The room fell into a strange silence, and Sheng Ning foolishly gazed at ng Ping before casting a sympathetic glance at Su Yun. She freed her hair from Su Yun’s loosened grip and went to help Chen Huaying, who had fallen to the ground.
"Can you walk? I’ll take you to get bandaged up; it’s convenient since we’re already at the hospital."
Chen Huaying was amused by Sheng Ning’s words. Known for her boldness and fearlessness, she gave ng Ping a thumbs-up before leaving. "Second Young Master ng, I must say I’m impressed by Mr. Chen today. From now on when we et, I’ll call you ’Boss’."
She really had guts! Hahaha... ng Ping’s childhood nickna, ’Demon Lord of Mayhem,’ was well-earned.
"I’m sorry, President ng, for causing you trouble," Sheng Ning apologized, bowing her head in sha as she sat down in front of ng Xingzhi. "We shouldn’t have co here; I’m sorry! Please forgive us; we will never show up again."
"I believe you are a good child and would never behave unreasonably or improperly," ng Xingzhi said, softening his tone and looking at Sheng Ning with gentle eyes. "I’m sorry for the unpleasant scene today. Are you hurt?"
"I’m fine, but I need to take Chen Huaying to see a doctor."
"Hmm," ng Xingzhi turned back to his confidential secretary and ordered, "Take her to get treated, and tell the doctor that there must be no scars, understand?"
The confidential secretary understood the aning behind ng Xingzhi’s gaze. Xu Qigang and Chen Yingjie had been lost in S country, their whereabouts unknown and their fates uncertain. Yet their wives and sisters were still facing bullying; if word got out, it would chill the hearts of all their comrades.
"Rest assured!" The confidential secretary bowed and stepped aside, making a welcoming gesture. "Comrade Sheng Ning, please follow with Ms. Chen Huaying."
"Thank you!"
Chen Huaying, pressing her wound, only now began to feel the pain. "Hurry up and go!" she urged the confidential secretary and the two others to leave.
The little fat man had been out of sorts the whole ti, initially shocked by the boldness of the won and likely to be left with a psychological shadow. And then he was frightened by his boss’s intent to use a gun.
Following the recent kidnapping incident, the old master of the ng Family was furious upon hearing the news. He provided his grandson with weapons for self-defense, never expecting that the first ti they were taken out, he almost killed his stepmother.
"I... I think I’m not feeling well either, I’ll go get checked," said the little fat man as he dropped the fruit and fled in haste.
ng Xingzhi watched as they left and then walked into the ward, slamming the door shut with a bang.
Startled, Su Yun shivered and finally snapped back to reality.
She had been terrified by ng Ping’s action of pointing the gun at her; never had she imagined that her loving stepson would one day aim a firearm at her.
Su Yun felt a coldness enter her heart as she turned to look at ng Ping, seeing no sign of guilt on her stepson’s face—only disgust. She then turned to look at ng Xingzhi and saw the complex emotions on her husband’s face, but she could not understand them.
Since when had the gap between husband and wife grown so deep? She didn’t even know what her own husband was thinking.
"Get up!" ng Xingzhi stepped forward to help Su Yun, but she shoved his hand away.
ng Xingzhi’s hand paused mid-air, and then he withdrew it.
"I thought I was a mber of this family, but now it seems I’m not," Su Yun stood up on her own, looking at ng Ping and then at her husband, her eyes filled with deep-seated hatred. "ng Xingzhi, have you ever loved at all?"
"Why talk about love between an old husband and wife in front of the children?" ng Xingzhi deftly dismissed the issue with a single comnt.
