"That’s terrifying," Enzo muttered as he looked back.

He had been journeying with Victoria for a while now. He had seen her fight against a range of ungodly monsters. But this was the first ti he had seen her go all out in battle and he had to say...

It was terrifying.

With just a single swing of her sword, she could release an all-shattering wave of sword light that would easily decapitate tens of monsters. Wherever she went, she brought death with her and an unstoppable destructive force.

It was like watching a planet-bulldozer rolling through a city of tall buildings.

"Eyes on the prize, kid; she can handle herself," Kara said playfully as she sped past Enzo, who had paused to look back.

"Hm." Seeing Kara move past him, he couldn’t help but sigh and turn back to his main target.

The sentient blood pool.

That thing gave off an ominous and dangerous glow, but it was also the key to everything... defeating it would bring forth the end of this dreadful nightmare.

Without a second word, he phased through a shadow in the ground and leapt into the air at the very edge of his boundaries.

Shadow step.

He no longer had any reservations. What lay in front of him was battle, a final close to this long journey, and he would succeed!

"That’s them."

Watching the two figures in the distance approach, a man with extended cuts on his cheek comnted. This was Windbery, one of the proposed people they were coming to ’save’.

"Ahhh, spoiling the fun," the old Dandan sneered, looking back at the figures as they approached with full speed.

He had previously been watching Victoria lay waste to the army of infected on the horizon. That girl was an absolute monster in combat... a one-woman army, to say the least.

"Hmp! Prepare yourself, old fool; this is not a joke — he’s strong," Windbery barked at the old man Dandan.

Enzo had ambushed him a while back when he let loose the beetle army on their group. He was a great warrior, which was a realm below what he was at the mont(Terror Rank), so he didn’t think much of it.

That was until Enzo nearly killed him in five moves...

The boy was a natural-born assassin, using the shadows to move swiftly like a bird and strike dangerously like a venomous snake. In a full frontal, he wasn’t sure who would win, but he was sure now more than ever that if Enzo were to catch him off guard—

He would be dead.

"Hehe, we’re like three. Calm down; he’s just a kid," Dandan replied.

They were most tis in sync due to the sentient blood, so he knew exactly what happened between Enzo and Windbery. He wasn’t downplaying it at all. Rather, he was just confident in their chances of killing him.

"You...." Windbery wanted to complain but was short of words; he was too embarrassed by the fact to even argue.

A few minutes later,

"Senior Dandan? You escaped?!" As soon as Kara approached the altar of the sentient blood, she noticed an old man with horns sprawled on the ground in a weakened state.

Imdiately she ran forward and tried to help him up, a look of worry on her face. Dandan was aged; his skin was shriveled and pale. An old man like this shouldn’t be anywhere near a place like this.

"Kara... you ca," the old man got up slowly with the help of Kara. He looked desperate to leave and also relieved to see Kara.

After being captured by those darn monsters, they had been treated like animals, caged and forced to watch the blood parasite grow stronger.

"Yes, where’s brother Windbery? Is he with you?" Kara asked hurriedly, panic written on her face as she looked around. If they could save the two, they would be able to get out of here without fuss.

This was their goal after all.

"Yes, he’s behind that rock over here... he’s badly injured, more so than . Go help him first," the old man said, pushing Kara toward a rock in the distance.

Hearing that, she looked up at Enzo and said, "Help Senior Dandan; I’ll go find Windbery and bring him over," haste filling her tone as she let go of the old man and slowly jogged to the rock in the distance.

However, she soon stopped halfway and looked back at Enzo.

"What are you standing around for? Help Senior Dandan!" she said with frustration.

The old man was bruised and beaten, he needed urgent attention. Enzo should be hurrying to help his elders up. That was the kind thing to do.

But she was t with a neutral expression on the face of Enzo as he looked at her in silence.

"Do you take for so sort of fool?" Enzo asked, looking at the spectacle in front of him with disgust.

It looked like a poorly written play more than anything else. Did these guys think he would fall for that?

"Shitheads! I told you that wouldn’t work." From behind the rock in the distance, a man with torn cheeks raised his head and pulled a bow in his hand.

Enzo knew, the gig was up; there was no need for such a farce. They had to kill him now!
