The news spread through the tea houses, the training grounds, and the market stalls like a wildfire. By late afternoon, the streets leading to the Jade Spring Hall were choked with people.

Commoners, rogue cultivators, and representatives from minor clans stood shoulder to shoulder, their faces a mixture of desperation and curiosity. Most bore the telltale signs of the Peng Clan’s failed alchemy, wan complexions, erratic Qi fluctuations, and the hollow eyes of those who feared their path to immortality had been permanently severed.

At the head office of the Hall, Shen Yu stood behind the heavy velvet curtains, flanked by Lixue and ng Yan. Both won were the picture of stoic elegance, though the subtle, shared glances toward Shen Yu betrayed a loyalty that went far deeper than clan politics.

"Look at them," Shen Yu whispered, his golden eyes piercing through a gap in the curtain. "They are starving for hope. And I am about to feed them a very expensive al."

"They will worship you for this, Yu’er," i Yilan said, stepping up beside him. Her voice was steady, but her pulse was quick. She knew that tonight, the Tang Clan wouldn’t just be a rchant power; they would beco the city’s heartbeat.

As the final rays of the sun dipped below the city walls, casting long, crimson shadows over the expectant mass, the signal was given. The grand doors of the Hall’s balcony creaked open, and the crowd fell into a deafening silence.

Shen Yu stepped out onto the elevated stage.

He wore a pure white attire with golden threadings that shimred under the spirit-lamps, making him look more like a young sovereign than a re cultivator. He stood at the edge of the railing, his presence subtly rippling outward, a silent, crushing reminder of his individual strength.

He scanned the sea of faces. He saw the anger directed at the Peng Clan, the fear of the toxins in their blood, and the raw hope pinned on his next words. A slow, warm smile spread across his face, a smile that was, to the public, a beacon of salvation, but to those who knew his heart, was the baring of a predator’s teeth.

He raised a single hand, and the world seed to hold its breath.

Shen Yu’s voice, amplified by his internal Qi, rolled over the crowd like a wave of thunder.

"Citizens of the city! Cultivators who have bled for your progress! I stand before you not as a rchant, but as a brother in the Dao who has seen your suffering..."

"I have walked these streets in the dead of night," Shen Yu continued, his voice dropping into a somber, resonant tone that seed to vibrate in the very chests of those listening. "I have seen brothers coughing up stagnant blood and sisters weeping as their cultivation bases crumble due to the tainted pills that promised them strength but delivered only poison!"

A low, painful murmur of agreent rippled through the crowd. One old rogue cultivator in the front row gripped his chest, his eyes shimring with tears as he nodded frantically.

"For weeks, my heart has known no rest," Shen Yu’s expression shifted to one of weary determination. "Besides my aunt, Matriarch i Yilan, we have spent countless sleepless nights within the alchemical chambers. We braved the backlashes of failed reactions, our hands stained with herbs and our spirits drained, driven by a single, agonizing question: Must our city fall because of one clan’s greed?"

i Yilan stepped forward, standing just behind him, her face a mask of dignified maternal concern.

"We were not alone," Shen Yu added, gesturing toward ng Yan. "The Jin Clan, led by Matriarch ng Yan, recognized this tragedy for what it was. They provided the rarest ingredients and the necessary support to ensure our research did not falter. Together, we have achieved the impossible."

He held up the jade bottle. The spirit lamps caught the swirling mist inside, making it glow like a captured star.

"I present to you the Impurity Purging Pill!"

"The Purging Pill!" soone shouted from the back. "Can it truly save us?"

"It can," Shen Yu declared, his voice rising in power. "But the corruption of the Peng Clan’s pills is like a rot in the bone. It cannot be washed away in a single day. To fully cleanse your ridians and restore your path to the Dao, one pill must be taken every month for a full year. Twelve months of healing to undo a lifeti of damage."

The crowd went silent, the weight of a year-long treatnt sinking in. Shen Yu sensed the hesitation and moved for the killing blow.

"I know what you think. You think of the cost. You think of the gold the Peng Clan has already bled from you." He paused, his eyes flashing with righteous fury. "Therefore, I have set the price at its absolute minimum, barely enough to cover the rare herbs provided by the Jin Clan. We do not seek profit from your pain! We seek only to restore the honor of our city’s cultivators!"

"He’s a saint!" a young woman cried out, her voice cracking. "The Tang Clan cares for us!"

The silence broke like a shattered dam.

"TANG CLAN! TANG CLAN!"

The chant started as a low rumble and escalated into a roar that shook the windows of the surrounding buildings.

"SHEN YU! THE SAVIOR OF THE DAO!"

"MATRIARCH YILAN! MATRIARCH NG YAN!"

The air was electric. Thousands of fists were raised in the air, a sea of people united in a singular, fanatical devotion. Behind the veil of his righteous mask, Shen Yu’s golden eyes caught the gazes of Lixue and ng Yan. The two won stood in the shadows of the balcony, their hearts racing not from the speech, but from the sheer, terrifying brilliance of the man they loved.

He had turned a city of victims into a private army of loyalists, and he had done it all while being thanked for the "sacrifice."

Shen Yu looked back at the chanting crowd, his smirk hidden by the bow he gave them, a predator bowing to the flock he was about to lead into a golden cage.
