Godgrave was hot, infested with nightmare creatures, the disintegrating light of the sun always threatening all beings inhabiting it when the clouds parted.
Except for one area of the Zone…
One where shadows and darkness ruled eternally.
The Naless Temple stood on a hill, its presence followed by a night created by its ruler, the Heir of Shadows.
The roots of the Shadow of the Soul-Devouring Tree expanded throughout the entire artificial night, enthralling any bewitched by it and guiding them into the maw of the giant Shadow Fiend, originating from the garden of the Citadel of the head of the Shadow Clan.
Hollow Death sat on one of the branches of the vast shadow tree that covered the dark sky, dawning his uniform given to him by his teacher, observing his territory through the shadows. Beside him stood the Shadowkeeper, holding a tablet-like mory.
Godgrave would be the battlefield of the great Domain War between Valor and Song, so he decided to plant an initial foothold on the Death Zone. He still felt the whole war was foolish… But the King of Swords was too far gone, the best he could do was limit the casualties.
'The best we can do…'
Looking through his marks, he observed how his subordinates were doing.
The Naless Ghost was still inside his mist, deep in the underground of Godgrave, assassinating all creatures that dared venture into it.
Faceless Knight was clearing a nest of nightmare creatures with both Shadow Saints, his flas torched the entire cave system that the thralls of the Corrupted Tyrant used for travel. The caves would now be consud by shadows, and allow for the safe passage of the Song clan.
The Remnant of Ti and the Witch of the Dead had been in the waking world collecting information for the War and making sure the Governnt had no involvent, staying neutral in the conflict.
River of Lost Souls had been walking through the sands of Godgrave, indifferent to the abominations that attempted on her life. She and the Shadow Wraith beside her annihilated any that tried to.
The Arbiter of the Hunt, the Unyielding Destruction and the Shadow Slayer faced a Great creature with their destructive abilities.
Flying Aureus flew through the dark sky in her Transcendent form, the six-winged enormous fox made of living wind created terrifying hurricanes and storms by her presence alone.
Shadowkeeper was mapping all of Godgrave while standing right beside her leader, using the tablet in her hand as a conduit of her Aspect Ability in a condensed way. Absorbing information of the Shadow Watchers and her butterflies.
Hollow Death sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose, his incarnations were doing all sorts of things, being the son of Ki Song with a Transcendent ability as versatile and strong as his ca with its desavantages. His mind was in 8 places at the sa ti, and half of them were just dealing with his sister's shenanigans!
Sotis he wished his Transcendent form only ca with one of its applications.
"Seriously, if I have to help Moon with clothes one more ti… I am a Transcendent Titan for Spell's sake! And why does mother insist I use all 8 bodies at all tis? Do you know how tired I am…"
The woman beside him spoke next to him with a calming, tired voice.
"I am sure Lady Song knows my Lord."
"Of course she knows, she controls an entire army of different bodies at the sa ti."
"And you only have to deal with eight different bodies, I guess you are even."
Her sarcasm was not subtle, Hollow Death sighed again, then noticed sothing interesting. Turning to the Shadowkeeper with a dead-pan expression.
"When was the last ti you slept?"
Her usual calm facade paled, and she looked up from her tablet with an apparent nervous expression.
"W-What makes you say that…?"
"You are a Saint that doesn't fight, yet you sound tired, not to ntion the eyebags."
Being his assistant may be an active job, but he gave her plenty of breaks. The Shadowkeeper swallowed.
"M-Maybe… Two… Months…?"
"GO TO SLEEP!"
She yelped and nodded several tis before her body dissolved into multiple black butterflies with radiant blue wings.
'Seriously, I didn't know she was a workaholic when I recruited her... Now I have to remind her to rest.'
Hollow Death sighed… And began to talk with the other person present.
"What is it Cass?"
A voice resounded in his head.
[How's the progress?]
"Slow, but I'm close, having to balance killing nightmare creatures and letting them be lured to sleep by Nightmare is annoying… Having to compete with Mordret is also slowing things down."
A mont passed as Song of the Fallen seemingly sighed.
[What is it with you two competing in everything? It has been like that ever since Mirage City.]
Hollow Death sighed, laying down his massive Shadow, he reached out to the sky that was covered by the black leaves and flowers, the Soul-Devouring Tree reacted to its master's longing, and reached their own branches to him.
The Tree's small branches covered with black flowers made of shadows gently wrapped themselves on Hollow Death's arm.
The Shadow made him rember a close friend he once had…
"Maybe it's because I am his first real friend…"
"Who told you we are friends?"
Hollow Death's eyes twitched slightly, yet maintained a calm deanor, rising from his laid position, he t the young man that suddenly appeared in front of him.
The man had sharp features and dark raven hair, wearing a dark overcoat that hid his tal armor. But what was most striking was his eyes that seed to reflect the world like mirrors.
The Prince of Nothing.
"Nobody did Mordret, I thought it was implied."
The Prince of Nothing laughed and proceeded to walk to the edge of the tree. Observing the dark skies of the artificial night of Godgrave.
"Do you rember how we t? No, actually, do you rember how you t the first version of ''?"
Hollow Death raised an eyebrow at the question, but his flaw still forced him to answer.
"I rember almost killing you for threatening my girlfriend."
The Prince chuckled like rembering a fond mory, then looked at the Heir of Shadows straight in the eyes.
"You have a real weird way of making friends."
