The bell chid, cutting through the heavy silence of Room 204.

Mrs. Gable began tidying her brochures, her voice trailing off as she dismissed the class with a final reminder to "dress for success".

As the room stirred, Danny, Sarah, and Mike shared a quiet nod.

"We’re heading to the library to secure a table before the rush," Mike muttered, glancing toward the door. "You coming, Alex?"

"Go ahead," Alex replied, his gaze already fixed on the front row. "I have a few things to settle here first."

As the trio headed for the door, the air around Alex suddenly shifted. A familiar scent of expensive perfu and heat trailed over him as Madison slowed her pace, lingering just long enough for her shoulder to brush his.

She leaned in, her lips ghosting against the shell of his ear, her voice a low, rhythmic hum that was ant for him alone. "The archives are cold, Alex... we’ll be on our knees waiting to feel your heat."

She pulled back with a playful, devious glint in her eyes and sauntered out.

Emma, following a step behind, didn’t utter a word. She didn’t have to. As she passed, she locked eyes with him, her gaze heavy and dark with a silent, desperate craving that spoke louder than any whisper.

Alex watched them disappear into the hallway before turning his focus back to the podium.

Jenny Alvarez was ticulously packing her bag, her movents efficient and practiced. She looked up as he approached, her analytical gaze eting his.

"Recruitnt season," Alex started, his voice a low, cool drawl. "I assu the ’giants’ have already started knocking on your door, Jenny. Who’s the lucky winner? Steele Group? Blackwoods? or soone else? "

Jenny offered a small, asured smile.

"I haven’t decided yet. I’m not interested in just any desk. I need to see where I’m most comfortable... where my work won’t just be buried in a pile of corporate bureaucracy." She slung her bag over her shoulder.

"What about you? Surely the recruiters are salivating over your performance trics."

"I’m not looking for a job, Jenny. Or a boss."

She paused, her eyebrows arching.

"Interesting. Planning to go independent?"

"I’m building my own firm," Alex said, his tone devoid of any boastful heat. It was a simple statent of fact. "And I’m looking for people who can do more than just follow a manual."

Jenny let out a soft, playful hum. "Is that an invitation? Can I join this mystery company of yours?"

"You’d be welco anyti," Alex replied, his eyes locking onto hers with a sudden, heavy seriousness.

The playfulness in Jenny’s expression flickered out, replaced by a cautious, mature gravity. She realized he wasn’t joking.

"Alex," she said, her voice dropping to a grounded, advisory tone.

"Don’t let impulse guide you. If you’re opening a small boutique shop, that’s one thing. But if you’re serious about a real firm, you need capital, infrastructure, and an ironclad defense against predatory incumbents. The big players don’t like competition; they’ll try to crush you before you even register a domain."

She stepped closer, offering the advice of a true topper.

"Work sowhere first. Get the ’in and out’ of how these giants operate from the inside. Learn their weaknesses while they pay for your experience. Then, try your hand."

Alex didn’t blink. He t her gaze with an unwavering focus that seed to strip away the noise of the classroom.

"I understand the risks, Jenny," he said, his voice dropping into a register that was calm, steady, and utterly convincing. "And I assure you... I am more than thoroughly prepared for the sharks. I’m not planning to jump into their tank; I’m planning to drain it."

Jenny went still. She didn’t dismiss him with a laugh or a sarcastic retort. Instead, she adjusted her glasses, her sharp eyes scanning his face with a new level of scrutiny.

She was looking for a crack in his armor, a hint of bluffing, but all she found was a terrifyingly level gaze. For the first ti in her academic life, she felt like she was the one being analyzed.

Seeing the flicker of intrigue in her silence, Alex made his move.

"I’m offering you a standing invitation. Whatever the highest bidder offers you... salary, benefits, equity... I’ll double it. And you won’t be a cog in soone else’s machine, Jenny. You’ll be the architect of mine."

Jenny stared at him for a long mont, searching for a hint of bravado, but she found only an unnerving confidence.

"Double?" she echoed softly. She adjusted her glasses, a glint of genuine intrigue finally breaking through her professional mask.

"I’ll tell you what... I want to hear the full plan. The data, the structure, the vision. If it holds up to scrutiny, I’ll give you an answer. I don’t sign on to dreams, Alex; I sign on to results."

"Fair enough," Alex said.

"You know how to contact ," she added, her tone professional yet tinged with a new, underlying curiosity.

With a sharp, decisive nod, she turned and made her way out of the classroom, her heels clicking a steady rhythm against the tiles.

Alex stood still for a mont, watching her retreating back. He knew Jenny; she wasn’t a girl who could be swayed by charismatic speeches or empty promises of wealth.

For a mind like hers, words were just noise unless backed by cold, hard data.

If he wanted her as his cornerstone, he wouldn’t just have to invite her... he would have to overwhelm her with sothing concrete, sothing so undeniable that her logic would leave her no choice but to join him.

But he didn’t need her to say yes imdiately. In fact, he preferred it this way. Knowing her character, planting the seed of doubt in her current path was more than enough for now.

Curiosity, in a mind as sharp as Jenny’s, was a slow-acting poison. It would keep her up at night, dissecting his offer until she realized that every other option was beneath her.

He glanced around, noticing for the first ti that the classroom had beco a vacuum.

Everyone was gone. The silence of the empty hall felt heavy, a stark contrast to the storm of ambition he was currently brewing.

Leaving the classroom, Alex made his way toward the university library.
