive!
Adrian turned his head to look at the car behind him.
The truck driver was slumped over in the vehicle, seemingly unconscious.
Adrian was rushing to bring food ho to Sumr Sutton, afraid that if he returned late, she would be worried waiting for him. He didn’t get out of the car to check the situation.
Instead, he planned to let the traffic police handle it and go to the police station to find out more tomorrow.
Without lingering, Adrian quickened his speed and continued driving toward the Walyon Family’s residence.
...
Since Adrian left, Sumr Sutton never felt at ease.
Tonight, her unease was particularly strong, and Sumr didn’t know where it was coming from. The mont Adrian left the villa, she naturally felt this way.
Unable to wait in the living room any longer, when one o’clock ca and Adrian hadn’t returned, Sumr opened the villa door, intending to go out and find him.
Unexpectedly, as soon as the door opened, Adrian arrived back.
Seeing her about to go out, Adrian froze for a mont, "What’s wrong? Did I keep you waiting too long?"
Sumr Sutton lifted her face to scrutinize him up and down, relieved when she didn’t find any traces of injury on him.
"I brought the wontons back, but spilled so," Adrian said, raising the food box regretfully.
The road from the Walyon estate to the wonton shop was all flat, without any slopes.
Adrian was a ticulous person and wouldn’t have let anything spill like that.
Sumr Sutton just glanced at the wontons, now only half left, and deduced that he must’ve gone through sothing to end up like this.
Since Adrian left, she had been uneasy for so long, and seeing him like this indirectly proved Sumr’s unease wasn’t unfounded.
Sumr didn’t ask what happened, but instead tiptoed and hugged him tightly, "It’s okay, it’s okay, as long as you ca back."
She hugged him so tightly, crashing into his embrace, fearing he might disappear if she blinked.
Adrian stiffened slightly, not understanding the reason for her sudden action.
Does this world truly have such a thing as telepathy?
Sumr held him for a while, hugging tightly without wanting to let go.
Adrian awkwardly raised his hand to gently pat her back, intending to comfort her, yet suddenly felt a chill on the back of his hand.
Adrian paused for a few seconds, his hand slowly moving up along Sumr’s body, finally landing on her face.
The dampness in his palm suddenly flustered him, and at that mont, his heart softened as if it began lting.
"Sweetheart, I’m fine, I’m fine. See, I ca back well, just went out to buy sothing." Adrian comforted her, his voice soft and soothing.
Not wanting Sumr to worry too much, he didn’t ntion anything about what had just happened.
Sumr buried her face in his shoulder, wiping her face, then lifted her head, giving him a slight smile, "I just haven’t seen you for an hour, and missed you."
Normally, hearing this would make Adrian’s heart lt.
But tonight, these words only filled Adrian with tender pain.
