Luckily, there were no traces of large animals on the island, but there were plenty of small creatures, especially birds. Especially since both of them were running a fever, they had to get a fire started imdiately.

The cave was concave into the mountain rock like an arc, but since there were no doors or windows to provide cover, the fierce sea breeze in the winter could possibly freeze them to death, so they were likely facing many more challenges too daunting to even contemplate.
Xiao Ze, worried about Xiao Yu, followed his sister down the mountain despite being too exhausted to move. One carried bedding and the other carried pots and pans. The chicken cage they’d picked up earlier along with the axe, water bottles, and other items, were all placed inside the cave.
By the ti they climbed back up the mountain, it was so dark that it couldn’t get any darker. They felt around in the dark for so dry wood, took out the flint from their bundle, and easily started a fire with the many fallen leaves in the cave.
