The na Lin Xiang is very common, with a high probability of people sharing the sa na.
But two people from Jisheng City, Mianyang Town who went to Town First Middle School and share the sa na, the probability is too low.
Last year, with the restoration of the college entrance examination, many cases of identity theft erged, and Huaqing University uncovered quite a few.
The teacher responsible for registration noticed sothing unusual, and would certainly not overlook it lightly.
Thus, in Director Wei’s office at the admissions office, Lin Xiang saw a long-lost acquaintance.
"Deng Jiaxin?"
Deng Jiaxin widened her eyes at Lin Xiang, filled with disbelief, stamring due to shock, "Lin... Lin Xiang? How are you here?"
"Isn’t it obvious? I’m here to attend university." Lin Xiang now understood the whole affair; it was Deng Jiaxin who intercepted her admission letter and intended to impersonate her for a university spot.
She rembered Yang Lihua saying that Deng Jiaxin’s father was so small official in the town governnt, making it relatively easy to intercept Lin Xiang’s admission notice discreetly.
Had Lin Xiang not detected the anomaly early and conveniently been in Beijing to explain the situation to Director Wei and get the admission notice reissued, she would have been helpless.
Director Wei’s gaze fell on Deng Jiaxin, "You call her Lin Xiang, then what is your na?"
"I’m also nad Lin Xiang!" Deng Jiaxin’s confidence wavered, "Yes, my na is Lin Xiang."
Director Wei continued, "She just called you Deng Jiaxin, and you’ve already responded?"
"Deng Jiaxin was my original na, but after starting high school, I changed to my mother’s surna, renad to Lin Xiang. But I’ve been accustod to the na Deng Jiaxin for over ten years, so I instinctively responded when she called that."
Deng Jiaxin praised herself inwardly.
Her explanation was brilliant; surely, Director Wei wouldn’t suspect!
Indeed, Director Wei didn’t raise any questions; he simply took out two sets of exam papers.
"Between the two of you, only one admission notice is genuine, which implies one of you is impersonating the other. To identify the impersonator, you need to complete this exam paper on the spot; the one with the higher score is the talent Huaqing University seeks."
Director Wei did recognize Lin Xiang; he personally issued and signed her subsequent admission notice.
Bringing out the previous exam paper would suffice to prove Lin Xiang’s innocence, but to avoid making the impersonator, Deng Jiaxin, realize her mistake, repeating this procedure was deed necessary.
Lin Xiang didn’t mind Director Wei’s arrangent; she took out a pen from her bag and started answering the questions, sitting at a desk in front of Director Wei.
This test paper was much simpler than the last one she answered; Lin Xiang didn’t even need scrap paper to calculate; a quick glance would suffice to fill in the correct answers.
Conversely, Deng Jiaxin just stood idle, holding the test paper, seemingly frozen.
Director Wei lightly tapped his knuckles on the table, "This student, the exam ti is limited. If you can’t complete the test within the allowed ti, we’ll determine you have impersonated soone, and you’ll have to leave our university."
Deng Jiaxin, having no other choice, gritted her teeth and started answering the questions.
What was easy for Lin Xiang was arduous for Deng Jiaxin; until Director Wei announced the end of the test ti, Deng Jiaxin had completed less than half of the test paper.
Director Wei took just about ten minutes to grade both exam papers and placed the graded exams in front of both of them.
"Your scores are drastically different, the real Lin Xiang is obvious."
"This student, no matter your first na, or what you changed it to later, based on your score, you aren’t the student Huaqing University wishes to admit. I hope you can voluntarily leave."
"If we take action, it will have significant negative repercussions for you; it’s wise to consider your choices."
Deng Jiaxin remained silent, only silently weeping.
Back in Mianyang Town, she fostered an arrogant and domineering attitude, relying on her father being a town governnt leader.
She wasn’t unaware of what shouldn’t be done, but she believed her father would always cover for everything, so she wasn’t afraid.
Upon arriving in Beijing, having seen the vast outside world, Deng Jiaxin realized her father’s influence was limited to their tiny patch in Mianyang Town; in Beijing, he was nobody.
Not to ntion herself.
Director Wei didn’t say anything harsh, yet Deng Jiaxin felt trendously wronged; she ran away with red eyes.
Director Wei didn’t care about Deng Jiaxin’s departure, he reminded Lin Xiang, "The current batch of students in the foreign language college doesn’t exceed three hundred in total, and most ca from other major failures and were transferred here. So, the pressure is imnse on you."
"However, I heard there’ll be a foreign language competition among major universities next spring in Beijing. The winner will get the opportunity to study abroad. Lin Xiang, I have great expectations for you; do strive hard."
"Thank you, Director Wei; I’ll try my best not to let you down."
After leaving Director Wei’s office, Lin Xiang returned straight to her dormitory.
The other five roommates were already back, and seeing Lin Xiang, they anxiously inquired, "Lin Xiang, are you okay?"
"Soone impersonated you, didn’t they? Can you still attend university?"
"I have relatives in the education bureau; if the school doesn’t recognize you, I can ask my relatives to help!"
Several roommates expressed their concern for Lin Xiang, even though they had only interacted for a brief half hour; Lin Xiang felt a warm comfort from their sincere care.
"Aren’t you afraid that I might be the impersonator?"
"Oh, stop it!" Beijing girl Zheng Miaoyue rolled her eyes at Lin Xiang, "I’ve seen your notebook full of foreign language notes on your desk. I’ve heard soone opted for the foreign language departnt this year with an outstanding high score, if nothing unexpected happens, that person must be you."
They don’t dare say, but all five of her roommates ended up choosing the foreign language departnt because their scores were insufficient for their preferred majors yet desired Huaqing University.
Before that, Wu Yan and Qian Miaomiao didn’t even know what foreign languages were; they couldn’t even speak Mandarin accurately, let alone learn foreign languages.
Against this backdrop, Lin Xiang having a notebook filled with foreign language notes, stood out distinctly.
Thus, Zheng Miaoyue was so confident.
