But every deep night, she wanted to cry, wanting to lean on his broad chest and rely on him completely. Listening to his strong heartbeat gave her a sense of security, "Sis, I’m going up to check on the baby."
"Go on!" Sheng Ning crossed her arms, nodded warmly with a smile, but the instant she turned her head, the smile on her face froze. Tears quietly slipped from her eyes.
She stood foolishly in front of the display window, staring at the man outside the window. The kaleidoscope of neon lights on Broadway Street added more loneliness and restraint to his silhouette.
Sheng Ning reached out to wipe her tears, but the more she wiped, the more they ca, as if she was venting all the grievances she’d suffered over the past half-year.
She childishly pinched herself, it hurt a lot, but it was also so sweet. Suddenly, she laughed.
Tears in her eyes, yet she smiled so sweetly and blissfully.
Standing outside the window, Xu Qigang’s handso face was solemn, but the emotions in his eyes were so profound, intense, burning, and wild. Just one glance would drag soone deep within, never able to extricate themselves.
He slowly reached his hand out and pressed it tightly against the glass.
Sheng Ning also stretched out her hand at the sa ti, pressing against the glass, their right hands intimately joined through the transparent glass.
Suddenly, Xu Qigang perford an action that made her blush and her heart race.
He actually bent down to the spot on the glass where her palm was and left a deep, affectionate kiss. Even though separated by glass, it felt like it kissed the tip of her heart, gentle, fervent, and teasing.
"Xiao Ning." He called her na deeply.
Sheng Ning could no longer resist, quickly ran out, and threw herself into his broad embrace.
"Xu Qigang." Sheng Ning involuntarily called out his na, "Xu Qigang, Xu Qigang..."
"Xiao Ning, I’m sorry I ca late." Xu Qigang hugged her fiercely, wishing he could ld her entire being into his own body.
"I’m sorry, I’m so useless." On this journey, no one could understand the turmoil, self-bla, and hatred for his own helplessness inside his heart.
"Now that you’re here, it’s not too late."
"I’ve co, leave everything to !"
"Mm!" Sheng Ning proactively stood on tiptoe and kissed his slightly cool thin lips.
The two passionately kissed in the bustling Broadway Street, long forgetting everything around them, leaving only each other in the world.
"Bang..." A piercing gunshot rang out, and in a flash, Xu Qigang rolled with her to dodge the bullet flying from behind.
Sheng Ning suddenly awoke, a montary panic in her heart, her face turning pale.
"It’s okay, don’t worry, I’m here." Xu Qigang held her tightly in his arms, gently stroking her hair with one hand. With the other hand, he discreetly signaled towards the hidden position. Then he gently led her back up, and they stood together.
"Are you okay?" Sheng Ning looked around like a thief, afraid of so assassin or sneak attack from behind.
Xu Qigang involuntarily showed a pampering gaze, "It’s okay, I’m here, this ti I will absolutely not let you fall into danger."
"Oh!"
"I’m sorry, Xiao Ning." He repeated this phrase again, seeing his beloved little wife so anxious made his heart feel like it was being cut with a knife, bleeding profusely.
If it wasn’t for his carelessness, how could she have suffered so much?
"You don’t have to say sorry." She never felt that Xu Qigang owed her an apology.
