Yan Qing arrived with about ten guards, instructing them to move the items to the cave below, while he assisted Xiao Yu in strolling around.

The beach where boats used to dock had changed so much over the past decade that no traces of the past could be found.

Since spring had just arrived, the grass here was just beginning to revive, but the previous wild grass had grown quite tall and required cutting with a scythe to clear a path that people could walk.

It took about half an hour to reach the vicinity of the cave. The land she had cleared before was now covered with weeds and was unrecognizable.

The outside of the cave was covered in vines; the grapevines she had planted before were also gone.

Just clearing these took a long ti; it looked like they weren’t going to leave today. Given the state of the place, it would take two or three days to clean up.

So guards went back and forth moving items, while others cleared the steps and the weeds outside the cave. Because there were so many weeds, they eventually had to set fire to them.

Of course, before setting the fire, they had to cut off any potential paths the fire could spread through to prevent burning down the entire island.

After the outside wall vines were burned down, they quickly swept the remaining ashes into a pile.

When she had left years ago, fearing that the wooden doors would be eroded by wind and rain, she had piled up a layer of stones outside, which had prevented the doors from igniting. Removing the stones, the condition of the wooden doors was still fair, not locked, just tied with a piece of wire, and gently pushed open, a gust of dusty air hit them, though it wasn’t damp.

Once they fully opened the two doors, the sight in front of her slightly excited her.

When she had left six years ago, she had organized everything inside and outside the house neatly inside the cave. Now, returning, these items had only gathered a layer of dust and hadn’t changed.

How could she not have feelings for this place, having lived here for five years?

The island, being surrounded by sea, only had a thin layer of dust and wasn’t very dirty. Only in the corner of the large water tank, which perennially collected water seeping from the mountain crevices, did moss spread, forming a trail of moss marks on the inner angle of the stone steps below.

The outdoor kitchen was slightly damaged as it was exposed to rain and sun, and as a result, so decay was present but it wasn’t severe; a little repair would make it usable. Key point—the firewood was still plentiful, enough for their use in the upcoming days.

Yaya was a bit excited, Aya showed full curiosity, and seeing their interest, Xiao Yu sat on an outdoor stone bench and shared with them how she had lived here initially.

Yan Qing, being much of an impatient man, knowing his wife’s hobbies, did not sit idle while the guards hustled; he grabbed a scythe himself and went down to cut grass.

He trimd the outer periter of the previously planted area, halting the route of fire, then took out the flint and set fire to the inside weeds, negating the need to pluck them one by one.

After the burning, the land appeared relatively unchanged.

"In a while, spread all this plant ash into the soil. When I till the land later, it could serve as fertilizer."

Hearing this, Yan Qing couldn’t help but stare at her, "Are you still thinking of tilling the land? Don’t worry, I’ll definitely help you farm before we leave."

Xiao Yu laughed upon hearing this, "Oh, you’re really keen, aren’t you?"

"Not keen? You’d probably have puncture the sky otherwise, why do you think we brought the hens along, if not because I feared you’d have catch wild chickens?"

While Yan Qing complained, he went to fix the surrounded chicken and sheep pens, thinking to himself that he indeed had a peculiar taste—not for the adorned beauties but for the fisherman’s daughter who swung a hoe to farm. A bit heavy taste, isn’t it? Tears without crying, this is what he brewed himself, and with tears he must swallow it down.
