Mikoto finished her ablutions under the thin ribbon of water cascading from the rocks, the cool stream a stark contrast to the humid air. Steam drifted around her form, the rising mist mixing with the dim amber glow of the floor's massive ceiling-crystal. Satisfied, she stepped toward the onsen pool and called back softly over her shoulder, "Damien? You can co now. I'll be in the onsen, join once you shower!"
A mont later, Damien erged from between the lush, dungeon-forged trees. He shed his clothes and stepped under the makeshift waterfall, letting the water sluice away the gri and tension of the day. After a thorough rinse, he secured a towel around his waist, the humid heat brushing against his freshly cleaned skin like a warm blanket. The soft bubbling of the natural spring filled the clearing, and the scent of warm stone and mineral water was oddly soothing after everything they'd survived.
When he approached the pool's edge, the sight that greeted him sent a jolt through his system. Mikoto was already seated with her back against a smooth boulder, subrged to her waist. What shocked him, however, was that while she did have a towel secured around her lower body, her chest was completely bare above the waterline, her beautiful breasts fully on display in the steamy air. The casualness of her posture, the unashad exposure, was both startling and intensely alluring. A blush ward his cheeks, but, deciding not to comnt and potentially shatter the comfortable mood, he simply slipped into the water and relaxed on a boulder next to her.
"Ahhh... Isn't this Amazing?" Mikoto sighed, her voice a contented murmur. "This place saved so many tis. Whenever things got too overwhelming… I'd co here. A secret sanctuary in the middle of the Dungeon."
Damien smiled, leaning his head back and closing his eyes. "Yeah… it definitely feels unreal. An onsen… in the middle of Floor Eighteen. A lucky find."
"It was pure coincidence," Mikoto admitted with a small, lodic laugh. "Chigusa tripped over a vine, I went to help her, and we heard the water. Then Asuka realized the temperature wasn't normal. After that… well, we cleaned it up. Asuka used her healing magic to cleanse the water and well...We thought it would be nice to have a place that reminded us of ho."
"You three did a great job. It's peaceful. Makes it hard to believe there's monsters just a few dozen minutes away," Damien replied, the genuine appreciation clear in his tone.
"That's why I brought you here," Mikoto said gently, her gaze softening as it rested on him. "Soone who fights like you… you must have exhaustion built into your bones. So you deserve a little calm." Her eyes then trailed over his torso, noting the powerful definition visible even in the rippling water. "There's a lot of muscles on you.. Wouldn't have thought it so... When you were wearing your clothes... You seed a bit... thin."
He looked at her, surprised by her directness. She wasn't flustered or shy — just earnest and observational. A slow, teasing smile touched his lips. "You checking out now?"
Mikoto shrugged, a playful smirk gracing her features. "You were the one checking out my chest first.. So I had to retaliate!"
Damien chuckled, the sound rich and warm in the quiet space. "Honestly? Yeah. Sorry about that.... It's just.... Well... They're beautiful."
"I don't mind...." she said, her smirk softening into a smile. "Just make sure to tone it down when Asuka and Chigusa co here.... They might not mind, but I'll feel jealous!"
Damien laughed. "Oh wait, they'll join us?"
"Probably... I'm not sure... Asuka still has to take care of Ouka, so I'm not sure if she will co."
The two sat in comfortable silence, listening to the soft splash of the waterfall feeding the pool. Steam curled lazily upward, lit silver-white by the ceiling crystal far above. Mikoto finally spoke again, her voice softer, more introspective.
"You know… when you fought that Goliath alone, I thought I understood your strength. But then…" she hesitated, recalling the mont Igris and the others had risen from the shadows. "Those summons… Damien, that power is sothing extraordinary."
He exhaled slowly, droplets running down his cheek. "Yeah… it's complicated. Powerful, sure. But complicated."
"I won't speak of it," she reassured him, her tone firm and sincere as she placed a hand gently on the water's surface. "But I want you to know... seeing them didn't frighten . It made feel… safer. Because you command them with purpose, not cruelty."
Damien t her eyes, seeing only unwavering honesty. She really ant it. "Thanks, Mikoto."
She gave a tiny nod. "It's only the truth."
A quiet stretch followed — a symphony of warm water, soft breaths, and the distant, muted bustle from the camps far beyond the trees. Then Mikoto's lips curved into a thoughtful smile.
"When we return… my captain will insist we repay you sohow. Takemikazuchi-sama as well. So prepare yourself. Our familia's gratitude tends to be… enthusiastic."
Damien laughed, a genuine sound of amusent. "I think this bath is already paynt enough for ..." he said, his gaze holding hers with a warmth that made the steam feel cooler in comparison. "...especially with you here."
Mikoto's cheeks tinted the faintest, most becoming shade of pink, but she held his gaze and laughed as well, the sound blending with the gentle sounds of the spring. "Thank you."
