Old Master Winslow was very happy to hear such words. Though he didn’t answer after the guests asked, he smiled so wide that his mouth couldn’t close.
Sumr Sutton was staring at Watt Bennet, indifferent to what the Winslows were thinking. She only cared about how Watt would handle this issue.
Sumr Sutton knew Adrian Walyon’s way of handling things.
If it was the Adrian of the past, he would absolutely defend their marriage in any situation, and as soon as a woman tried to get involved with him, he would imdiately distance himself.
Sumr Sutton’s heart was tightly gripped, her nerves strained with Watt’s silence.
However, after waiting for half the day, Watt said nothing.
Such behavior from him shattered Sumr Sutton’s heart like glass smashed to the ground.
Lily Winslow was overjoyed.
She had been worried that Watt would publicly clarify that he didn’t like her, which would be so embarrassing!
The Old Master wanted him to be the Winslow family’s son-in-law, and if he had been publicly refuted, where would the Winslow family put its face?
If everyone in Northtown knew that the Winslow family had tried to match her with Watt and was rejected, how could she ever face people again?
Even though Watt didn’t acknowledge this, his silence alone was enough courtesy to the Winslow family for Lily.
"Brother Watt, are you hungry? I’ll help you get sothing to eat." Without waiting for his response, Lily eagerly went to get food for Watt.
Sumr Sutton sat beside them, her face dark as the bottom of a pot.
She thought that recently, with him intervening in so many of her affairs and holding her hand earlier to ease her tension, he was indirectly acknowledging her identity.
But Watt’s current silence—she really couldn’t understand its aning.
Alexander Winslow was watching the whole scene. Such a Watt made him sigh lightly.
He was, after all, a sentintal person.
The reason for Watt’s recent silence was sothing only he understood...
Sumr Sutton felt as though there were a fire burning in her chest, her head spinning slightly.
Unable to sit still, she suddenly stood up and, without saying goodbye to Alexander, headed quickly toward the Winslows’ main gate.
"Leaving? I’ll see you off!" Alexander stood up, trying to follow her.
"No need," Sumr Sutton tossed back at him, quickening her pace.
She left in haste, feeling as if there were a fire burning overhead, with even her silhouette radiating heat.
Upon reaching the gate, she opened the car door, got in, and revved the engine.
Watt’s gaze followed in the direction she left, his eyes dazed for a long ti. He then downed his drink in one gulp.
After setting the glass aside, he, too, did not linger at the scene, slowly rolling his wheelchair out of the Winslows’ gate.
Lily Winslow beca a little flustered, running to chase after him, trying to stop him. "Brother Watt, leaving so soon? Why not stay a little longer?"
Watt slowly lifted his face, locking eyes with her. In the absence of Sumr Sutton, he spoke bluntly, "My connections with the Winslow family are only because Alexander helped . Beyond that, there’s no other possibility. Miss Winslow doesn’t need to waste her efforts on soone unattainable."
His words were a direct answer for Lily Winslow.
He was telling Lily that becoming the Winslow family’s son-in-law was absolutely impossible!
Lily Winslow stood rigidly where she was, her mind buzzing.
The hand she ant to support him with was left awkwardly hanging in mid-air.
