The date for the Foreign Mission’s return to China has been officially set. The Foreign Affairs Department over there received Su Hai’s notice, and the Northern District also received Su Hai’s notice.
"Why is it you notifying me? Where’s Xu Qigang?" Fan Hengyan’s eyebrows scrunched up. "Get Xu Qigang on the phone."
"Sorry, sir." Su Hai braced himself and explained, "President Xu is temporarily not available."
As soon as Fan Hengyan heard that, what was there left to not understand? "Heh heh heh..." He let out a cold laugh that made Su Hai’s heart start pounding.
Given Su Huili’s personality, hiding things and not reporting them is perfectly normal. But with Xu Qigang’s personality, if he dared to hide this, he’d probably get eaten alive when he got back.
Before leaving, he’d specifically reminded himself to report this.
"Enough, stop trying to cover for him. Besides, Qigang doesn’t need you to cover for him." Fan Hengyan knew his favorite officer inside out; he never doubted his character or the way he handled things.

"How many people did he bring?"
"He only took Renault. Ying Jie rushed over overnight yesterday."

"Sir, who else could it be if not Qin Yue? It’s not like you don’t know—ever since Meng Fan died, Xu Qigang’s had this knot in his heart, always blaming himself for being one step too late back then. So this time there’s no way he’s giving up on Qin Yue." After saying that, Su Hai still felt it wasn’t enough and added, "Even if Qin Yue stabbed him once."
"So that gives him the right to disobey orders?"

"Reporting, sir."

"Sir, you called us over—what’s the urgent matter?" Meng Xingzhi took the lead and asked.
"Xingzhi, I need you to pull a squad and have them stationed at the border." Fan Hengyan pointed to a spot on the map. Shen Feihu’s eyes went wide. "Isn’t this the spot where we picked up Qigang last time?"
"That’s right. The mission’s the same this time. Feihu, you lead the team personally."
"Huh?" Shen Feihu’s mouth opened so wide you could stuff a duck egg in it. "Isn’t Qigang in Country M? What the hell are we going there to pick up?"
He hadn’t finished the sentence before Meng Xingzhi shot him a glare, and he hurriedly swallowed the rest of his words.
Fan Hengyan lectured him, "I keep telling you to read more books when you’ve got nothing better to do, but whatever goes in one ear es out the other. Can’t you just read a bit more?"
Shen Feihu muttered, "What’s that got to do with reading?"
